A finite element method (FEM) of B-spline wavelet on the interval (BSWI) is used in this paper to solve the static and vibration problems of thin plate. Instead of traditional polynomial interpolation, the scaling functions of two-dimensional tensor product BSWI are employed to construct the transverse displacements field. The method combines the accuracy of B-spline functions approximation and various basis functions for structural analysis. Some numerical examples are studied to demonstrate the proposed method and the numerical results presented are in good agreement with the solutions of other methods.
New decoupled wavelet bases for multiresolution structural analysis
Youming Wang,Xuefeng Chen,Yumin He,Zhengjia He 국제구조공학회 2010 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.35 No.2
One of the intractable problems in multiresolution structural analysis is the decoupling computation between scales, which can be realized by the operator-orthogonal wavelets based on the lifting scheme. The multiresolution finite element space is described and the formulation of multiresolution finite element models for structural problems is discussed. Various operator-orthogonal wavelets are constructed by the lifting scheme according to the operators of multiresolution finite element models. A dynamic multiresolution algorithm using operator-orthogonal wavelets is proposed to solve structural problems. Numerical examples demonstrate that the lifting scheme is a flexible and efficient tool to construct operator-orthogonal wavelets for multiresolution structural analysis with high convergence rate.

Background: The decreased renal function is known to be associated with biological aging, of which the main pathological features are chronic inflammation and renal interstitial fibrosis. In previous studies, we reported that total saponins from Panax japonicus (SPJs) can availably protect acute myocardial ischemia. We proposed that SPJs might have similar protective effects for aging-associated renal interstitial fibrosis. Thus, in the present study, we evaluated the overall effect of SPJs on renal fibrosis. Methods: Sprague-Dawley (SD) aging rats were given SPJs by gavage beginning from 18 months old, at 10 ㎎/㎏/d and 60 ㎎/㎏/d, up to 24 months old. After the experiment, changes in morphology, function and fibrosis of their kidneys were detected. The levels of serum uric acid (UA), β2-microglobulin (β2-MG) and cystatin C (Cys C) were assayed with ELISA kits. The levels of extracellular matrix (ECM), matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs), inflammatory factors and changes of oxidative stress parameters were examined. Results: After SPJs treatment, SD rats showed significantly histopathological changes in kidneys accompanied by decreased renal fibrosis and increased renal function; As compared with those in 3-month group, the levels of serum UA, Cys C and β2-MG in 24-month group were significantly increased (p < 0.05). Compared with those in the 24-month group, the levels of serum UA, Cys C and β2-MG in the SPJ-H group were significantly decreased. While ECM was reduced and the levels of MMP-2 and MMP-9 were increased, the levels of TIMP-1, TIMP-2 and transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1)/Smad signaling were decreased; the expression level of phosphorylated nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) was down-regulated with reduced inflammatory factors; meanwhile, the expression of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2-antioxidant response element (Nrf2-ARE) signaling was aggrandized. Conclusion: These results suggest that SPJs treatment can improve age-associated renal fibrosis by inhibiting TGF-β1/Smad, NFκB signaling pathways and activating Nrf2-ARE signaling pathways and that SPJs can be a potentially valuable anti-renal fibrosis drug.

<P>Halogenated solvents are prevailingly used in the fabrication of nonfullerene organic solar cells (NF-OSCs) at the current stage, imposing significant restraints on their practical applications. By copolymerizing phthalimide or thieno[3,4-<I>c</I>]pyrrole-4,6-dione (TPD) with 1,4-di(3-alkoxy-2-thienyl)-2,5-difluorophenylene (DOTFP), which features intramolecular noncovalent interactions, the backbone planarity of the resulting DOTFP-based polymers can be effectively tuned, yielding distinct solubilities, aggregation characters, and chain packing properties. Polymer DOTFP-PhI with a more twisted backbone showed a lower degree of aggregation in solution but an increased film crystallinity than polymer DOTFP-TPD. An organic thin-film transistor and NF-OSC based on DOTFP-PhI, processed with a nonhalogenated solvent, exhibited a high hole mobility up to 1.20 cm2 V-1 s-1 and a promising power conversion efficiency up to 10.65%, respectively. The results demonstrate that DOTFP is a promising building block for constructing wide bandgap polymers and backbone coplanarity tuning is an effective strategy to develop high-performance organic semiconductors processable with a nonhalogenated solvent.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
A new method to detect cracks in plate-like structures with though-thickness cracks
Xiang, Jiawei,Nackenhorst, Udo,Wang, Yanxue,Jiang, Yongying,Gao, Haifeng,He, Yumin Techno-Press 2014 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.14 No.3
In this paper, a simple two-step method for structural vibration-based health monitoring for beam-like structures have been extended to plate-like structures with though-thickness cracks. Crack locations and severities of plate-like structures are detected using a hybrid approach. The interval wavelet transform is employed to extract crack singularity locations from mode shape and support vector regression (SVR) is applied to predict crack serviettes form crack severity detection database (the relationship of natural frequencies and crack serviettes) using several natural frequencies as inputs. Of particular interest is the natural frequencies estimation for cracked plate-like structures using Rayleigh quotient. Only the natural frequencies and mode shapes of intact structures are needed to calculate the natural frequencies of cracked plate-like structures using a simple formula. The crack severity detection database can be easily obtained with this formula. The hybrid method is investigated using numerical simulation and its validity of the usage of interval wavelet transform and SVR are addressed.
