The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between communication style of the school principal and school organizational health.
To accomplish the purposes, questionnaires were used to classify the principal's communication style and to measure the school organizational health. The questionnaires were administered to 600 teachers randomly selected from 12 small schools and 12 large schools located in Seoul.
The data were collected from 552 teachers and analyzed to get Mean(M) and Standard Deviation(SD) of each variable by using SPSS/PC. The t test and F test were used to verify the difference between each variable at 5%, 1% and 0.1% level of significance.
The conclusions of this study were as follows:
First, supportive style is the most communication style of the elementary school principal and the directive style, reflective style and emotive style were followed according to majority.
Second, the level of school organizational health perceived by elementary school teachers is generally high regardless of school size.
Third, the level of school organizational health perceived more higher when the elementary school principal induce the communication with supportive style than reflective style, emotive style and directive style.
