상담자의 자기자비가 공감능력, 자기효능감, 소진에 미치는 영향: 연령과 상담자경력을 조절변인으로 = The Effects of Counselors’ Self-Compassion on Empathy, Self-Efficacy and Burnout with the Moderating Effects of Age and Counseling Experience

The present study investigated the effects of self-compassion on empathy, self-efficacy, and burnout with moderating effects of age and counseling experience in a sample of counselors. Data were collected from 108 counselors working in a variety of settings across the country. The results of correlational analysis indicated that self-compassion was positively related to age, counseling experience, empathy, and self-efficacy, but negatively associated with burnout. The results of hierarchical regression analyses indicated that self-compassion had a main effect and an interaction effect with age on empathy. In addition, both counseling experience and self-compassion had a main effect, and self-compassion and age had an interacting effect on self-efficacy. Furthermore, both age and self-compassion had a main effect on burnout. In sum, self-compassion predicted counselors’ empathy, self-efficacy, and burnout, and age moderated the effects of self-compassion on empathy and self-efficacy. Implications and suggestions for clinical applications and future research are discussed.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 상담자들을 대상으로 연령과 상담자 경력을 조절변인으로 하여 자기자비가 상담자들의 공감능력, 자기효능감, 소진에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 전국의 다양한 상담센터에서 일하고 있는 상담자 108명으로부터 수집된 설문자료가 분석되었다. 먼저 상관분석 결과, 자기자비는 상담자의 연령, 상담경력, 공감능력, 자기효능감과 유의한 정적관계, 소진과는 부적관계를 나타냈다. 다음으로 위계적 회귀분석 결과, 자기자비는 상담자의 공감능력을 예측하는 데 주효과 및 연령과 상호작용효과를 나타냈다. 또한 상담자의 자기효능감을 예측하는 데는 상담자의 상담경력, 자기자비의 주효과 및 자기자비와 연령의 상호작용 효과가 나타났다. 마지막으로 상담자의 소진을 예측하는 데 연령과 자기자비의 주효과가 나타났다. 즉, 자기자비는 상담자의 공감능력, 자기효능감, 소진을 예측할 뿐만 아니라, 연령은 자기자비가 상담자의 공감능력과 자기효능감을 예측하는데 조절변인으로 작용함을 확인하였다. 이러한 연구 결과가 상담 및 후속연구에 갖는 의의와 시사점을 논의하였다.
