Predictions of Bending Modal Properties of the 3D Braided Composites with the Homogeneous Theoretical Model

        Tao Liu,Jingjing Dong,Chaonan Ye,Xianyan Wu,Wei Fan,Linlin Lu,Jingyu Kang,Xingzhong Gao,Baozhong Sun,Honglei Yi 한국섬유공학회 2022 Fibers and polymers Vol.23 No.12

In this work, the bending modal properties of three-dimensional (3D) braided composites were investigated withthe experimental and numerical methods. Three braided angles were selected to study the braided angle effect on the modalbehavior of 3D braided composites. According to the experimental parameters, a homogeneous model containing the interior, surface and corner representative unit cells of the braided composites were proposed to compute the elastic constants of eachcomposite. Besides, the fiber breakage defects were introduced to the homogeneous model to improve the accuracy ofpredicting the modal behavior of the braided composite. The results indicate that the increase of the braided angle and thefiber breakage defects could apparently reduce the natural frequency of the braided composite. The modal propertiessimulated by the homogeneous models containing some fiber breakage defects could fit well with the correspondingexperimental results. The proposed method to create the homogenous model can be used to predict the modal behavior of the3D braided composites.

In vitro Inhibition of Fungal Root-Rot Pathogens of Panax notoginseng by Rhizobacteria

Guo, Rongjun,Liu, Xingzhong,Li, Shidong,Miao, Zuoqing The Korean Society of Plant Pathology 2009 Plant Pathology Journal Vol.25 No.1

The rhizobacteria of Panax notoginseng were isolated from six sites in Yanshan, Maguan and Wenshan Counties, Yunnan Province of China, and their antagonistic activity against P. notoginseng root-rot fungal pathogens was determined. Of the 574 rhizobacteria isolated, 5.8% isolates were antagonistic in vitro to at least one of the five pathogens, Cylindrocarpon didynum, Fusarium solani, Phytophthora cactorum, Phoma herbarum, and Rhizoctonia solani. The number of rhizo bacteria and the number that inhibited fungi differed depending on sampling sites and isolation methods. Rhizobacteria isolated from the site in Yanshan and Maguan showed more antagonistic effect than them in Wenshan. Heat treatment of rhizosphere soil at $80^{\circ}C$ for 20 min scaled the antagonists up to 14.0%. Antagonistic bacteria in the roots proportioned 3.9% of the total isolates. The most antagonistic isolates 79-9 and 81-4 are Bacillus subtilis based on their 168 rDNA sequence and biochemical and physiological characteristics. Identification and evaluation of antagonistic bacteria against P. notoginseng root-rot pathogens in the main planting areas improved our understanding of their distribution in rhizosphere soil. Furthermore these results indicated that the interactions between biocontrol agent and soil microbes should be seriously considered for the successful survival and biocontrol efficacy of the agents in soil.

Sporulation of Several Biocontrol Fungi as Affected by Carbon and Nitrogen Sources in a Two-Stage Cultivation System

Li Gao,Xingzhong Liu 한국미생물학회 2010 The journal of microbiology Vol.48 No.6

The development of fungal biopesticides requires the efficient production of large numbers spores or other propagules. The current study used published information concerning carbon concentrations and C:N ratios to evaluate the effects of carbon and nitrogen sources on sporulation of Paecilomyces lilacinus (IPC-P and M-14) and Metarhizium anisopliae (SQZ-1-21 and RS-4-1) in a two-stage cultivation system. For P. lilacinus IPCP,the optimal sporulation medium contained urea as the nitrogen source, dextrin as the carbon source at 1g/L, a C:N ratio of 5:1, with ZnSO4·7H2O at 10 mg/L and CaCl2 at 3 g/L. The optimal sporulation medium for P. lilacinus M-14 contained soy peptone as the nitrogen source and maltose as the carbon source at 2 g/L, a C:N ratio of 10:1, with ZnSO4·7H2O at 250 mg/L, CuSO4·5H2O at 10 mg/L, H3BO4 at 5 mg/L, and Na2MoO4·2H2O at 5 mg/L. The optimum sporulation medium for M. anisopliae SQZ-1-21 contained urea as the nitrogen source, sucrose as the carbon source at 16 g/ L, a C:N ratio of 80:1, with ZnSO4·7H2O at 50 mg/L,CuSO4·5H2O at 50 mg/L, H3BO4 at 5 mg/L, and MnSO4·H2O at 10 mg/L. The optimum sporulation medium for M. anisopliae RS-4-1 contained soy peptone as the nitrogen source, sucrose as the carbon source at 4 g/L,a C:N ratio of 5:1, with ZnSO4·7H2O at 50 mg/L and H3BO4 at 50 mg/L. All sporulation media contained 17g/L agar. While these results were empirically derived, they provide a first step toward low-cost mass production of these biocontrol agents.

The most antagonistic isolates 79-9 and 81-4 are Bacillus subtilis based on their 16S rDNA sequence and biochemical and physiological characteristics.
