부정적 생활 스트레스와 고독감이 노인의 자살생각에 미치는 영향 - 영성의 조절효과를 중심으로 = The Effect of Negative Life Stress and Loneliness on Suicidal Ideation of the Elderly - With Special Reference to Moderating Effect of Spirituality

The purpose of this study was to examine the moderating effect of spirituality on the relations among negative life stress, loneliness, and suicidal ideation of the elderly. The study involved 836 the elderly, 65 years old and over, living in Busan. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and hierarchial multiple regression analysis were used for collected data.
According to the findings, if the elderly had low levels of education of demographic factors, they had higher levels of suicidal ideation. In addition, if the elderly had higher degree of subjective stress, severe loneliness, and lots of bitter experience by negative life events, they had higher rates of suicidal ideation. By doing this, spirituality had great effects on lowing their levels of suicidal ideation if the elderly had under lots of subjective stress. Based on the results of this study, it suggested some practical implications and measures to prevent the elderly from committing suicide.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 노인의 부정적 생활 스트레스와 고독감이 자살생각에 미치는 영향에서 영성의 조절효과를 살펴본 것이다. 연구대상은 부산지역에 거주하는 65세 이상의 노인이며, 총 836명의 응답결과가 자료분석에 활용되었다. 수집된 자료는 기술통계, 상관관계분석, 그리고 위계적 다중회귀분석을 통해 분석되였다. 분석결과, 학력수준이 낮을수록 자살생각이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 주관적 스트레스가 높을수록, 부정적인 생활사건의 경험이 많을수록, 고독감이 높을수록 자살생각이 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 영성은 주관적 스트레스와 상호작용하여 자살생각을 낮추는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 주관적 스트레스가 높을 때 그것이 자살생각으로 연결되는 것을 영성이 조절해주는 역할을 함을 시사한다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 토대로 노인자살예방에의 함의와 방안을 논의하였다.
