직무스트레스와 직무탈진감: 교정공무원을 중심으로 = Job Stress and Job Burnout: A Focus on Correctional Officers

Job burnout can be described as an emotional reaction to keeping a certain distance from work in order to protect oneself from stress and tension occurring in the process of performing a job. Until now studies on job burnout have been conducted on emotional feelings occurring on the job attaching importance to interpersonal relationships. Though there is a strong possibility that the correctional officers playing a role in detaining and rehabilitating prisoners experience job burnout, few studies of burnout have been carried out on correctional officers. Besides, it was not possible to make a detailed analysis of the effect produced on job burnout after specifically subdividing job stresses. Hence, this study tests the relationship between job stress and job burnout in more detail, based on the results of surveying correctional officers. According to the results of analysis, it was shown that the correctional officers experienced a higher level of job burnout, as the scores on dissatisfaction with organizational system, relationship conflict, and job demand were higher among sub-factors of job stress.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

직무탈진감(job burnout)은 직무수행의 과정에서 발생하는 스트레스와 긴장으로부터 자신을 보호하기 위해 업무와 일정한 거리를 유지하려는 감정반응을 의미한다. 지금까지 이러한 직무탈진감은 대인관계를 중시하는 직업에서 발생하는 정서적 감정에 주를 두어 연구되어왔다. 재소자의 구금과 교화의 역할을 수행하는 교정공무원(correctional officers)은 직무탈진감에 이를 가능성이 높은데도, 지금까지 이들 교정공무원에 대한 연구는 거의 이루어지지 못하였다. 또한 직무스트레스(job stress)를 구체적으로 세분화하여 이들 요소가 직무탈진감에 주는 영향을 정밀하게 분석하지 못하였다. 이에 이 연구는 교정공무원에 대한 설문조사결과를 바탕으로 직무스트레스와 직무탈진감과의 관계를 보다 세밀하게 검증한다. 분석 결과, 직무스트레스의 세부요인 중 직무요구, 관계갈등, 조직체계에 대한 불만이 높을수록 교정공무원이 직무탈진감을 높게 경험하는 것으로 나타났다.
