      • Changing Partners Technique in Reversible Steganography

        우재현,조원진,Woo, Jae-Hyeon,Cho, Weon-Jin Korea Institute of Information and Telecommunicati 2007 정보통신설비학회논문지 Vol.6 No.3

Steganography is hiding messages in cover materials like image, audio, etc. The previous studies are limited in the shifting problem of the histogram and capacity. This paper proposes a new technology which overcomes these two problems. Our new technology uses two colors as a pair and chooses either changing to its partner or remaining as they are according as each hiding bit. As a result, we show that the result of this technology shows that the hiding capacity is higher than other methods.

      • Performance of Prioritized Service Discipline Based on Hop Count for Optical Burst Switched Networks

        김동옥,Kim, Dong-Ok Korea Institute of Information and Telecommunicati 2007 정보통신설비학회논문지 Vol.6 No.3

In this paper, we propose a new prioritized Optical Burst Switching (OBS) protocol based on a hop count, which can provide efficient utilization in optical networks. Under several legacy schemes, a switch drops the burst with the shortest time regardless of its traversed hop count. As a result, a dropped burst that have been traversed many hops might cause increased bandwidth waste compared to one that has traversed a few hops. To improve this problem, we propose the Just Enough Time (JET) with a hop counting scheme which can reduce the wasted bandwidth by prioritizing the burst traversed many hops over others. From the simulation result, it is preyed, we show that the proposed scheme has advantages against legacy schemes in terms of the burst blocking probability and the link utilization.

      • A Broadband Microstrip Array Antenna for 3G Smart Antenna System Testbed

Rashid, Zainol Abidin Abdul,Islam, Mohammad Tariqul,Jiunn, Ng Kok Korea Institute of Information and Telecommunicati 2007 정보통신설비학회논문지 Vol.6 No.1

A compact and broadband $4{\times}1$ array antenna was developed for 3G smart antenna system testbed. The $4{\times}1$ uniform linear array antenna was designed to operate at 1.885 to 2.2GHz with a total bandwidth of 315MHz. The array elements were based on the novel broadband L-probe fed inverted hybrid E-H (LIEH) shaped microstrip patch, which offers 22% size reduction to the conventional rectangular microstrip patch antenna. For steering the antenna beam, a commercial variable attenuator (KAT1D04SA002), a variable phase shifter (KPH350SC00) with four units each, and the corporate 4-ways Wilkinson power divider which was fabricated in-house were integrated to form the beamforming feed network. The developed antenna has an impedance bandwidth of 17.32% ($VSWR{\leq}1.5$), 21.78% ($VSWR{\leq}2$) with respect to center frequency 2.02GHz and with an achievable gain of 11.9dBi. The design antenna offer a broadband, compact and mobile solution for a 3G smart antenna testbed to fully characterized the IMT-2000 radio specifications and system performances.

      • A new approach for k-anonymity based on tabu search and genetic algorithm

        Run, Cui,Kim, Hyoung-Joong,Lee, Dal-Ho Korea Institute of Information and Telecommunicati 2011 정보통신설비학회논문지 Vol.10 No.4

Note that k-anonymity algorithm has been widely discussed in the area of privacy protection. In this paper, a new search algorithm to achieve k-anonymity for database application is introduced. A lattice is introduced to form a solution space for a k-anonymity problem and then a hybrid search method composed of tabu search and genetic algorithm is proposed. In this algorithm, the tabu search plays the role of mutation in the genetic algorithm. The hybrid method with independent tabu search and genetic algorithm is compared, and the hybrid approach performs the best in average case.

