Design procedure for modal controllers for defective and nearly defective systems
Chen, Yu Dong,Chen, Su Huan,Yang, Guang Techno-Press 2003 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.15 No.5
This paper presents a procedure for designing feedback controllers for defective systems with repeated eigenvalues, and also for a nearly defective system with close eigenvalues. For the nearly defective system, we first transform it into a defective one, and then apply the same method to deal with the nearly defective system. A method for computing the gain matrices is discussed here. The methodologies proposed are based on the modal coordinate equation to avoid the tedious mathematical manipulation. As an application of the present procedure, a numerical example is given.

The transfer of microorganisms is important process for ecosystems. Microorganisms in dryland can transport itself to wetland through atmospheric diffusion, but only few papers reported about the atmospheric bioaerosol present over dryland. We carried out the direct sampling using a tethered balloon over Dunhuang City, China's northwestern dryland. Bioaerosols were collected using a tethered balloon with a bioaerosol collector at 820 m above the ground (1,960 m above the sea level) around noon on August 17, 2007. The bioaerosols were cultured after the collection at Dunhuang Meteorological observatory. Two strains of molds were isolated using the Nutrient agar medium. About 400-bp 18S rRNA partial sequences were amplified by PCR and determined afterwards. The results of a homology search by 18S rRNA sequences of isolates in DNA databases (GenBank, DDBJ, and EMBL) and an observation of the form revealed that two bioaerosols in the convective mixed layer over Dunhuang City were Cladosporium sp. and Aspergillus sp.
Property Alignment of Linked Data Based on Similarity between Functions
Yu Liu,Shi-Hong Chen,Jin-Guang Gu 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Database Theory and Appli Vol.8 No.4
Owing to the complex structure and multi-meaning, property alignment is generally regarded as a challenging problem in the context of linked data. In this paper, we propose a novel method to align properties between datasets of linked data. Considering the role of properties in RDF triples, we regard all properties of linked data as property functions, and convert the problem of property alignment to the similarity evaluation between property functions, while the equivalent instances as inputs of property functions. Based on the similarity of property functions, the property alignment process of linked data is introduced. In order to prove the validity, we use the method to align properties in five representative domains between DBpeida and YAGO, DBpedia and LinkedGeoData respectively. The experimental results show that our method is independent of the property naming rules and can retrieve some matching properties ignored by other methods. In addition, our method requires fewer entity co-reference links than the link statistical approach.
Detection of PCB77 by Indirect Competitive Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay in Sea Sediment Samples
Chen, Han-Yu,Zhuang, Hui-Sheng,Yang, Guang-Xin Korean Chemical Society 2013 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.34 No.3
3,3',4,4'-Tetrachlorobiphenyl (IUPAC PCB77) is one of seven indicative polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in the surface sediments. The current study presents a novel polyclonal antibody for the determination of the PCB77 using indirect competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Under optimum conditions, PCB77 was determined within the concentration range of 0.01-100 ${\mu}g\;L^{-1}$, with a detection limit of 0.057 ${\mu}g\;L^{-1}$. The assays were tested for their cross-reactivity profiles using 3 selected congeners and 4 Aroclor products. The assays were highly specific for coplanar PCB congeners, but less specific for Aroclor1248. The spiked recoveries from five sediment samples were 86%-114% for PCB77 from ELISA, which were satisfactory. The current study demonstrated that the developed antiserum and immunoassay procedure can be used to detect PCB77 in environmental samples. The results of the sediment analysis were confirmed by conventional GC/ECD.
Electronic Structure, Phase Transition, and Elastic Properties of ScC under High Pressure
Yu-Xin Zhao,Jun Zhu,Yan-Jun Hao,Zi-Yuan Li,Long-Qing Chen,Guang-Fu Ji 한국물리학회 2015 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.67 No.12
The structural properties and the phase transition for scandium carbide (ScC) have been studied in NaCl (B1), CsCl (B2), ZB (B3), WZ (B4), NiAs (B81), WC (Bh), and Pmmn structures by using the pseudopotential plane-wave method in the framework of the density functional theory. Our theoretical results show that the most stable structure is the B1 phase, contrary to the result of Rahim et al. The phase transitions B1 ! Pmmn and Pmmn ! B2 are predicted at 83.7 and 109.7 GPa, respectively. At the same time, we find that the B3, B4, B81, and Bh phases are not stable over the whole pressure range considered. In particular, the elastic constants of Pmmn-ScC under high pressure are obtained successfully. The effects of pressure on the elastic properties of B1-ScC and Pmmn-ScC are also predicted. The Debye temperatures and the sound velocities of these two structures are estimated from the elastic constants, and by analyzing G/B, the brittle-ductile behavior of ScC is assessed. In addition, the density of states of B1-ScC at high pressures is also discussed.

The ligand-binding function of odorant binding proteins (OBPs) that are expressed exclusively or enriched in antennae are well-studied, whilst the ligand binding properties of relatively low expressed OBPs in insect antennae are still unclear. Here, two low expressed GmolOBPs (namely GmolOBP12 and GmolOBP16) were cloned based on the antennal transcriptome of Grapholita molesta, and then their expression profiles and binding properties were investigated via real-time quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR) and fluorescence binding assays, respectively. Multiple sequence alignment and phylogenetic tree analyses displayed that both of GmolOBP12 and GmolOBP16 possessed the typical six-cysteine motifs unique to the classic OBPs subfamily and were classified as such. Although the abundance of transcripts of GmolOBP12 and GmolOBP16 were relatively low compared to that of many other OBPs in the antennal transcriptome of G. molesta, qRT-PCR results indicated that the transcript levels of GmolOBP12 and GmolOBP16 in antennae were significantly higher than those in other tissues. GmolOBP12 displayed higher expression level in male antennae than in female antennae, while the transcript level of GmolOBP16 in antennae was similar for both sexes. Both recombinant GmolOBP12 and GmolOBP16 exhibited strong binding affinities to the sex pheromone (Z)-8-dodecenyl alcohol and host-plant volatile pear ester. Besides, rGmolOBP12 showed outstanding binding affinities to (E)-2-hexenal, benzaldehyde, 1-hexanol, and (Z)-3-hexenyl acetate with K i values of 4.21, 6.81, 4.68 and 4.68 μM, respectively. rGmolOBP16 had moderate binding abilities with hexanal, decanal, 1-hexanol, methyl myristate and benzonitrile. We speculated that GmolOBP12 may have dual functions in recognition of green leaf volatiles and sex pheromone components and GmolOBP16 may participate in the detection of host-plant volatiles in chemoreception.
