Natural Orifice Specimen Extraction (NOSE) with Single- Stapling Anastomosis for Left Colon Cancer
Ming-Yin Shen,William Tzu-Liang Chen 대한내시경복강경외과학회 2020 Journal of Minimally Invasive Surgery Vol.23 No.4
One of the major criticisms of laparoscopic colectomy is the requirement of an additional mini laparotomy to remove the resected specimen. This may be associated with postoperative pain and wound complications. Therefore, the use of a natural orifice as a delivery route for the specimen extraction without a laparotomy incision can subsequently reduce the risk of wound complications. In this video, we demonstrate the natural orifice specimen extraction procedure with a side-to-end single-stapling colorectal anastomosis.

Ion channels in carcinoma and their roles in cell proliferation are drawing attention. Intracellular $Ca^{2+}$ ($[Ca^{2+}]_i$)-dependent signaling affects the fate of cancer cells. Here we investigate the role of $Ca^{2+}$-activated $K^+$ channel (SK4) in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma cells (HNSCCs) of dif-ferent cell lines; SNU-1076, OSC-19 and HN5. Treatment with $1{\mu}M$ ionomycin induced cell death in all the three cell lines. Whole-cell patch clamp study suggested common expressions of $Ca^{2+}$-activated $Cl^-$ channels (Ano-1) and $Ca^{2+}$-activated nonselective cation channels (CAN). 1-EBIO, an activator of SK4, induced outward $K^+$ current (ISK4) in SNU-1076 and OSC-19. In HN5, ISK4 was not observed or negligible. The 1-EBIO-induced current was abolished by TRAM-34, a selective SK4 blocker. Interestingly, the ionomycin-induced cell death was effectively prevented by 1-EBIO in SNU-1076 and OSC-19, and the rescue effect was annihilated by combined TRAM-34. Con-sistent with the lower level of ISK4, the rescue by 1-EBIO was least effective in HN5. The results newly demonstrate the role of SK4 in the fate of HNSCCs under the $Ca^{2+}$ overloaded condition. Pharmacological modulation of SK4 might provide an intriguing novel tool for the anti-cancer strategy in HNSCC.

Broadband type 0 (ee-e) and type I (oo-e) quasi-phase-matching (QPM) second-harmonic generations (SHGs) are investigated in 0.5 mol% MgO-doped periodically poled stoichiometric LiTaO3 (0.5 mol% MgO:PPSLT). The group-velocity matching (GVM) fundamental wavelength and corresponding QPM crystal grating period are calculated for temperatures from 20 to 200 C. The SHG bandwidths are obtained at different temperatures. The tuning ranges of GVM fundamental wavelength for type 0 and I QPM are 2.575 − 2.590 μm and 2.497 − 2.712 μm for temperature from 20 to 200 C, respectively. The SHG bandwidths are all around 90 nm at 25 (room temperature), 100 and 200 C at a crystal length of 10 mm for type 0 and I QPM. The influence of temperature on the GVM fundamental wavelength and the SHG bandwidth is larger for type I QPM than that for type 0 QPM.

Aiming at the problem of traditional nondestructive testing steel pipe defect, Ultrasonic testing system based on Virtual Instrument was designed. The hardware platform is the signal source which is based on micro-controller, and the HS4 data acquisition card by USB bus. The software platform adopts the LabVIEW to program by using the multithread to acquire all kinds of signal by real-time. The nondestructive feature was found by using the filter, STFT analysis and joint time domain analysis. The designed system has been used to the pipe defect inspection of some company, which is stable and can achieve an anticipant effect.
High-Speed PIV Evaluation of Fuel Sprays under Superheated Conditions
( Ming Zhang ),( Min Xu ),( Yu Yin Zhang ),( Gao Ming Zhang ) 한국액체미립화학회 2010 한국액체미립화학회 학술강연회 논문집 Vol.2010 No.-
Spray structure, distribution, and atomization process of the superheated sprays are dramatically influenced by the degree of the fuel superheating. The fuel spray flow field can provide detailed information about such influence due to the fuel superheating. It is anticipated that the fuel spray flow field depends on the superheat degree, which is carefully examined using high-speed PIV in this study. The fuel droplet velocities are measured within the lower number density regions of the spray generated from a multi-hole injector. The spray structure is characterized by spray penetration, maximum spray width and spray angle derived from the spray laser-sheet images. These characteristics are correlated with the spray velocity vector field to analyze the driving force of the spray transformation. The results illustrate that, as the superheat degree increases, the spray velocities in both radial and axial directions vary dramatically accompanied by the unexpected transformations of the spray structure, such as transforming from separate plumes to a collapsed form. The superheat degree is the predominant factor influencing break-up, atomization, and structure of the superheated sprays.

