The purpose of this study is to find out one woman's process of becoming a teacher through oral life history research method that a woman teacher, who has highly devoted teacher, can confirm her personal life in her own voice. Another purpose of the study is to understand profoundly about 'teacher' and to know what can be inferred from the result of the research.
Followings are the study's concrete problems of study.
First, how is the process of the occupational socialization of one elementary school woman teacher, who has been in 33 years in her school life?
Second, what are the crucial factors, which affected the occupational socialization of the teacher?
Third, what can be inferred from the result of one teacher's life research using her life history?
Followings are the study's results
First, though she did not enter into the teaching profession with positive factors, now she has an active stage of the teacher and highly devoted teacher. Following is her process of the occupational socialization.
Before the teaching profession ? passive stage ? enthusiastic and developing stage ? frustration of the profession stage - active stage
Second, the research revealed that through the complicated factors, which promotes her occupational socialization, culture of teaching profession, passion for studying, company and manager factor, and woman factor have both positive and negative effects.
Through meeting passionate research teachers, activating a study organization, pursuing her study in sincere manners, and experiencing a democratic feature of the school, she became one teacher, who has the professional ability. Also, even though she resigned her opportunity of self-development by bringing up her children, she could devote herself in teaching profession with sincere understanding and love for children, as a married teacher and mother.
Moreover, her result revealed that our teaching profession is developing both democratically and participating in the attitude and that many teachers are trying to develop themselves.
However, some discussions and measures about not only the education university's educational process and managing but development of school master's quality are needed.
Followings are inferences for one woman teacher's occupational socialization.
First, effective supports about systemization of step-by-step studying programs connected to all teaching profession and willing training are needed for teachers' formation of their identities.
Second, to manage the school's organization in harmony and effectiveness, settling of training system, longer than 6 months, for managers is needed.
Third, it is urgent that specific procedures be arranged for married women teachers so that they can take care of issues concerning child care.
Fourth, to increase voluntary team-centered research trends, more realistic support should be provided both nation-wise and region-wise.
