        The Max quantizer is a well-known algorithm for accomplishing efficient approximate representation of analog samples from a signal source by using values when the probability density function of the source is known. In some application, it is desired to have embedded quantization that allows successively better approximation to the input sample when additional information bits become available. We know that the Max quantizer lacks this feature. However, we will show that the Max quantizers for nonuniformly distributed sources are embedded quantization. And then, we proposed two different methods to achieve embedded quantization for minimum distortion. The first is method which is considered to be the reconstruction level of the transmitted bits. The second is method using centroids according to the transmitted bits to minimize the MSE with the transmitted bits only.

      • 산업용 연축전지의 충전제어 알고리즘 설계

        The lead-acid batteries are widely used for movable power source. But, it is difficult to analyze their charging characteristics influenced by various parameters. Because these parameters have non-linear and time-variant characteristics. In this study, the charging characteristics of high capacity lead-acid battery 630AH is investigated through experiments with respect to variations of temperature and life cycle in the charging process. Also, the database of battery's characteristics are established, and the new charging algorithm is suggested using the database. This new charging concept will be useful to development advanced battery charger adapted to battery's condition changes.

      • Loop유도경로를 지닌 무인 운반차 시스템에서의 Parking 위치 결정방법

        본 논문에서는 루프(loop)유도경로를 가진 AGV시스템에서 단일(single) AGV의 대기위치(parking position)를 결정하는 數理模型을 제시하였으며, 제시된 모형의 목적함수는 그 AGV가 parking position에서부터 출발하여 作業位置(pickup point)에 도착하기까지의 최대운영시간을 최소화하는 것으로 하였다. 따라서, parking position의 결정문제를 數理模型化하고 최적해를 구하기 위한 발견적 탐색 알고리즘을 제시하였다. 그에 따른 예제를 數理模型과 탐색알고리즘을 적용하여 最適解를 算出해 보았다.

        In this paper, we implemented the Video Presentation System using Multicast IP in MBone(Multicast Backbone) environment. The software, which is composed of the transmitter and the receiver, has been developed with Visual C++, Video For Windows Development Toolkit, and Winsock. The implemented system was tested in LAN environment equipped with the multicast router, and is being tested over the Internet.

      • 하이브리드 電氣 自動車의 動力傳達 메커니즘 改善에 관한 硏究

        Growing environmental and economic concerns have lead to recent efforts to produce more fuel efficient and lower emissions vehicles. Hybrid Electric Vehicles(ab. HEVs) are the most promising designs to reach these goals. In this paper, We present an of a Power Train of the Hybrid Electric Vehicle(ab. PTHEV). We introduce a different concept of PTHEV than in the present research of PTHEV. This PTHEV includes two benefits of serial(Minimum emission and Maximum efficiency) and parallel(Maximum Power Train efficiency by direct drive engine) PTHEV. Also, this mechanism can avoid driving the engine in the low speed regions.

        Vidio is an important and challenging media and requires sophisticated indexing schemes for efficient retrieval from visual databases. Generally, video streams are composed of video shots, which is consecutive video sequences recored during a record operation of camera. Scene change detection is a key issue in high-level video processing. In this paper, we propose a new scene change detection algorithms on compressed video using DCT coefficients and MB type.

      • Pick-and-Put Simulation with a Redundant Manipulator under Teleoperation

        Operator-in-the-loop simulation is applied to pick-and-put operation with a redundant manipulator. The concept of supervisory control has been used to switch between teleoperation and autonomous operation: autonomous operation for fine, local motion control, and teleoperation for large, gross motion and force control. The simulation includes the manipulator's kinematics and its open-and closed-chain dynamics under position and force control. They are integrated with a pair of joystick hand controllers and computer graphics. Since the hand controllers specify the desired position and orientation of the end-effector, the inverse kinematics adopted an iterative use of the resolved-motion rate control in which the constraint Jacobian is constructed on-line and is used in the pseudo-inverse method. An efficient recursive algorithm is then used for the manipulator dynamics. Rear-time simulation is carried out on a two-processor IRIS workstation, with one processor for dynamics and control computation and the other for graphic visualization. The simulation shows a potential for previewing the planned operations, examining task performance, investigating control strategy, and evaluating the overall system integration.

      • 질점과 관절좌표계를 이용한 기계시스템의 동역학 운동방정식

        본 논문은 체계적으로 탄성이 있는 기계시스템의 운동방정식을 구성하는 새로운 방법을 제안한다. 물체는 질점들로 이루어 진 것으로 모델하고 질점들은 서로 제한식으로 구속되어 있다. 공간에서의 물체의 위치와 각 위치를 사용하는 전통적인 기술방법보다 서로 의존하는 질점들의 좌표로 물체의 위치와 자세를 기술하도록 한다. 물체의 질량이 질점에 집중되어 있고 힘도 질점에 집중 된 것으로 가정한다. 물체들이 상대 운동이 있는 관절로 연결된 경우에 각 물체를 이루는 질점들 사이의 제한식으로 관절을 수식화 할 수 있고 이들 모든 제한식은 대수방정식으로 표시되며 이러한 수식화는 병진운동 자유도 만을 포함하는 장점이 있다. 이러한 장점이 있는 질점좌표를 사용하고 보의 탄성에너지를 곡율반경을 이용하여 나타내는 새로운 수식화 방법을 제안한다. 예제를 통하여 본 방법이 효과적임을 보인다. A new systematic method to derive the equations of motion of a flexible mechanical system is proposed. A flexible body is modeled as a sum of mass particle with inter-connecting constraints. The configuration of a body in space is described with a set of dependent point coordinates instead of a classical translational and rotational coordinates. The mass and applied forces are distributed to the points. A Joint constraining each body can be modeled as a algebraic constraint equation of a point coordinates. This methods use only translational coordinates and sample algebraic constraints. A new beam formulation for flexible mechanical system dynamics is developed utilizing radius of curvature of the beam and point coordinate. Numerical examples are presented to show the effectiveness of this method.

      • 시험 불가능 결함의 효율적인 확인에 관한 연구

        This paper presents a new algorithm to identify untestable faults in combinational logic circuits. In a combinational logic circuit, an untestable fault is always caused by a redundancy of circuits. We find a redundancy of their circuits by analyzing regions between fanout stems and reconvergent gates. This paper introduce to identify untestable faults in combinational logic circuits using the critical-pair path is defined as a extended concept of critical path. And this method is efficient comparing to other methods. The experimental simulation results of other methods for the ISCAS85 bench mark testing circuit are analyzed.

      • Optical Hough Transform을 이용한 선분의 위치와 길이 추출

        In this paper, we proposed the new method of extracting the position and the length of the input-line by using only two parameters (θ,ρ) from the HT data. The computer simulations and the optical experiments by using the HT CGH(Computer Generated Hologram) filter are performed. The results of experiments are very similar to those of the computer simulation.
