DEA-Malmquist 생산성 지수 분석방법을 응용한 대구,경북지역 새마을금고의 경영효율성 및 생산성변화 분석 = Investigation of Efficiency and Productivity of Saemaeul Credit Cooperatives by Using DEA-Malmquist Productivity Measure

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the efficiency and productivity of community credit cooperatives (CCC) for the period of 2003 to 2008. For this purpose, the paper measures DEA technical efficiency indexes and Malmquist productivity indexes for CCCs, and compares them with unit productivity indexes. We find that, although technical efficiency of CCC has improved for the period of 2003～2007, it becomes deteriorated to a greater degree in 2008. In addition, Malmquist index decreased during the sample period, mainly due to unfavorable technical change. These results imply that increases in CCC operating sizes do not necessarily indicate the improvement of CCC`s efficiency. It is seen that, in order to improve efficiency of CCC, CCC has to exert greater efforts to expand loans and fee income and to optimize the size of physical capital as well.
