A CHARACTERIZATION OF PARABOLA
Yu, Yanhua,Liu, Huili Korean Mathematical Society 2008 대한수학회보 Vol.45 No.4
In this paper, the parabola will be characterized as the plane curve whose curvature function and support function satisfy a condition, where we define the support function as the distance from origin to the tangent line.

Monocarboxylate transporter 2 (MCT2) is the predominant monocarboxylate transporter expressed by neurons. MCT2 plays an important role in brain energy metabolism. Stroke survivors are at high risk of cognitive impairment. We reported previously that stroke-induced cognitive impairment was related to impaired energy metabolism. In the present study, we report that cognitive function was impaired after stroke in rats. We found that MCT2 expression, but not that of MCT1 or MCT4, was markedly decreased in the rat hippocampus at 7 and 28 days after transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO). Moreover, MCT2 overexpression promoted recovery of cognitive function after stroke. The molecular mechanism underlying these effects may be related to an increase in adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase-mediated mitochondrial biogenesis induced by overexpression of MCT2. Our findings suggest that MCT2 activation ameliorates cognitive impairment after stroke.

Aqueous extract of Vaccinium bracteatumThunb. leaves (VWFE) is traditionally used for foodpreservation in China, which is rich in flavonoids compounds. VWFE could effectively inhibit the growth of bothGram negative (Escherichia coli) and positive bacteria(Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis), however, noinhibition effects were observed on mold and yeast. Theminimum inhibitory concentration of VWFE were2.06 mg/ml, 1.03 mg/ml, and 4.11 mg/ml for E. coli, S. aureus and B. subtilis, respectively, which were 13%, 13%,and 26% of sodium benzoate and 23%, 11%, and 46% ofpotassium sorbate. Cell membrane permeability assaysindicated that cell membrane disruption was one of theantibacterial mechanisms of VWFE. VWFE showed a goodthermal stability. The expiration date of VWFE was6 months at 25 C, which was predicted using the acceleratedaging method. This present work indicated
NON-DEVELOPABLE RULED SURFACES WITH TIMELIKE RULING IN MINKOWSKI 3-SPACE
Yun Yang,Yanhua Yu 대한수학회 2015 대한수학회보 Vol.52 No.4
In this paper, using pseudo-spherical Frenet frame of pseudo-spherical curves in hyperbolic space, we define the notion of the structure functions on the non-developable ruled surfaces with timelike ruling. Then we obtain the properties of the structure functions and a complete classification of the non-developable ruled surfaces with timelike ruling in Minkowski 3-space by the theories of the structure functions.
CENTROAFFINE GEOMETRY OF RULED SURFACES AND CENTERED CYCLIC SURFACES IN ℝ4
Yang, Yun,Yu, Yanhua Korean Mathematical Society 2018 대한수학회지 Vol.55 No.4
In this paper, we get several centroaffine invariant properties for a ruled surface in ${\mathbb{R}}^4$ with centroaffine theories of codimension two. Then by solving certain partial differential equations and studying a centroaffine surface with some centroaffine invariant properties in ${\mathbb{R}}^4$, we obtain such a surface is centroaffinely equivalent to a ruled surface or one of the flat centered cyclic surfaces. Furthermore, some centroaffine invariant properties for centered cyclic surfaces are considered.

The requirements for the production of optimized Zea mays transglutaminase (TGZo) using Pichia pastoris GS115 (pPIC9K-tgzo) were optimized in this study. Plackett–Burman design was used to screen variables that significantly influence TGZo production. Oleic acid, methanol, and loading volume were identified as the most significant parameters. Central composite design was employed to determine the optimal level of these three parameters for TGZo production. Results showed that 1078 mU/mL of TGZo activity and 7.6 mg/L of TGZo production were obtained under conditions of 0.07% oleic acid, 1.31% methanol, and 7.36% loading volume. To explore the functional characteristics of TGZo, it was used in yogurt. It was found that the addition of TGZo could produce yogurt with stronger acid gel and higher consistency, cohesiveness, index of viscosity, and apparent viscosity than the untreated product. Therefore, TGZo can be used as a substitute for microbial transglutaminase in the yogurt, even in the food industry.

As an opportunistic bacterial pathogen, Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 contains two phenazineproducing gene operons, phzA1B1C1D1E1F1G1 (phz1) and phzA2B2C2D2E2F2G2 (phz2), each of which is independently capable of encoding all enzymes for biosynthesizing phenazines, including phenazine-1-carboxylic acid and its derivatives. Other previous study reported that the RpoS-deficient mutant SS24 overproduced pyocyanin, a derivative of phenazine-1- carboxylic acid. However, it is not known how RpoS mediates the expression of two phz operons and regulates pyocyanin biosynthesis in detail. In this study, with deletion of the rpoS gene in the PAΔphz1 mutant and the PAΔphz2 mutant respectively, we demonstrated that RpoS exerted opposite regulatory roles on the expression of the phz1and phz2 operons. We also confirmed that the phz1 operon played a critical role and especially biosynthesized much more phenazines than the phz2 operon when the rpoS gene was knocked out in P. aeruginosa. By constructing the translational reporter fusion vector lasR’-’lacZ and the chromosomal fusion mutant PAΔlasR::lacZ, we verified that RpoS deficiency caused increased expression of lasR, a transcription regulator gene in a first quorum sensing system (las) that activates overexpression of the phz1 operon, suggesting that in the absence of RpoS, LasR might act as an intermediate in overproduction of phenazine biosynthesis mediated by the phz1 operon in P. aeruginosa.
