유아의 기질, 어머니의 기질과 조화적합성이 유아의 사회적 능력에 미치는 영향 = The Effects of Young Children's Temperament, Mothers' Temperament and Goodness-of-Fit on Young Children's Social Ability

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purposes of this study was to examine the effects of young children's sex, temperament, mothers' temperament and goodness-of-fit on young children's social abilities. The subjects were 120 5-year-old children recruited from nine child care centers in Seoul. EAS(Emotionality, Activity and Sociability) ethnotheory(DOTS-R; Ethnotheory) were used to measure mothers' temper, children's temper and goodness-of-fit between the mother & child. And the Iowa Social Competence Scale was used to measure child's social competence. The results showed that some factors of children's temperament(i.e., adaptability), mothers' temperament(i.e., emotionality), and the goodness-of-fit between mothers' and children's temperaments had significant effects on young children's social ability. In addition, behavioral goodness-of-fit as well as psychological goodness-of-fit significantly influenced on young children's social ability.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 유아가 속한 환경 속에서 유아의 개체 변인인 기질과 주요 환경 변인인 어머니의 기질, 그리고 양자를 연결하는 변인으로서의 유아기질과 어머니의 기질간의 조화적합성이 유아의 사회적 능력에 미치는 영향력을 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 서울지역에 소재한 9개 어린이집의 만 5세아 120명과 해당 유아의 어머니, 그리고 담임교사 9명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하였으며, 이를 분석한 결과 유아의 기질, 어머니의 기질, 그리고 조화적합성이 유아의 사회적 능력을 상당 부분 설명하는 변수임이 밝혀졌다. 구체적으로 유아의 기질 중 적응과 어머니의 기질특성 중 정서성, 그리고 심리적 조화적합성 중 주의집중, 유연성과 기분, 행동적 조화적합성 중 활동이 유아의 사회적 능력에 영향을 미치는 변수로 나타났다. 따라서 유아의 사회적 능력에 영향을 미치는 변인으로 전통적으로 논의 되어온 유아의 기질이나 어머니의 기질뿐 아니라 유아와 어머니의 기질 간의 조화정도인 조화적합성이 함께 고려되어야 하며, 특히 기존의 연구들에서 제기되고 분석된 개념인 심리적 조화적합성 뿐 아니라 실제 행동으로 표출되는 행동적 조화적합성도 유아의 사회적 능력에 영향을 미치는 변수임을 밝혔다는데서 본 연구의 의의를 찾을 수 있다.
