기부행동의 성별 차에 관한 연구 = An Exploration on the Gender Difference in Charitable Giving

This study is targeted to understand the effect of gender difference on charitable giving(participation and money) by exploring influencing factors of giving. Specifically, the study focuses on how gender affects giving behaviors in a different way depending on giving motivation, resource and social capital factors. For the analysis, this study utilizes Seoul Welfare Panel Survey Data in 2010 and employs Tobit regression analysis method. The finding shows that woman participate in charitable giving more man, but man give more money to charity than woman. In case of female, responsibility(+), religiosity(+), empathy concern(+), happiness(+) in motivation factor and income(+) in resource factor and trust(-) in social capital factor have statistically significant effects on giving money. In case of male, responsibility(+), religiosity(+), happiness(+) in motivation factor, education(+), income(+) in resource factor and age(+) and religion(+) turn out to have meaningful effects on giving money. The finding suggests the list of influencing factors on giving behaviors that show different effects depending on gender and this leads to discussion on how non-profit organization could foster giving activities.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

지난 반세기 동안 여성들의 급격한 사회적․경제적 지위변화에 따라 최근 급성장하고 있는 자선시장(Philanthropy market)에 있어 여성의 역할 또한 새롭게 주목받고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 성별에 따른 기부행동에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하고자「서울복지패널」2010년 데이터를 활용하여 프로빗과 토빗 분석을 실시하였다. 성별 기부행동에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 요인으로는 선행연구를 기반으로 한 자원요인, 사회자본요인, 기부동기요인을 중심으로 성별 기부행동에 대한 영향을 살펴보았다.
기부참여와 기부금액에 있어 성별 차를 분석한 결과, 여성이 남성에 비해 기부참여 비율은 높으나 기부금액에 있어서는 남성의 기여가 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 성별 기부참여에 영향을 미치는 요인을 주요 독립변수 영역별로 살펴본 결과, 남성과 여성의 기부참여에 영향을 미치는 요인에는 큰 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 단, 여성의 기부참여에 있어 신뢰(-)가 남성에 비해 유의한 영향을 미칠 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 기부금액의 경우, 남성과 여성 모두 공통적으로 자원요인으로는 소득(+)이,
동기요인으로는 책임감(+), 종교성(+), 행복감(+)이 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 성별 기부금액에 대한 영향요인의 차이로는 남성의 경우, 자원요인 중 교육수준(+)이 기부금액에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 여성의 경우는 동기요인 중 동정심(+)과 사회자본요인 중 신뢰(-)가 기부금액에 유의한 영향을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 성별의 기부행동에 미치는 영향 요인에 대한 새로운 지식기반을 마련함과 동시에 성별에 따라 보다 세분화된 기부자 집단의 차이에 대한 이해를 제고하는데 기여하는 의의를 지닌다.
