성폭력으로 인한 PTSD 아동의 외상중심 미술치료적 접근을 통한 사례연구 = A Case Study of Trauma-Focused Art Therapy for a Sexually Abused Child with PTSD

The purpose of this study is to show how trauma-focused art therapy can be applied to the case of a sexually abused child with PTSD and whether it has an effect in improving the child’s condition. This clinical case study’s subject involves the reappearance of PTSD following everyday life events that led an 8-year-old child to remember the details of abuse that occurred when she was
5 years of age, and this child’s problem can be summarized as follows: (1) thinking about past events, significant anxiety associated with the image, (2)
re-experiencing of trauma through dreams, and (3) rolling down the sleeves before grasping door handle. Therefore, this study goes into detail about the process and the results of short-term trauma-focused art therapy including a
gradual exposure intervention wherein child describes increasingly distressing details of her sexual abuse and emotional expression, 7 sessions in total. It is
just the detailed description that trauma-focused art therapy is an effective approach for sexually abuse children, including those who have experienced
multiple other traumatic events. Finally, the implications and limitations were discussed.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 외상중심 미술치료적 접근이 성폭력으로 인한 PTSD 아동에게 어떻게 적용되고 어떠한 효과를 나타낼 수 있는지 사례로써 보여주고자 하였다. 연구 대상은 5세 때 성폭행을 당한 아동이 8세 때 그 당시 기억을 떠올리게 하는 생활 사건을 접함으로써 결과적으로 PTSD를 다시 보이게 된 경우로, PTSD로 진단된 본 사례의 아동의 문제를 요약하면 다음과 같다: (1) 과거 사건에 대한 사고, 심상과 관련된 현저한 불안, (2) 꿈을 통한 외상 재경험, (3) 소매를 내려 문고리를 잡는 행동. 이에 따라 본 사례연구는 정신적 외상과 관련된 부정적 사고를 표적으로 성폭력이라는 외상적 사건을 직접적으로 다루는 점진적 노출과 감
정표출 등을 포함한 총 7회기의 단기 외상중심 미술치료 접근을 실시한 과정과 그 결과를 기술하고 있다. 즉 다양한 외상적 사건을 포함하여 성폭력을 경험한 아동에게 있어 외상중심
미술치료적 접근이 효과적인 접근방식이 될 수 있음을 보여주고자 하였다. 끝으로 본 연구의 의의와 시사점 등을 논하였다.
