유치원 교사들의 유아 환경교육에 대한 인식에 관한 질적 연구 = Kindergarten Teacher' Awareness of Environmental Education

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study was aimed at identifying the awareness and understandings of kindergarten teachers regarding environmental issues, environmental education, and the implementation of environmental education in their classrooms. The subjects of this study were 15 kindergarten teachers working in national and private kindergartens. The researcher interviewed teachers individually. Interviews with teachers took approximately 30-45 minutes and were conducted in a semi-structured format.
According to the results of this study, kindergarten teachers recognized environmental issues and the seriousness of it. Teachers were aware of environmental education only in relation to teaching about environmental pollution, the conservation of the environment, and solutions for solving environmental problems. Kindergarten teachers' implementation of environmental education was limited to a few activities and topics, such as recycling and raising plants and animals. Kindergarten teachers indicated the following obstacles to implementing environmental education in their classrooms: lack of teachers' awareness and knowledge, difficulty in involving families, and the urbanized environment of the kindergarten.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 질적 연구방법을 통해 유치원 교사들의 환경문제, 환경교육, 환경교육 실시에 대한 인식을 좀 더 구체적이고 실제적으로 알아보고자 하는데 그 목적이 있었다. 연구대상은 M시와 K시의 국공립과 사립유치원에 근무하고 있는 유치원 교사 15명이었다. 본 연구는 개별면담으로 이뤄졌으며, 수집된 자료는 녹음된 내용을 전사, 부호화, 범주화하여 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 유치원 교사들은 환경문제와 그 심각성에 대해 인식하고 있었으나 환경문제 해결과 환경보호를 일상생활 속에서 실천하지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 환경교육에 대한 교사들의 인식은 환경문제나 환경보존과 관련된 내용을 가르치는 교육으로 이해하고 있었고, 환경교육 실시에 대한 인식은 몇 가지 활동과 내용으로 제한되어 있었다. 환경교육 실시를 저해하는 요인으로는 교사의 환경교육에 대한 인식과 지식의 부족, 부모 참여의 부족, 유치원의 도시화된 환경 등을 언급하였다.
