자원봉사활동이 청소년의 사회적 책임성에 미치는 영향

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 청소년이 자원봉사활동을 통해 체험하게 되는 교육적 의미를 청소년의 사회성 발달과 밀접한 관계를 지닌 사회적 책임성에 초점을 맞추었다. 즉, 청소년의 자원봉사활동 특성에 따른 사회적 책임성과 이러한 사회적 책임성에 영향을 미치는 자원봉사활동 요인을 파악해 자원봉사활동을 통한 청소년 사회적 책임성의 향상방안을 모색하는데 그 목적이 있다.
이에 본 연구에서는 경주시의 인문·실업고 2학년 남녀학생 286명을 대상으로 청소년의 자원봉사활동 실태와 자원봉사활동 특성에 따른 사회적 책임성 정도를 살펴보았다.
먼저 봉사활동 실태를 살펴보면 지난 1년 동안 자원봉사활동을 경험한 청소년은 전체의 76.2%를 차지하였고, 봉사활동 참여시간은 평균 16-20시간이 가장 많았다. 그리고 봉사활동 동기는 성적반영 동기와 순수 참여 동기, 자기성장 및 발전동기, 새로운 경험 습득 동기가 높게 나타났고, 청소년들은 봉사활동 사전 교육의 필요성을 느끼고 있었으나 이러한 봉사활동 사전 교육과 사후 평가를 받은 청소년의 수는 적었다. 또한 봉사활동 내용은 주로 일손돕기 활동에만 치우쳐 있었고, 봉사활동 불만족 사유로 시간 조정의 어려움을 호소했으며 가족과 함께한 봉사활동 경험 정도와 부모의 봉사활동 관심 및 참여율은 대체로 낮았다.
자원봉사활동 특성에 따른 사회적 책임성을 살펴보면 첫째, 자원봉사활동 참여 부분에 있어서는 자원봉사활동 경험이 있는 청소년과 봉사 시간이 높은 청소년 그리고 순수 참여, 여가활용, 자기성장 및 발전, 새 친구 교제, 종교적 이유, 새 경험 습득, 지역사회 발전, 사회문제 관심 등에 동기가 높은 청소년 일수록 그렇지 않은 청소년에 비해 사회적 책임성이 높았다. 둘째, 자원봉사활동 교육 부분에 있어서의 사회적 책임성은 봉사활동 사전 교육을 받은 청소년 일수록 그렇지 않은 청소년에 비해 사회적 책임성이 높았다. 셋째, 자원봉사활동 내용 부분에 있어서의 사회적 책임성은 위문, 지도, 캠페인, 환경시설 보존, 지역사회개발 활동 등에 경험이 있는 청소년 일수록 그렇지 않은 청소년에 비해 사회적 책임성이 높았다. 넷째, 자원봉사활동 평가 부분에 있어서의 사회적 책임성은 봉사활동 사후 평가를 받은 청소년과 자신의 봉사활동 태도 및 봉사활동 전체 만족도가 높은 청소년 그리고 향후 봉사활동 의향이 있는 청소년 일수록 그렇지 않은 청소년에 비해 사회적 책임성이 높았다. 다섯째, 가족 자원봉사활동 부분에 있어서의 사회적 책임성은 가족 자원봉사활동 경험이 있는 청소년과 부모의 봉사활동 관심도 및 참여율이 높은 가정의 청소년 일수록 그렇지 않은 청소년에 비해 사회적 책임성이 높았다. 여섯째, 청소년의 사회적 책임성에 영향을 미치는 자원봉사활동 주요 요인은 학교의 봉사활동 처 연결정도와 종교적 참여 동기, 지역사회 발전동기, 사회문제 관심 동기, 일손돕기 활동으로 나타났다.
따라서 자원봉사활동을 통한 청소년의 사회적 책임성 향상방안에는 봉사활동에 임하는 청소년들의 동기와 욕구에 관심을 기울이고, 체계적이며 지속적인 봉사활동 교육과 더불어 다양한 내용의 봉사활동 프로그램 마련이 필요하다고 사료된다. 그리고 학교와 봉사기관 간의 협력체계가 마련되어야 할 것이다. 또한 봉사활동의 체계적인 사후지도 방안 마련을 비롯하여 가족 자원봉사활동 프로그램의 활성화가 요구된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study focused on adolescents’ social responsibility which has close relationship with their sociability development in terms of educational meaning experienced by the adolescents through volunteer service work. The purpose of this study is to identify volunteer service work factors having impacts on social responsibility, as well as social responsibility according to adolescents’ volunteer service work, and pursue measures to improve adolescents’ social responsibility through volunteer service work.
This study targeted 286 second year academic and vocational high school students in Gyeongju City to investigate social responsibility according to volunteer service work features along with volunteer service work situation.
For volunteer service work situation, the adolescents who experienced volunteer service work for the past one year accounted for 76.2% of the whole respondents, and the most respondents replied volunteer work participation time was 16-20 hours on average. For motivation of volunteer service work, academic record reflection motivation, pure altruistic motivation, self-growth and development motivation and new experience obtainment motivation were high. Although adolescents felt the need of pre-education for volunteer service work, the number of adolescents who received the pre and post volunteer service work education was small. The content of volunteer service work was inclined toward providing helping hand, and adolescents’ appealed difficulty in adjusting time as a cause for discontent. The experience participated along with family and parents’ volunteer service work interest and participation rate were low overall.
For social responsibility according to volunteer service work features:
First, in terms of volunteer service work participation, the adolescents with volunteer work experiences, high volunteer work time and with high motivation in pure altruism, leisure use, self-growth and development, making new friends, religious reason, new experience obtainment, community development and interest in social issues had higher social responsibility than other adolescents. Second, for social responsibility in the volunteer service work education, the social responsibility of the adolescents who received pre-volunteer service work education was higher than other adolescents. Third, social responsibility in terms of volunteer service work content, the social responsibility of the adolescents who had experiences in consolation, guidance, campaign, environmental facility preservation and community development activities was higher than other adolescents. Fourth, for social responsibility in volunteer service work evaluation, the adolescents who received post evaluation for volunteer service work, and whose satisfaction on their own volunteer work attitude and overall satisfaction in volunteer service work were high showed higher social responsibility than other adolescents. Fifth, in terms of family volunteer service work, the social responsibility of the adolescents with experience in family volunteer service work and high parents’ interest and participation rate in volunteer service work was higher than other adolescents. Sixth, the major factors of volunteer service work which impact to adolescent's social responsibility are the extent of introducing voluteer work destinations by schools, religious partition incentive, local society development incentive, the concern of social problem and providing helping hands.
The measures to improve adolescents’ social responsibility through volunteer service work are to pay attention to adolescents’ motivation and needs, conduct systematic and constant volunteer service work education and draw up various volunteer service work programs. And it has to be made the cooperative relationship between schools and service organization.
Also, professional follow up guidance of volunteer service work and activation of the family volunteer service work programs are needed.
