The purpose of present study was to investigate relations of children's ego-resiliency , self-regulation and to test the mediating effect of ego-resiliency in the relationship between self-regulation and adjustment.
The participants were one hundred and two mothers and teachers from four preschools. Ego-resiliency was assessed by using the California Child Q-set(CCQ;Block,1969) and self-regulation was measured by the Child Behavior Questionnaire (CBQ;Rothbart,1996). Children's adjustment was assessed by the Preschool Adjustment Questionnaire(PAQ;Jewsuwan,1993). The data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation, simple regression, hierachical multiple regression.
The result of the study are as follows:
First, there was a significant positive relationship among ego-resiliency, self-regulation and adjustment. Both high ego-resiliency and self-regulation related to positive adjustment.
Second, ego-resiliency significantly affected self-regulation. This result showed that high ego-resiliency predicts high self-regulation.
Third, the mediating effect of ego-resiliency in the relationship between self-regulation and adjustment was significant. This result indicated that as a mediator, ego-resiliency is better predictor of positive adjustment.
