본 연구의 목적인 어머니 대상표상의 인지적 복잡성과 정서적 색조의 수준이 유아의 공격적 행동과 관련이 있는지를 확인하는 것이다. 연구대상은 서울에 소재하고 있는 2곳의 유치원 만 3,4,5세의 192명으로 선생님이 평정한 유아의 공격성 척도와 어머님께서 평가한 유아의 공격성 척도의 점수를 평균을 내어 공격적 성향이 높은 21명의 유아와 공격적 성향이 낮은 20명의 유아이다.
유아의 공격성을 측정하기 위해서 한미옥(2000)이 개발한 유아의 공격성 관찰척도를, 어머니의 대상관계 인지적 복잡성과 정서적 색조의 수준을 알아보기 위해서는 어머니의 아동기 초기기억에 대한 자료를 수집하여 Westen등(1990)이 개발한 사회인지 및 대상관계 척도(Social Cognition and Object Relations)를 사용하였다.
연구 결과, 공격적 성향이 낮은 유아의 어머니의 인지적 복잡성과 정서적 색조 수준이 공격적 성향이 높은 유아의 어머니의 그것에 비해서 높게 나타남으로써 유아의 공격성이 어머니와의 대상관계와 관련이 있음을 확인하였다.

The purpose of this study, in this context, is to examine if quality of object relations of the mothers whose young children have aggressive behavioral problem is really different from that of the mothers whose young children are normal. The quality of object relations of the mothers is measured by two subdimensions among four independent subdimensions of the Social Cognitions and Object Relations Scale(SCORS) which was developed by Westen and his colleagues. Two subdimensions are the complexity and affect-tone of object representation.
This study employed the clinical data contained in children to measure the complexity and affect-tone of object representation of two groups the mothers. The subjects were 21 mothers whose young children are identified to have aggressive behavioral problem and 20 mothers whose young children are identified normal by their teachers and mothers.
There were two hypothesis were assumed.
Hypothesis 1. The quality of the complexity of object representation of the mothers whose young children are normal is higher than that of mothers whose young children have aggressive behavioral problem.(t=-5.36, p< .01) Hypothesis 2. The quality of affect-tone of relationship paradigms of the mothers whose young children are normal is higher than that of mothers whose young children have aggressive behavioral problem.(t=-3.64, p< .01)
To gather quality of complexity and affect-tone of object representation of two groups of the mothers were used Early Childhood Memories. It was compared by t-test.
As result, the quality of complexity and affect-tone of object representation of mothers whose young children are normal was higher than that of mothers whose young children have aggressive behavioral problem. It is conformed that the aggressive behavioral problem of the young children are related to the object relations of their mothers according to the result. It is also inferred that the object relations of their mothers has the influence on the problems in the young children by reflecting it in the interaction with the young children. Or there possibly will be the reciprocal in fluence between them.
The implications of this study are as follows:
Frist, it is suggested that counseling and guidance of the young children who have aggressive behavioral problem should also pay attention to counsel their mother to acquire good object relations which helps young children. Second, it is suggested that counseling and guidance of the young children who focused on having good experiences of object relations which young children haven`t been experienced in the past.
In conclusion this study verified the relation between the young children aggressive behavioral problem and object relations of their mothers. So, this results were applied to counsel and guide of the young children who have aggressive behavioral problem.
