한국 베이비붐 세대의 성공적 노화에 영향을 미치는 요인과 평생교육의 역할에 관한 연구 = A Study of the Factors Affecting Successful Aging and their Roles in Lifelong Learning: Baby Boomers in Korea

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 한국의 베이비붐 세대가 노화를 성공적으로 준비할 수 있도록 평생교육이 어떤 역할을 해야 하는가를 조명하는데 있다. 이를 위하여 베이비붐 세대를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고, 구조방정식을 사용하여 긍정적 영성, 건강, 심리적 안녕, 사회적 지지, 생산적 활동 등과 성공적 노화 사이에 관계를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 긍정적 영성은 건강에 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았으나 건강을 매개로 성공적 노화에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 건강과 심리적 안녕, 사회적 지지 및 생산적 활동사이의 모수의 추정치들(λ)은 통계적으로 유의하다고 할 수 있다. 마지막으로, 심리적 안녕, 사회적 지지 및 생산적 활동이 성공적 노화에 유의한 영향을 주고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구결과를 통하여 평생교육은 첫째 건강 지식, 사유와 치유를 지향하는 건강 교육, 둘째 심리적 안녕감 증진을 위한 낙관성 계발, 셋째 관계 형성의 장 제공, 넷째 생산성의 재개념화를 통한 역할 부여와 활동을 지원함으로써 베이비붐 세대에게 다가온 노화라는 발달과업을 성공적으로 수행할 수 있도록 해야 함을 알 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This purpose of this research is to engender a detailed explication of what baby boomers perceive their successful aging and to suggest a role for lifelong education to be well prepared for the life after retirement. Recent negative trends such as the impending wave of retiring baby boomers in Korea make it imperative to study various factors affecting successful aging. Accordingly, this study builds a comprehensive theoretical model explaining successful aging and lifelong education. I examined five latent variables of successful aging: positive spirituality, health, psychological stability, social support, and productive activity. I found that there was no relationship between positive spirituality and health, but the other constructs such as health psychological stability, social support, and productive activity successfully explain what baby boomers perceive their successful aging. In addition, this study provides insights into how to accomplish successful aging through lifelong education.
