CFRP composite laminates are widely used as structural materials for airplanes, automobile and aerospace vehicles because of their high strength and stiffness. This study aims to examine an effect of curvature on the penetration fracture characteristic of an orthotropic composite laminated shell. For the purpose, we manufactured orthotropic CFRP shell specimen with different curvatures, and conducted a penetration test using an air-gun. Those specimens were prepared to varied curvature radius(∞, 200mm, 150mm and 100mm)and were stacked to [O°3/90°3]s. When the specimen is subjected to transverse impact by a steel sphere(Φ10), the velocity of steel sphere was measured both before and after impact by determining the time for it to pass two ball-screen sensors located a known distance apart. As the curvature increases, the absorption energy and the critical penetration energy increased linearly because the resistance to the bending moment. Patterns of cracks caused by the penetration of CFRP laminated shells included fiber breakage, lamina fracture, matrix crack interlaminar crack and intralaminar crack.

Recently LED fish-attracting lamps have been more widely used in fisheries as low-cost and high-efficiency fishing gear, and development of long-life high-efficiency lamps is required through the design of LED packages to optimize heat resistance. This study developed an improved LED fish-attracting lamp with excellent heat performance, which was verified using a numerical model. Heat-resistance design factors such as the heat-radiation fin shape, PCB type, and LED chip count were investigated and optimized. Comparison with a commercial 180-W LED fishing lamp showed that the increase in initial temperature was 40% higher than that of the surrounding LED chip because of design errors in contact thermal resistance. The 250-W LED lamp developed in this study has a characteristic with thermal rising in linearly stable according to the heat source. In addition, luminance efficiency was improved by 20-65% by using flow-visualization simulation. A decrease of 45% in total power consumption with a fuel-cost reduction of over 55% can be expected when using these optimized heat release design factors.

This study analyzed the flow inside floating seedling equipment for Scapharca subcrenata. Due to the aging society of fishing villages, it is impossible to continuously input the labor force. Therefore, it is necessary to improve efficiency. Scapharca subcrenata has high per capita consumption. It serves as an important aquatic food resource. Scapharca subcrenata culture tends to be highly dependent on the natural environment. Production of Scapharca subcrenata is difficult to predict with low stability. In the past, manpower directly installed bamboo nets in mudflats. The seedling equipment devised in this study is a floating type and can be freely moved on the sea according to the prediction of Scapharca subcrenata generation. The flow around the floating seedling equipment was analyzed by numerical analysis. The physical phenomena of the flow around the net inside the floating seedling equipment were visualized. As a result, the space between the floating seedling equipment and the bottom net and the space between the net groups showed a lower flow rate than the inlet flow rate. It is expected that the low flow rate of the floating seedling equipment will have a positive effect on the attachment of Scapharca subcrenata.
