This study developed a parent education program of home safety and examined how the program had an effect on mothers'' knowledge, attitude, and practice to home safety.$$a$$aThe home safety education program was developed through the following five steps. First, I set up an aim of the program suitable for the cultural situation of the nation based on theoretical studies and surveys to reflect what mothers need and demand. Second, I selected content of program based on parents'' demand and additional content based on opinions of one principal of a kindergarten and two specialists in children''s safety. Third, I decided teaching-methods of program. Fourth, I executed the program developed for sixty parents of a childcare center. Fifth, I revised and supplemented the program and I completed the home safety education program for parents.$$a$$aThe aim of the program was acquisition of home safety knowledge, cultivation of home safety attitude, and application of home safety practice. The content of program was composed of characteristics of young children''s development, danger of home facilities and safety regulations, danger of home equipment and safety regulations, first aids for safety injury at home, and preparation for disaster. Teaching-methods of program were discussion, lecture using video-audio materials, workshops, role play etc. The final step of the program was closed by evaluation sheets.$$a$$aThe one handred and forty-six mothers were randomly divided into two groups: intervention and control group. The mothers of the intervention group carried out the program at the childcare center for 90 minutes once a week during 5 weeks. The questionnaire which consisted of knowledge, attitude, and practice of home safety was used to evaluate the effect of the training program,$$a$$aThe results of the study were as follows.$$a$$aFirst, according to home safety knowledge, the scores of mothers in the intervention group significantly increased more than those in the control group after five-week program.$$a$$aSecond, the mothers of the intervention group showed more proper attitude toward home safety than those of the control group after the parent education.$$a$$aThird, according to home safety practice, the scores of the intervention groups showed higher than those of the control groups after participating in the program. There was no difference between the scores of self-reported safety practice and ones of observed safety practice at home two weeks after joining the program in the intervention groups.$$a$$aIn conclusion, the home safety education program for the mothers who had young children at childcare centers was regarded as being effective to change their safety knowledge, attitude, and practice.$$a$$a
