<P>Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) have the potential to self-replicate, proliferate and differentiate into chondrocytes, adipocytes, osteocytes and myocytes. Recent studies indicate that vitamin K2 plays a role in bone metabolism. But the mechanism is still unclear. We evaluated effect of vitamin K2 on osteogenesis and adipogenesis of MSCs from umbilical cord blood(UCB). By exposing MSCs to osteogenic and adipogenic medium with and without vitamin K2, the effects of vitamin K2 were analyzed. The results showed that vitamin K2 inhibits adipogenesis while at the same time it stimulates osteoblastic differentiation. These data are expected to provide novel information needed for successful therapeutic development for various types of osteoporosis and similar diseases related to bone formation.</P>

Porokeratosis are characterized by distinct clinical findings of a keratotic ridge that corresponds to the cornoid lamella on histology and has well defined potential for malignancy. We report a case of basal cell carcinoma(BCC) arising in linear porokeratosis in a 77-year-old man.
Optimal Software Release Policies with Imperfect Debugging

This paper considers a software release policies for a software cost model with imperfect debugging by assuming that new faults are sometimes introduced when the faults originally latent in a software system are corrected and removed during the testing phase and operating phase. A software reliability model based on the NHPP is used. The optimal release polices to minimize the expected total software cost are discussed. Finally, numerical examples are shown to illustrate the results of the optimal polices.

<P>Microspheres of poly(vinyl acetate)/poly(vinyl alcohol)/disperse dye composite were prepared through suspension polymerization followed by the heterogeneous saponification. The effects of disperse dye on the rate of polymerization and saponification of poly(vinyl acetate) were studied. It was found that the rate of polymerization of poly(vinyl acetate) decreased when the concentration of the disperse dye increased. Also, the rates of poly(vinyl acetate) saponification decreased dramatically by the addition of disperse dye. The presence of disperse dye has almost no effect on the microsphere morphology.</P>

Low-level laser therapy including laser acupuncture has been widely used for non-specific chronic low back pain in primary Korean medical clinics. However, there is no critically appraised data regarding which treatment conditions are most effective. A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to determine effective treatment conditions using 12 databases (PubMed, Ovid, CENTRAL, KoreaMed, KMBASE, KISS, NDSL, KISTI, OASIS, CNKI, CiNII, and J-STAGE). There were 1,019 studies retrieved and 13 studies included in this review. It was determined that when the power output was ≥ 50 mW, the beam size was increased to ≥ cm<sup>2</sup>, the energy dose was increased to ≥ 4 J per point, the treatment interval was increased to ≥ 3 times a week, and the number of treatment sessions was increased to ≥ 10 treatments, these conditions appeared to increased treatment effectiveness.
Central Pressor Mechanisms of Bradykinin in 2-Kidney, 1 Clip Goldblatt Hypertensive Rats

Central cardiovascular effects of bradykinin were examined in anesthetized normotensive (NTR) and 2-kidney, 1 clip Goldblatt hypertensive rats (GHR). Bradykinin ($0.5{\sim}10nmol$) was administered into the right lateral cerebral ventricle, while blood pressure and heart rate (HR) were continuously monitored. In both NTR and GHR, intracerebroventricular bradykinin produced a dose dependent increase in mean arterial pressure (MAP) without significant changes in HR. GHR were more sensitive in the pressor response than NTR. The pressor response to bradykinin was attenuated by treatment with hexamethonium (2.5mg/kg/min, IV) or phentolamine (2mg/kg, IV) in both NTR and GHR. Reserpine treatment (2mg/kg/day, intramuscularly,2 days) did not affect the central pressor effect of bradykinin in NTR but it attenuated the pressor effect in GHR. Pretreatment with indomethacin (10mg/kg, intraperitoneally) or saralasin ($20{\mu}g$/kg/min, IV) was without effects on the pressor response to bradykinin. These results indicate that the central pressor effect of bradykinin is, at least in part, due to excitation of the autonomic nervous activity. Mechanisms other than the enhanced sympathetic nervous activity ran. not be ruled out, However. It is also suggested that the sensitivity to bradykinin is increased in the GHR.
