Design optimization of a fixed wing aircraft
Yayli, Ugur C.,Kimet, Cihan,Duru, Anday,Cetir, Ozgur,Torun, Ugur,Aydogan, Ahmet C.,Padmanaban, Sanjeevikumar,Ertas, Ahmet H. Techno-Press 2017 Advances in aircraft and spacecraft science Vol.4 No.1
Small aircrafts, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), are used especially for military purposes. Because landing fields are limited in rural and hilly places, take-off or landing distances are very important. In order to achieve a short landing or take-off distance many parameters have to be considered, for instance the design of aircrafts. Hence this paper represents a better design to enlarge the use of fixed wing aircrafts. The document is based on a live and simulated experiments. The various components of designed aircraft are enhanced to create short take-off distance, greater lift and airflow without the need for proper runway area. Therefore, created aerodynamics of the remotely piloted aircraft made it possible to use fixed wing aircrafts in rural areas.
Pre-service EFL Teachers in Practice: Integrating Films into Language Teaching
Yayli Demet 영상영어교육학회 2009 영상영어교육 (STEM journal) Vol.10 No.1
In this study, the main purpose was to investigate the pre-service teachers’ initial perspectives on using feature films in language teaching and how these perspectives evolved after their microteaching experience by using feature films. The participants used some film segments accompanied by some speaking, reading and writing activities to teach some lexical or cultural elements. To collect qualitative data, the participants were asked to respond to some questionnaire items at the beginning and at the end of the semester when their microteaching sessions were over. Besides the questionnaire, five participants took part in semi-structured in depth interviews with the researcher before and after the microteaching sessions. While interpreting the data compiled, the most frequently cited meanings served to form some basic coding themes. The differences found between the initial and final utterances were noteworthy. After their microteaching experience, the participants’ utterances reflected their increasing awareness toward specific languages used in specific situations. Another difference was that the pre-service teachers in this study went beyond mainstream explanations that they held before experiencing teaching with films. Therefore, it is essential to allow pre-service teachers to take all the responsibilities for practicing real teaching with authentic materials supported in theory.

In this study, effect of transglutaminase (TGase) addition on physical, water barrier, optical and mechanical properties of mechanically deboned chicken meat protein (MDCM-P) films was investigated. When TGase was added to the films, the thickness increased, but the solubility decreased. Films treated with TGase exhibited higher water vapor permeability than control film (p<0.05). When TGase concentration increased, the L* values of films decreased, but a* and b* values increased. All films showed very good barrier properties against UV light. The highest tensile strength was obtained in MDCM-P films containing 3% TGase (p<0.05). The elongation at break values increased with the TGase concentration increasing from 1 to 3%, but decreased at higher enzyme concentration (p<0.05). The addition of TGase altered molecular organization and intermolecular interaction in the film matrix. TGase treated films showed smoother and ordered surface structure and homogeneous and compact microstructure. The results indicated that TGase use can be an effective approach in improving the solubility and mechanical properties of MDCM-P films.
SPLIT QUATERNIONS AND ROTATIONS IN SEMI EUCLIDEAN SPACE E42

We review the algebraic structure of $\mathbb{H}{\sharp}$ and show that $\mathbb{H}{\sharp}$ has a scalar product that allows as to identify it with semi Euclidean ${\mathbb{E}}^4_2$. We show that a pair q and p of unit split quaternions in $\mathbb{H}{\sharp}$ determines a rotation $R_{qp}:\mathbb{H}{\sharp}{\rightarrow}\mathbb{H}{\sharp}$. Moreover, we prove that $R_{qp}$ is a product of rotations in a pair of orthogonal planes in ${\mathbb{E}}^4_2$. To do that we call upon one tool from the theory of second ordinary differential equations.
BOOST INVARIANT SURFACES WITH POINTWISE 1-TYPE GAUSS MAP IN MINKOWSKI 4-SPACE E4 1
Ferdag Kahraman Aksoyak,Yusuf Yayli 대한수학회 2014 대한수학회보 Vol.51 No.6
In this paper, we study spacelike rotational surfaces which are called boost invariant surfaces in Minkowski 4-space E41 . We give necessary and sufficient condition for flat spacelike rotational surface to have pointwise 1-type Gauss map. Also, we obtain a characterization for boost invariant marginally trapped surface with pointwise 1-type Gauss map.

In the current work, static and free torsional vibration of functionally graded (FG) nanorods are investigated using Fourier sine series. The boundary conditions are described by the two elastic torsional springs at the ends. The distribution of functionally graded material is considered using a power-law rule. The systems of equations of the mechanical response of nanorods subjected to deformable boundary conditions are achieved by using the modified couple stress theory (MCST) and taking the effects of torsional springs into account. The idea of the study is to construct an eigen value problem involving the torsional spring parameters with small scale parameter and functionally graded index. This article investigates the size dependent free torsional vibration based on the MCST of functionally graded nano/micro rods with deformable boundary conditions using a Fourier sine series solution for the first time. The eigen value problem is constructed using the Stokes' transform to deformable boundary conditions and also the convergence and accuracy of the present methodology are discussed in various numerical examples. The small size coefficient influence on the free torsional vibration characteristics is studied from the point of different parameters for both deformable and rigid boundary conditions. It shows that the torsional vibrational response of functionally graded nanorods are effected by geometry, small size effects, boundary conditions and material composition. Furthermore, for all deformable boundary conditions in the event of nano-sized FG nanorods, the incrementing of the small size parameters leads to increas the torsional frequencies.

In this paper we study general rotational surfaces in the 4- dimensional Euclidean space E4 and give a characterization of fiat general rotational surface with pointwise 1-type Gauss map. Also, we show that a flat general rotational surface with pointwise 1-type Gauss map is a Lie group if and only if it is a Clifford torus.
QUATERNIONS AND HOMOTHETIC MOTIONS IN EUCLIDEAN AND LORENTZIAN SPACES
( Gülsüm Yüca ),( Yusuf Yayli ) 호남수학회 2023 호남수학학술지 Vol.45 No.2
In the present paper, we investigate homothetic motions determined by quaternions, which is a general form of our previous paper [20]. We introduce a transition between homothetic motions in 3D and 4D Euclidean and Lorentzian spaces. In other words, we give a new method that works as a handy tool for obtaining Lorentzian homothetic motions from Euclidean homothetic motions. Moreover, some remarkable properties of homothetic motions, which are given in former studies on this subject, are also examined by dual transformations. Then, we present applications and visualize them with 3D-plots. Finally, we investigate homothetic motions in dual spaces because of the importance in many fields related to kinematics.
