통합교육으로서의 생태미술수업에 대한 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 미술과 자연환경문제를 연관한 수업지도방안을 고찰하여 학생들의 자연관의 변화와 자연환경문제에 대한 의식을 높이고, 아울러 표현위주의 수업에서 벗어나 미술을 접근하는 다양한 방식을 통하여 미술수업에 대한 인식의 변화와 미술의 사회적 역할에 대해 새롭게 인식하는 것에 그 목적이 있다.
현재 지구촌에서 일어나고 있는 생태계의 문제는 인류의 생존을 위협하며 21세기 가장 큰 화두거리가 되었다. 이러한 생태계의 문제는 더 이상 선택의 문제가 아닌 필수이며 누구도 그것으로부터 자유로울 수 없는 위급한 문제이다. 미술 또한 그것으로부터 결코 자유로울 수 없기에, 미술교육에 있어 생태적 담론에 기초한 수업을 고찰해보는 일은 매우 의미 있는 일일 것이다.
이러한 필요성을 바탕으로, 중등미술교육에서 생태미술에 담긴 자연관을 이해하고 자연에 대한 올바른 가치관을 형성할 수 있는 효과적인 방안을 모색해 보고자 하였다.
이러한 목적을 위하여 생태미술의 철학적 근거를 위한 이론적 고찰로 생태주의 철학의 담론들을 살펴보고, 또한 미술에서 생태미술이 어떻게 다뤄지고 있는지를 살펴보았다. 이를 통하여 미술교육의 역할변화의 필요성을 고찰하여 보고, 통합교육으로서 생태미술교육의 의의를 살펴보았다. 이러한 이론적 고찰을 바탕으로 ‘자연과 인간을 주제로 생태동화 만들기’수업을 구안하여 효과적인 적용방안을 모색해 보고자 하였다.
이상의 고찰에서 도출된 연구수업의 교육적 가치는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 생태주의 철학에 입각한 새로운 패러다임은 위기에 처한 지구생태계 문제를 근본적으로 바라보게 하며, 더 나아가 나와 타자, 나와 자연에 대한 이원화를 극복하여 조화로운 인간상을 교육한다.
둘째, 생태미술작품 속에서 자연과 인간의 관계를 살펴봄으로써 생태미술에 대한 이해와 미술의 사회적 역할에 대해 살펴볼 수 있다.
셋째, ‘재생 종이’를 주제로 한 생태문제 접근 방식은 생태문제를 학생들의 입장에서 쉽게 접근할 수 있도록 하며, 미술수업과 생태문제를 통합적으로 자연스럽게 연결한다.
넷째, 글과 그림을 활용하는 동화 제작은 학생들의 표현활동에 자신감을 주고 여러 매체를 통해 확립한 자연관은 미술활동으로 표현하여 자신의 생각을 미술로서 표현하는 방법을 배운다.
이러한 교육적 가능성을 바탕으로 학생들에게 사전에 설문을 실시?분석하여 적절한 수업모형을 구안?적용하였다. 수업 방안 적용 후 작품분석결과와 수업 후 설문을 통하여 수업의 결과를 분석하였다.
이러한 분석결과 본 연구의 교육적 가치에 관해 다음과 같은 결론을 얻을 수 있었다.
첫째, 자연에 대한 인식이 변화하였다. 학생들의 작품 속에 나타난 자연과 인간의 모습은 서로를 배려하는 상호존중의 모습이었으며, 자연의 소중함과 존재의 의미를 담고 있었다. 또한 자연환경문제에 대한 관심도 증가하여 자신의 삶과 별개의 문제가 아닌 우리의 문제라는 사실을 인식하게 되었다.
둘째, 미술에 대한 인식이 변화하였다. 조형적인 아름다움만을 추구하는 수업에서 벗어나 미술을 통하여 사회문제들을 다루고 자신의 생각을 표현하는 수업은 기존의 학생들이 가지고 있던 좁은 미술에서 넓은 미술의 개념으로 나아갈 수 있도록 하였으며, 또한 미술수업의 중요성과 필요성을 인식시켰다.
셋째, 표현위주의 수업에서 작품감상과 토론 다양한 학습 자료의 제시는 학생들의 흥미를 높여주었으며, 표현에 자신이 없는 학생들에게도 자신감을 부여하였다.
마지막으로 통합수업의 긍정적인 가능성을 발견하였다. 현대 사회에는 모든 것들이 그물망처럼 서로 복잡하게 관계하여 이뤄지며, 학생들의 사고 또한 복합적으로 발달한다. 때문에 한 가지 문제를 해결함에 있어 여러 과목의 관점과 방법들을 사용하여 학생들이 보다 넓은 시각으로 사고할 수 있도록 해야 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This research studies on education method that integrates art and ecological environment, to increase student's awareness on environmental problems and promote diverse understanding of nature. The study also includes new methods of approaching art, that are different from expression-centered type of education, to lead change in one's understanding of art education, and renew the role of art in the society.
Current problems in the ecosystem threaten the very existence of human life, and have become the most important topic of the 21st century. Such problems of ecosystem are no longer a matter of problem that can be pushed aside, and it is also our crisis that we can not be freed from. As art is part of our lives, it is bound to our problems, and thus it is a very significant issue in art to take ecological discourse as basis of education.
For such necessity, this study aims to search for effective methods of incorporating ecological education in middle school art education, to help students understand the significance of nature portrayed in ecological art, and to create a correct sense of value on nature.
In preparation for this study, basic study was done on how art ecology was being conducted in art, while philosophical discourse of ecology was studied as a theoretical background for philosophical basis of art ecology. Based on such information, the study looks into the necessity of changing the role of art education, and the significance of art ecology as an integrated education. For these purposes, the theme 'Creating Environmental Story Using Recycled Paper' was created as a method of effectively applying art ecology in art education.
The educational significance of this research is described below.
First, the new paradigm integrated on philosophy of ecosystem educates participants to realize problems of ecological crisis, and overcome separation of mankind from nature to create harmony.
Second, the works of art ecology provide opportunity for viewers to observe the relationship between human and nature, for better understanding of art ecology and the social importance of art.
Third, the approach towards ecological problems through ‘Recycled Paper’ theme helps students to face the environmental problems from their own point of view, and naturally integrates art education with environmental awareness.
Fourth, creating environmental study using drawings and stories promote student's confidence in self-expression, and the students learn to express their understanding of nature through artistic activities using various medium.
For such educational potential, survey was conducted for students, and the results were analyzed to create and implement appropriate educational model for the students. Survey was conducted after applying educational model, and the final art products were analyzed to determine the outcome of the education.
Based on such analysis, the following conclusion was obtained for educational significance of this study.
First, the student's understanding of nature had changed. The image portrayed in the works of students reflected on co-existence of nature and human that respected one another, and it conveyed the message on importance of nature and the significance of its existence. It also increased the students' awareness on environmental problems, as they viewed the environmental problems as an issue that concerns everyone, including themselves.
Second, the students' understanding of art had changed. Students broadened their concept of art, by approaching the class as a form of expressing their opinions on social issues rather than a class that only focuses on creating aesthetic beauty, and they became aware of the importance and significance of art education.
Third, introducing different educational methods, such as artistic work evaluation and discussion and expression centered method, heightened the students' interest in the subject which also provided confidence to those students who were not confident in expressing themselves.
Finally, the study presented positive potentials of integrated education. In the modern day society, every components of the society is intertwined in a complex manner, and the minds of students also develop in such complex manner. For this reason, it is important to educate the students to view a problem from various aspects, and apply diverse solutions, to help them broaden their minds and senses.
