본 논문은 AR 환경에서 이용 가능한 실내 공간내에서 공간과 평면을 분리하여 인식하는 평면 추정방법을 제안한다. 깊이 영상 카메라로부터 지역 법선벡터를 계산한 후 방위, 고도, 거리 정보를 이용하여 비슷한 법선 벡터끼리 군집화한 후 평면을 추정한다. 그 후 평면 영역들로부터 객체 영역을 분리한다. 이 정보를 이용하여 3 차원 공간에서 공간 영역과 물체영역을 분리하여 증강 현실 분야에서 독립적인 응용이 가능하다.
Socially aware tv program recommender for multiple viewers

<P>With the increasing amount of research on smart TVs, users are interacting with them in an evermore convenient way. However, current program recommendations mainly focus on using individual profiles and require users' active participation when multiple viewers coexist. In this paper, we propose a socially aware program recommender for multiple viewers of a digital TV that rates and selects TV programs based on individual and group preferences. For this task, the proposed recommender generates recommendations for users by merging user profiles and combining their common interests. In this way, programs that all users prefer are automatically selected and ambiguous or conflicting programs are mediated based on user feedback. Through subsequent experiments with a smart TV equipped with the program recommender, we found that the performance of group recommendations improved when individual profiles and the group's common interests were used, and that users preferred different strategies when they were with other people.</P>
Silhouette Segmentation in Multiple Views

<P>In this paper, we present a method for extracting consistent foreground regions when multiple views of a scene are available. We propose a framework that automatically identifies such regions in images under the assumption that, in each image, background and foreground regions present different color properties. To achieve this task, monocular color information is not sufficient and we exploit the spatial consistency constraint that several image projections of the same space region must satisfy. Combining the monocular color consistency constraint with multiview spatial constraints allows us to automatically and simultaneously segment the foreground and background regions in multiview images. In contrast to standard background subtraction methods, the proposed approach does not require a priori knowledge of the background nor user interaction. Experimental results under realistic scenarios demonstrate the effectiveness of the method for multiple camera set ups.</P>
Interactive edutainment system with enhanced personalized user interface framework

<P>In this paper, we present the Responsive Multimedia System, an interactive edutainment system. The system consists of an AR-based tabletop tangible user interface (ARTable) and a virtual environment manager (VEManager) integrated by enhanced Personalized User Interface Framework. In this system, a user interface and virtual environments are integrated seamlessly by sharing user-centric context. To share user-centric context efficiently, our system optimizes the number of network connection between objects in real and virtual environments. The synchronization problem between ARTable and a virtual environment is solved by calculating coordinates with additional information such as collision with terrain and physics law in a virtual environment as well as user-centric context. Moreover, it reorganizes responses of an object according to a user-centric context and condition-action rules. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system we developed an application on the subject 'Dream of Mee-luck'. According to the experimental results, we found that the proposed system could be a promising technology that enables users to experience an interactive story. In the future, the proposed system can play an important role in developing interactive applications for edutainment.</P>

유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경에서는 사용자의 직접적인 의사 표현 뿐만이 아니라 사용자 및 사용자 주변에 대한 정보를 파악하여 서비스를 실행시킬 수 있는 컨텍스트 기반 응용 서비스의 중요성이 증가할 것이다. 본 논문은 응용 서비스를 개발하는데 필수적인 컨텍스트 기반 응용 서비스 모형을 제안한다. 제안된 모형에서는 5W1H 형태의 컨텍스트를 사용하여, 센서와 응용 서비스 사이의 독립성을 최대한 보장한다. 또한, 응용 서비스가 5W1H의 컨텍스트를 변형하여 응용 서비스가 실제 동작할 때 필요한 컨텍스트를 직접 생성함으로써 정확도 높은 컨텍스트의 사용을 보장한다. 제안된 모형의 유용성을 검증하기 위해 본 연구실에서 구축하고 있는 유비홈 (ubiHome)(가정 중심의 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경을 실험하기 위한 테스트 베드)의 센서 및 응용 서비스 개발에 제안된 모형을 적용하였다. 제안된 모형은 가까운 미래의 가정, 학교, 사무실 등의 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경이 갖춰진 일상 생활의 사용자에게 컨텍스트 기반의 서비스를 구축하기 위한 방법으로 활용될 수 있다. Context-aware application plays an important role in ubiquitous computing (ubiComp) environment by providing user with anytime, anywhere services even without any explicitly triggered command. In this paper we propose a unified context-aware application model which is an essential part to develop various applications in ubiquitous computing environment. The proposed model affirms the independence between sensor and application by using unified context in the form of 5W1H. It also ensures that application exploits relatively accurate context to trigger personalized services. To show usefulness of the proposed model, we apply it to the sensors and applications in the ubiHome, a test bed for ubiComp-enabled home applications. According to the experimental results, without loss of generality, we believe it can be extended to various context-aware applications in daily life.
