This study was intended to test the degree of predicting the Saju-based career by investigating how valid effect individual information captured through Saju has on the individual's career choice. The study questions were set as follows:
1. Does the individual's Saju-based vocation correspond to his actual vocation?
2. Is there a difference on the level of the match between the individual's actual vocation and aptitude in accordance with the correspondence between the Saju-based vocation and the actual vocation?
3. Is there a difference on the reason for vocational choice according to whether the Saju-based vocation corresponds to the actual vocation?
4. Is there a difference on the level of the match between the individual's actual vocation and aptitude in terms of the vocation in which the individual engaged in the past and the vocation in which the individual is currently engaged?
5. Is there a difference on the level of the match between the individual's Saju-based vocation and aptitude in tennis of the vocation in which the individual engaged in the past and the vocation in which the individual is currently engaged?
To resolve these study questions, the following hypotheses were set:
1. Hypothesis 1: The proportion of those whose Saju-based vocation corresponds to their actual vocation would be higher than that of those whose Saju-based vocation does not.
2. Hypothesis 2: The group of those whose Saju-based vocation corresponds to their actual vocation would more think that their actual vocation fits their aptitude than that of those whose Saju-based vocation does not.
3. Hypothesis 3: The group of those whose Saju-based vocation corresponds to their actual vocation would more think the major reason for choice of their actual vocation is its appropriateness to their aptitude more than for other reasons, compared to that of those whose Saju-based vocation does not.
4. Hypothesis 4: The higher proportion of those who changed their vocation would think that their current vocation is better-suited to their aptitude than their past vocation.
5. Hypothesis 5: The higher proportion of those who changed their vocation would think that their current vocation more corresponds to their Saju-based vocation than their past vocation.
The subjects of this study were selected by intentionally sampling 208 male and female adults currently living in Seoul and engaged in the vocation. The measurement instrument used in this study was the questionnaire comprising 7 items made by the researcher of this study.
The reliability of the test and re-test of this questionnaire was .90-.99. Frequency and percentage were calculated using SAS, the statistical package, for statistical analysis. And the chi-square test was conducted.
The findings were summarized as follows:
First, in the hypothesis 1, it was found that the proportion of those whose Saju-based vocation corresponded to their actual vocation were be higher than that of those whose Saju-based vocation did not.
Second, in the hypothesis 2, it was found that the group of those whose Saju-based vocation corresponded to their actual vocation more thought that their actual vocation fitted their aptitude than that of those whose Saju-based vocation did not.
Third, in the hypothesis 3, it was found that the group of those whose Saju-based vocation corresponded to their actual vocation more thought that the major reason for choice of their actual vocation was its appropriateness to their aptitude more than for other reasons, compared to that of those whose. Saju-based vocation did not.
Fourth, in the hypothesis 4, it was found that the higher proportion of those who changed their vocation thought that their current vocation was better-suited to their aptitude than their past vocation.
Fifth, in the hypothesis 5, it was found that the higher proportion of those who changed their vocation thought that their current vocation more corresponded to their Saju-based vocation than their past vocation.
Based on this study results, the following conclusion was drawn:
First, Saju-based vocation corresponds to actual vocation a considerably high extent.
Second, it can been viewed that the more the individual's Saju-based vocation corresponds to actual vocation, the more appropriate the individual's actual vocation is to his aptitude. And it can be viewed that those whose Saju-based vocation corresponds to his actual vocation are choosing their vocation by giving more consideration to their aptitude.
Third, for those who changed their vocation, it can be viewed that their individual aptitude is better-suited to their present vocation than their past vocation. And, it can be viewed that their present vocation more corresponds to their Saju-based vocation than their past vocation.
Fourth, It can be comprehensively concluded that Saju is viewed as having considerably high career predictability. In consequence, Saju is seen as being able to assist individuals in choosing their career to some extent.
Based on the conclusion, this study made the following suggestion on the future direction of research:
First, an attempt will be made to conduct the study concerning the development of career counselling theory using Saju and the applicability of Saju to career education.
Second, an empirical study will continuously have to be conducted concerning the career theory based on Saju by making a random sampling of the object of study on a nationwide scale.
