노인 적응유연성 척도 개발 및 타당화 연구 = Development and Validation of the Resilience Scale for the Elderly in Korea (RSEK)

The purpose of this study is to develop and validate the Resilience Scale for the Elderly in Korea (RSEK). Resilience was defined as a positive mechanism of the elderly to carry out their tasks successfully under challenging situations including various losses, depression, or loneliness due to aging. This study was conducted according to the following procedures. First, a preliminary scale consisting of 60 items was developed based on the review of related literature and the results from the interviews conducted with 7 elderly persons. This preliminary scale was administered to a sample of 320 elderly people in Daegu City and Gyungbuk Province. Second, 3 factors(18 items) were extracted from the factor analysis by means of the principal axis analysis and the direct oblimin. Factor 1(6 items) was named as Supportive Relationship, factor 2(6 items) as Religious Inclination, and factor 3(6 items) as Positive Attitude. Cronbach's α of the total items was .90 (factor 1= .87, factor 2= .95, factor 3= .78)). Third, to examine the discriminant and convergent validity of this scale, Life Satisfaction Scale(LSS) and Geriatric Depression Scale(GDS) were used. The results showed that the RSEK was positively related with LSS and negatively related with GDS. In conclusion, this scale showed adequate level of reliability and validity. This study is significant in that it provides the first resilience scale to be used for the elder people in Korea. It is hoped that the RESK will be used as a useful tool to guide the counseling and other interventions to improve the quality of life for the elderly.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 신체적인 노화와 더불어 다양한 상실, 우울, 질병, 외로움 등의 스트레스 상황에도 불구하고 기능수행을 적절히 회복하고 수행하는 긍정적인 적응기제로 노인 적응유연성(resilience)을 정의하고, 이를 측정할 수 있는 척도를 개발하여 요인을 규명하고, 개발된 척도의 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증하였다. 적응유연성 관련 국내․외 문헌 연구, 기존 척도 분석과 연구 대상자 7명과의 심층 면접을 토대로 60문항으로 이루어진 예비척도를 개발하여, 대구, 경북권의 65세 이상 노인 320명을 대상으로 예비검사를 실시하였다. 요인분석은 주축요인분석에 사교회전을 실시하였다. 그 결과 3 요인(총 18문항)이 추출되었으며, 각 요인은 지지적 관계(6 문항), 종교적 성향(6 문항), 긍정적 태도(6 문항)로 명명하였다. 하위 요인 각각의 Cronbach’s α는 .87, .95, .78이었다. 전체 Cronbach’s α는 .90으로 양호한 신뢰도를 나타내었다. 개발된 척도의 일반화 검증을 위하여 수렴타당도와 변별타당도가 각각 검증되었다. 개발된 본 검사는 노인 생활만족도와는 정적상관이, 노인 우울척도와는 부적상관이 나타났는데, 이를 통해 본 연구의 의의는 한국 노인들의 실정에 적합한 노인 적응유연성을 측정할 수 있는 지표를 최초로 제공했다는 데 있다. 본 연구의 결과는 노화와 상실로 특징짓는 노년기의 삶의 질을 향상시키는 가이드라인 역할을 하는 데 유용한 도구로 활용될 것이며, 노인 적응유연성에 대한 상담적 개입과 방향을 결정지을 수 있는 중요한 모델로 활용될 것으로 사료된다.