Objective: The aim of this analysis was to examine the management of cervix cancer inelderly patients referred for radiotherapy and the results of treatment in terms of overallsurvival (OS), relapse-free survival (RFS), and treatment-related toxicities. Methods: Patients were eligible if they were aged ≥75 years, newly diagnosed with cervixcancer and referred for radiotherapy as part of their treatment. Patient details were retrievedfrom the gynaecology service database where clinical, histopathological treatment andfollow-up data were prospectively collected. Results: From 1998 to 2010, 126 patients aged ≥75 years, met selection criteria. Medianage was 81.5 years. Eighty-one patients had definitive radiotherapy, 10 received adjuvantradiotherapy and 35 had palliative radiotherapy. Seventy-one percent of patients had theInternational Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage 1b–2b disease. Median followupwas 37 months. OS and RFS at 3 years among those treated with curative intent were66.6% and 75.9% respectively with majority of patients dying without any evidence of cervixcancer. Grade 2 or more late toxicities were: bladder 5%, bowel 11%, and vagina 27%. EasternCooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) status was a significant predictor of OS and RFS witheach unit increment in ECOG score increased the risk of death by 1.69 times (p<0.001). Conclusion: Following appropriate patient selection, elderly patients treated curativelywith radiotherapy for cervix cancer have good disease control. Palliative hypofractionatedregimens are well tolerated in patients unsuitable for radical treatment.

Healthy assessment weights of using of modern electronic equipment is too subjective problem, it is proposed in this paper that is based on fuzzy analytic hierarchy process and the method based on the theory of the D-S evidence. In solid state transmitter, for example, by analysis of working principle, from the perspective of healthy status evaluation, it will be associated with healthy status indicators stratified processing. Then according to the hierarchy correlation index from the bottom of each layer in systems integration, the paper consider the complexity of system structure and index measurability, and use the analytic hierarchy process and the D-S evidence fusion solid state transmitter overall healthy assessment results.
OsCML4 improves drought tolerance through scavenging of reactive oxygen species in rice
Xu Ming Yin,Li Fanng Huang,Xin Zhang,Man Ling Wang,Guo Yun Xu,Xin Jie Xia 한국식물학회 2015 Journal of Plant Biology Vol.58 No.1
Calmodulin-like (CML) genes function in regulating plant responses to different abiotic stresses, such as high salt and drought. Using japonica type rice seedlings (‘Nipponbare’), we induced the expression of OsCML4 (Accession No. NM_001057768), which encodes a rice CML protein. Under drought conditions, transgenic plants over-expressing that gene exhibited obviously improved growth performance and higher survival rates than the wild type (WT). Activity by reactive oxygen species (ROS)- scavenging enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT), as well as proline concentrations, were significantly increased in transgenic plants. Expression by ROS scavenging-related genes APXI and Cat-B and the stress-related gene OsP5CS1 was also enhanced in the transgenics under drought conditions. However, the sensitivity to abscisic acid (ABA) was similar between over-expressing and WT plants. These results suggest that OsCML4 confers drought tolerance partially through ROS-scavenging and also by inducing other stress-related genes in an ABAindependent manner.
