This study was performed to develop a rapid test kit for pathogenic Staphylococcus in various samples. The rapid detection kit has been fabricated based on nitrocellulose lateral-flow strip. Colloidal gold and Staphylococcus antibodies were used as a tag and a receptor, respectively. Manually spotted Staphylococcus antibody and anti-mouse antibody on the surface of nitrocellulose membrane were used as test and control lines, espectively. Feasibility of the rapid kit to detect Staphylococcus aureus in samples were evaluated. The intensity of the color of the tes line started to increase with the samples in which higher concentration of the cells were contained. The sensitivity of the sensor was 106 cfu/mL Staphylococcus spiked in PBS. Also, the rapid test kit could detect 105 cfu/mL of Staphylococcus in chicken meat extract.
Damping-off of Coastal Hogfennel Caused by Rhizoctonia solani AG-4
Youn-Gi Moon,Se-Won Kim,Hyun-Taek Seo,Wan-Gyu Kim 한국식물병리학회 2021 식물병연구 Vol.27 No.1
Damping-off symptoms were frequently observed on young plants of coastal hogfennel (Peucedanum ja- ponicum) grown in a farmer’s vinyl greenhouse located in Goseong, Gangwon Province, Korea during a dis- ease survey in June 2019. Incidence of the diseased plants was 50-70% in the vinyl greenhouse investigated during the disease survey. Eight isolates of Rhizoctonia sp. were obtained from the diseased plants. All the isolates were identified as Rhizoctonia solani AG-4 based on the morphological characteristics and anastomo- sis test. Three isolates of R. solani AG-4 were tested for pathogenicity on coastal hogfennel by artificial inocu- lation. All the tested isolates induced damping-off symptoms on the inoculated plants. The symptoms were similar to those observed in the farmer’s vinyl greenhouse investigated. This is the first report of R. solani AG-4 causing damping-off in coastal hogfennel.
Damping-off of Fischer’s Ragwort Caused by Rhizoctonia solani AG-2-2 (ⅢB)
( Youn-gi Moon ),( Ki-jin Park ),( Wan-gyu Kim ) 한국균학회 2021 韓國菌學會誌 Vol.49 No.3
In July 2019, damping-off symptoms of young Fischer’s ragwort (Ligularia fischeri) plants were observed in four vinyl greenhouses of a farmer located in Taebaek, Gangwon Province, Korea. This disease occurred in 20-30% of plants in the vinyl greenhouses investigated. Nine isolates of Rhizoctonia sp. were obtained from the diseased plants. All the isolates were identified as Rhizoctonia solani AG-2-2 (ⅢB), based on morphological, cultural characteristics, and anastomosis test. Three isolates were used for artificial inoculation test on Fischer’s ragwort. Pathogenicity of these isolates was confirmed on the plants with the inoculation tests. Damping-off symptoms observed on the inoculated plants were similar to those observed in the diseased plants in the vinyl greenhouses. This is the first report of R. solani AG-2-2 (ⅢB) being the causative agent in damping-off in Fischer’s ragwort.

Damping-off symptoms were frequently observed on young plants of Indian lettuce (Lactuca indica) grown in a farmer's vinyl greenhouse located in Goseong, Gangwon province of Korea during a disease survey in June 2019. The incidence of diseased plants in the vinyl greenhouse investigated was 30-50%. Four isolates of Rhizoctonia sp. were obtained from the diseased plants and identified as Rhizoctonia solani AG-4 based on the morphological characteristics and anastomosis test. Three isolates of R. solani AG-4 were tested for pathogenicity on Indian lettuce by artificial inoculation. All the tested isolates induced damping-off symptoms on the inoculated plants. The symptoms were similar to those observed in plants from the farmer's vinyl greenhouse investigated. This is the first report of R. solani AG-4 causing damping-off in Indian lettuce.
