        Electrochemical and microscopic analysis on corrosion behavior of steel bars in slag/fly ash-cement paste subjected to seawater attack

        A series of corrosion experiments of cement paste-steel bar specimens with different contents of slag and fly ash were performed to investigate the influence of slag/fly ash on the corrosion behavior of steel bars in concrete under seawater. In this investigation, the corrosion behavior of specimen was electrochemically monitored by open-circuit potential (OCP), Tafel polarization (TP) and electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS). Meanwhile, SEM/EDS and XRD were applied to microscopically analyze the microstructure deterioration of materials. Results showed that, replacing cement with slag/fly ash caused a decrease in Ca(OH)2 as well as an increase in C-S-H gel and Friedel's salt in concrete, which can improve the chloride-solidification ability and slow down the chloride diffusion in concrete by both physical adsorption and chemical binding, and thereafter promoting the corrosion resistance of steel bars in concrete in marine environment. Compared to slag, the equal replacing content of fly ash can contribute to a better improving effect on the corrosion resistance of reinforced concrete in marine environment. In this study, a replacement of cement by 20% slag+20% fly ash led to an optimum improving effect on its corrosion resistance. In addition, the results also indicate that the corrosion of reinforced concrete caused by seawater attack does not occur at a uniform rate, but it can firstly maintain a long-term uncorroded state, and then develops rapidly after pitting corrosion occurs.

        Theoretical Solutions for a Circular Opening in an Elastic–brittle–plastic Rock Mass Incorporating the Out-of-plane Stress and Seepage Force

        Seepage force is simplified as seepage volumetric force in the stress field along the radial direction. Out-of-plane stress and seepage force are incorporated, and the theoretical solutions for stress, displacement, and plastic radius of a circular opening for the elastic-brittle-plastic and elastic-plastic rock mass are proposed based on the Mohr–Coulomb (MC) and generalized Hoek-Brown (HB) failure criteria. The presented solution and Wang’s solution (2012) are compared, and the corrected version of the proposed method is validated. Numerical examples of the proposed method based on the MC and generalized HB failure criteria reveal that the distributions of stress and displacement in the surrounding rock of the tunnel are significantly influenced by seepage force and out-ofplane stress. Displacement and plastic radius when seepage force and out-of-plane stress are considered are larger than those when the seepage force is not considered; the regulations of stress, however, run opposite. The results of displacement and plastic radius based on the generalized HB failure criterion are larger than those based on the MC failure criterion.

        A Testbed of Performance Evaluation for Fingerprint Based WLAN Positioning System

        Fingerprint positioning is a main stream and key technique for seamless positioning systems. In this paper, we develop a performance evaluation testbed for fingerprint based Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) positioning system. The testbed consists of positioning server, positioning terminal, Access Point (AP) units, positioning accuracy analysis system and testing scenarios. Different from other testbeds tended to focus on testing in same situation, in the proposed testbed, a couple of scenarios are set to test the positioning system including indoor and outdoor environments. Handset-side positioning mode and network-side positioning mode are provided simultaneously. Variety of motion models, such as static model, low-speed model and high-speed model are considered as well as different positioning algorithms. Finally, some implementation cases are analyzed to verify the credibility of the testbed.

        Microwave Absorption Enhancement of Fe/C Core–Shell Hybrid Derived from a Metal-Organic Framework

        Core–shell structured Fe/C have been successfully derived from a metal-organic framework for microwave absorbing. Based on the measured electromagnetic parameters, it is found that the maximum reflection loss (RL) of Fe/C reaches 40 dB at 5.8 GHz with a thickness of 3.0 mm and the broadest absorption bandwidth (RL < -10 dB) is up to 6.0 GHz (from 11.2 to 17.2 GHz) with a thickness of 1.5 mm. The excellent microwave absorption is mainly ascribed to the multiple reflections, good impedance matching, dielectric loss and interface polarization originating from the core–shell structure. It is believed that Fe/C can be a promising microwave absorbing material.

        Struggle refers to the process of overcoming various difficulties for a goal. The spirit of struggle is a positive attitude and reaction reflected in the process of struggle. Cultivating the spirit of struggle of college students is the call of the new era. In essence, the cultivation of the spirit of struggle is a process of learning, which is in line with Bandura's Observation Learning Theory(Bandura, 1977):Attention, Maintenance, Reproduction and Motivation. The cultivation of College Students' spirit of struggle in the new era is also a learning process of enriched experience. It is necessary to cultivate the spirit of struggle into the soul of college students and make it become a habit of students. Moreover, it is crucial to carry out adaptive transformation of Bandura's observation learning theory. By studying the mechanism of the spirit of struggle of college students, taking innovation and entrepreneurship education as a means, and aiming at cultivating the connotation of President Xi's thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, this paper constructs the AIST model for cultivating the spirit of struggle of college students in the new era. This model includes online learning acceptance platform(Acceptance), classroom experience stimulation platform(Inspiration), iterative training solidified platform (Solidification), and competition practice transfer platform(Transfer). The purpose of this model is to provide a practical way for universities to fulfill the fundamental task of moral education and cultivate qualified socialist builders and successors. The number of students using the online learning acceptance platform ranked the first among that of the similar courses in China; The classroom experience stimulation platform and the iterative training solidified platform support each other, with an effective rate of 97%; The competition practice transfer platform has realized the continuous growth of the number of awards won in competitions for three years. The direction of future efforts is to establish the external mechanism of the spirit of struggle, to ensure the effectiveness of classroom experience and iterative training, to cultivate teachers with coaching skills, and to accurately measure the transformation point of external and endogenous motivation.
