무단결석 청소년의 생활과 진로 = Truancy of youth: Cause, life and career

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Despite the fact that truancy of youth is related to other behavioral problems and adulthood maladaptation, our society has little academic attention on this issue. Nonetheless, in actual school field, there are quite a lot of troubles caused by minority youth group who skips the class without any notice. The purpose of this study was to investigate the lives of truant adolescents through deep interview. In other words, intention of this study is to provide more comprehensive understanding in depth on the cause of truancy as well as truants' life style, emotional status of them during the truancy, and their career. The target group is consisted of 4 students from academic high school and 5 students attending to the contracted alternative school currently. There are 7 male youths and 2 female youths.
The results of this study are as follows. First, the truant adolescents usually showed good attitudes and behaviors both at home and school. Second, it proves that the level of teacher's interest has a significant cause of truancy. Third, the individual's willingness and motivation in addition to the peer pressure were the major factors to the truancy in junior high school and high school period while the adults (parents, teachers) around them was in elementary school. Forth, the causes of the truancy varied by the occurrent period and gender. Fifth, truancy may cause various problem behaviors such as smoking, drinking, run away from home, and so on.