      • A New Method for Color Feature Representation of Color Image in Content-Based Image Retrieval Projection Maps

        김원일,Kim, Won-Ill Korea Institute of Information and Telecommunicati 2010 정보통신설비학회논문지 Vol.9 No.2

The most popular technique for image retrieval in a heterogeneous collection of color images is the comparison of images based on their color histogram. The color histogram describes the distribution of colors in the color space of a color image. In the most image retrieval systems, the color histogram is used to compute similarities between the query image and all the images in a database. But, small changes in the resolution, scaling, and illumination may cause important modifications of the color histogram, and so two color images may be considered to be very different from each other even though they have completely related semantics. A new method of color feature representation based on the 3-dimensional RGB color map is proposed to improve the defects of the color histogram. The proposed method is based on the three 2-dimensional projection map evaluated by projecting the RGB color space on the RG, GB, and BR surfaces. The experimental results reveal that the proposed is less sensitive to small changes in the scene and that achieve higher retrieval performances than the traditional color histogram.

      • A Reversible Audio Watermarking Scheme

        Kim, Hyoung-Joong,Sachnev, Vasiliy,Kim, Ki-Seob Korea Institute of Information and Telecommunicati 2006 정보통신설비학회논문지 Vol.5 No.1

A reversible audio watermarking algorithm is presented in this paper. This algorithm transforms the audio signal with the integer wavelet transform first in order to enhance the correlation between neighbor audio samples. Audio signal has low correlation between neighbor samples, which makes it difficult to apply difference expansion scheme. Second, a novel difference expansion scheme is used to embed more data by reducing the size of location map. Therefore, the difference expansion scheme used in this paper theoretically secures high embedding capacity under low perceptual distortion. Experiments show that this scheme can hide large number of information bits and keeps high perceptual quality.

      • Implementation and Performance Evaluation of TMSC6711 DSP-based Digital Beamformer

Rashid, Zainol Abidin Abdul,Islam, Mohammad Tariqul,Chang Sheng , Liew Korea Institute of Information and Telecommunicati 2006 정보통신설비학회논문지 Vol.5 No.1

This paper discusses the implementation and performance evaluation of a DSP-based digital beamformer using the Texas Instrument TMSC6711 DSP processor for smart antenna applications. Two adaptive beamforming algorithms which served as the brain for the beamformer, the Normalized Least-Mean-Square (NLMS) and the Constant Modulus Algorithms (CMA) were embedded into the processor and evaluated. Result shows that the NLMS-based digital beamformer outperforms the CMA-based digital beamformer: 1)For NLMS algorithm, the antenna steers to the direction of the desired user even at low iteration value and the suppression level towards the interferer increases as the number of iteration increase. For CMA algorithm, the beam radiation pattern slowly steers to the desired user as the number of iteration increased, but at arate slower than NLMS algorithm and the sidelobe level is shown to increases as the number of iteration increase. 2) The NLMS algorithm has faster convergence than CMA algorithm and the error convergence for CMA algorithm sometimes is subject to misadjustment.

      • WCDMA Simulator Engine for 3G Wireless Network

Rashld Zainol Abidin Abdul,Ramaiah Karamchand Babu Atchitha Korea Institute of Information and Telecommunicati 2003 정보통신설비학회논문지 Vol.2 No.3

Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) is one of the air interface techniques proposed for the third generation (3G) mobile communication system. WCDMA was selected because it fulfills the IMT-2000 requirements for higher data rate trans mission, support of multimedia capabilities and other flexible services due to its variable bit rates and larger bandwidth, improved capacity and coverage, efficient power control and support for advanced and improved detector structures. Performance evaluation of 3G wireless network through simulation plays an important role in the design and implementation of the actual system, aiding the wireless system designer by providing them the necessary performance conformance statistics prior to implementation. In accordance with this goal, a simulator engine was developed entirely on a MATLAB platform to emulate the behaviour of the WCDMA air interface for both the uplink and downlink in a real world fading mobile environment. This paper discuss the development of the simulator along with a brief description of its functionalities and user interface. The WCDMA air interface mode focused in this paper is in accordance to the 3GPPs frequency division duplex (FDD) mode and restricted to the physical layer description. Performance results for the selected cases for the downlink, uplink, varying mobile velocity and sampling rates are also provided.
