The purpose of this study was to develop an Ego-resilience program and examine its effect on elementary school six graders ego-resilience.
The hypotheses in this study were as follows:
First, Ego-resilience program will enhance elementary school six graders ego-resilience.
Second, Ego-resilience program will enhance 5 sub-factors of ego-resilience: personal relations, vitality, control emotion, curiosity and optimism.
The subjects of this study were 20 students in K elementary school in Daegu, who understood the goal and procedure of training program and hoped to join the program.
They were organized into 2 groups, an experimental group and a control group, each having 10 students. This program for enhancing ego-resilience was carried out twice a week for 10 sessions(each session lasted for 50 minutes).
The effect of Ego-resilience program was measured with a rating scale of ego-resilience that was developed by Kim Sook Bok(2007).
The rating scale of ego-resilience in this study consists of 5 sub-factors: personal relations, vitality, control emotion, curiosity and optimism.
In data analysis, based on pre-test, post-test and further-test, ANOVA of SPSS was conducted to measure the effects of the program. A statistical significance level for hypothesis testing was set at .05.
The result of this study was as follows:
First, The Ego-resilience program has an effect on the enhancement on elementary school six graders ego-resilience.
Second, The Ego-resilience program has an effect on the 4 sub-factors of elementary school six graders ego-resilience: vitality, control emotion, curiosity and optimism.
Therefore, this study is meaningful in that the Ego-resilience program had been developed and tried, and it’s effect had proved.
