Abstract
The purpose of this study is to compare the anxiety, depression, and school adaptability of middle school students with and without learning disabilities, and to examine the relationship among anxiousness, depression, and school adaptability. The results from this study are as following:
First, in the comparison of depression level between the students who have learning disabilities and normal students, the depression level of students who have learning disability is meaningfully higher than that of normal students. In the comparison of depression level of academic grade, the depression level of the students who have learning disabilities is meaningfully higher than that of normal students in 8th grade, but there is statistically no meaningful difference in the depression level between students who have learning disabilities and normal students in 9th grade.
Second, in the comparison of anxiety level between the students who have learning disabilities and normal students, there is no statistically meaningful difference between them, and also the same result comes from the comparison of anxiety level of academic grade.
Third, in the comparison of the level of school adaptability, its level of the students who have learning disabilities is meaningfully lower than that of normal students. And in the level of school adaptability between the grade levels, the adaptability of students who have learning disabilities is highly lower than that of normal students in both 8th and 9th grade.
Forth, there is a correlation between depression and anxiety and not between anxiety and school adaptability among normal students and students with learning disabilities. There is a correlation between depression and adaptability to school among students with learning disabilities and not among normal students.
