지방공무원의 직무 스트레스와 직무 만족도가 우울에 미치는 영향 = Impacts of Job Stress and Job Satisfaction on Depression among Local Public Servants

The aims of the present study were; (a) to investigate the relationships betweenjob stress, job satisfaction, and depression; (b) to examine the differences in jobstress, job satisfaction, and depression in terms of socio-demographic variables;and (c) to identify predictors of depression in the study participants. 274 studyparticipants were recruited from public servants working in the DaeguMetropolitan City Hall, eight Gu offices in Daegu City and Gyeongsangbuk-doGyeongsan-si using a convenience sampling method. Data were collected using aanonymous, self-reporting questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptiveanalysis, Pearson correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression withSPSS/WIN 18.0. Pearson correlation analyses among the research variablesindicated that the level of depression was negatively correlated with the level ofrelational conflict, job insecurity, organizational structure, reward among job stressfactors. However, the level of depression was positively correlated with the levelof job satisfaction. Among socio-demographic variables, depression wassignificantly associated with age, monthly household income, and service area. Inthe stepwise multiple regression analysis, relational conflict, job insecurity and reward among job stress factors and job satisfaction were significantly associated with the level of depression. This final model was statistically significant and accounted for 40.6% (adjusted R2; 37.6%) of the variance in the depression.
Based on the research finding, the authors suggested the necessity of developingstress management program tailored to job stress factors among local publicservants.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 지방 공무원의 직무 만족도, 직무 스트레스, 그리고 우울정도 간의 관계를 조사하고 이를 통하여 연구대상자의 우울 예측요인을 규명하기 위함이다. 연구 참여자는 편의표집법에 의해 대구광역시 시청, 8개의 구, 군청 및 경상북도 경산시에 근무하는 공무원 274명을 대상으로 선정하였다. 본 연구에서는 참여자들의 인구사회학적 특성을 분석하기 위해 기술통계, 직무 만족도와 직무 스트레스, 우울 간의 관계를 규명하기 위해 Pearson의 상관분석을 실시하였다. 직무 만족도와 직무 스트레스, 그리고 우울과 인구사회학적 변수간의 관계를 파악하기 위해서는 t-test와 일원분산분석, 우울 예측요인을 확인하기 위해서는 단계적 다중회귀분석을 활용하였다. 연구 결과 우울은 직무스트레스 하위 요인 중 관계갈등, 직무 불안정, 조직 체계 및 보상부적절과 부적상관 관계를 보여주었으며 반면 우울은 직무 만족과 정적 상관관계를 보여 주었다. 직무 만족도, 직무 스트레스, 우울, 그리고 인구사회학적 변수간의 관계에서 직무 스트레스는 연령과 유의한 관계를 보였으며 반면 우울은연령, 월수입, 근무지와 유의한 관계를 보여주었다. 단계적 다중회귀분석에서는 직무 스트레스의 하위 요인 중 관계갈등, 직무불안정, 보상부적절과 직무 만족도가 우울에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며 우울에 대한 이들의 설명력은 40.6%로 나타났다(adjusted R²; 37.6%).
