        A Bidirectional Single-Stage DC/AC Converter for Grid Connected Energy Storage Systems

        In this paper, a unified control strategy using the current space vector modulation (CSVM) technique is proposed and applied to a bidirectional three-phase DC/AC converter. The operation of the converter changes with the direction of the power flow. In the charging mode, it works as a buck type rectifier; and during the discharging mode, it operates as a boost type inverter, which makes it suitable as an interface between high voltage AC grids and low voltage energy storage devices. This topology has the following advantages: high conversion efficiency, high power factor at the grid side, tight control of the charging current and fast transition between the charging and discharging modes. The operating principle of the mode analysis, the gate signal generation, the general control strategy and the transition from a constant current (CC) to a constant voltage (CV) in the charging mode are discussed. The proposed control strategy has been validated by simulations and experimental results obtained with a 1kW laboratory prototype using supercapacitors as an energy storage device.

        Input Voltage Sharing Control for Input-Series-Output-Parallel DC-DC Converters without Input Voltage Sensors

        Input-series-output-parallel (ISOP) modular converters consisting of multiple modular DC/DC converters can enable low voltage rating switches for use in high voltage input applications. In this paper, an input voltage sharing control strategy for input-series-output-parallel (ISOP) full-bridge (FB) DC/DC converters is proposed. By sensing the difference in the input current of two modules, the system can achieve input voltage sharing for DC-DC modules. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is verified by simulation and experimental results obtained with a 200w-50kHz prototype.

        Design of Active Disturbance Rejection Control for Inductive Power Transfer Systems

        The control design of inductive power transfer (IPT) systems has attracted a lot of attention in the field of wireless power transmission. Due to the high-order resonant networks and multiple loads in IPT systems, a simplified model of an IPT system is preferred for analysis and control design, and a controller with strong robustness is required. Hence, an active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) for IPT systems is proposed in this paper. To realize the employment of ADRC, firstly a small-signal model of an LC series-compensative IPT system is derived based on generalized state-space averaging (GSSA), then the ADRC is implemented in the designed IPT system. The ADRC not only provides superior robustness to unknown internal and external disturbances, but also requires few knowledge of the IPT system. Due to the convenient realization of ADRC, the designed IPT system retains its simple structure without any additional circuits. Finally, a frequency domain analysis and experimental results have validated the effectiveness of the employed ADRC, especially its robustness in the presence of frequency drifts and other common disturbances.

        DSP Based Series-Parallel Connected Two Full-Bridge DC-DC Converter with Interleaving Output Current Sharing

        Input-series-output-parallel (ISOP) connected DC-DC converters enable low voltage rating switches to be used in high voltage input applications. In this paper, a DSP is adopted to generate digital phase-shifted PWM signals and to fulfill the closed-loop control function for ISOP connected two full-bridge DC-DC converters. Moreover, a stable output current sharing control strategy is proposed for the system, with which equal sharing of the input voltage and the load current can be achieved without any input voltage control loops. Based on small signal analysis with the state space average method, a loop gain design with the proposed scheme is made. Compared with the conventional IVS scheme, the proposed strategy leads to simplification of the output voltage regulator design and better static and dynamic responses. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is verified by the simulation and experimental results of an ISOP system made up of two full-bridge DC-DC converters.

        Wireless Paralleled Control Strategy of Three-phase Inverter Modules for Islanding DistributedGeneration Systems

        This paper presents a control strategy for distributed systems, which can be used in islanded microgrids. The control strategy is based on the droop method, which uses locally measured feedback to achieve load current sharing. Instead of the traditional droop method, an improved one is implemented. A virtual inductor in the synchronous frame for three-phase inverters is proposed to deal with the coupling of the frequency and the amplitude related to the active and reactive power. Compared with the traditional virtual inductor, the proposed virtual inductor is not affected by high frequency noises because it avoids differential calculations. A model is given for the distributed generation system, which is beneficial for the design of the droop coefficients and the value of the virtual inductor. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is verified by simulation and experiment results.

        Input-series-output-parallel (ISOP) converters consisting of multiple modular DC/DC converters can enable low voltage rating switches to be used under high voltage input applications. This paper presents a digital control strategy, which can achieve equal sharing of input voltage for a modular ISOP system consisting of two-transistor forward DC/DC converters by forcing the input voltages of neighboring modules to be equal. The proposed scheme is analyzed using small signals analysis based on the state space average method. The performance of the proposed control strategy is verified with an experimental prototype of an ISOP converter made up of three two-switch forward converters.
