        The Impact of Job Placement on Organizational Commitment: A Case Study of Power Plant Employees in Sumatra, Indonesia

        This study investigates the effect of job satisfaction as a mediator of job placement on employees’ organizational commitment in the Sumatra-Indonesia energy sector. Permanent personnel of a PGU unit power plant in Sumatra, Indonesia, made up the population and sample. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling of 129 employees. The research model and hypotheses were tested using multiple regression analysis. This study indicate that job placement has a significant positive effect on job satisfaction. Simultaneously, job placement does not have a significant positive effect on organizational commitment. Secondly, job satisfaction has a significant positive effect on organizational commitment and finally, job satisfaction mediates the relationship between job placement and organizational commitment. The results of this study indicate that job placement has a significant positive effect on job satisfaction. Therefore, the right job placement will lead to employee job satisfaction. Another finding is that job placement has a positive and insignificant effect on organizational commitment. Furthermore, job satisfaction has a significant positive effect on organizational commitment. The results of this study indicate that the higher the job satisfaction of the PGU unit employees in the Sumatra area, the higher the level of employee organizational commitment will be.

        Anti-inflammatory Effect of Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) Peel Extract and its Compounds in LPS-induced RAW264.7 Cells

        Inflammation plays an important role in host defense against external stimuli such as infection by pathogen, endotoxin or chemical exposure by the production of the inflammatory mediators that produced by macrophage. Anti-inflammatory factor is important to treat the dangers of chronic inflammation associated with chronic disease. This research aims to analyze the anti-inflammatory effects of Garcinia mangostana L. peel extract (GMPE), a-mangostin, and g-mangostin in LPS-induced murine macrophage cell line (RAW 264.7) by inhibiting the production of inflammatory mediators. The cytotoxic assay of G. mangostana L. extract, a-mangostin, and g-mangostin were performed by MTS (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-5-(3-carboxymethoxyphenyl)-2-(4-sulfophenyl)-2H-tetrazolium) to determine the safe and non-toxic concentration in RAW 264.7 for the further assay. The concentration of inflammatory mediators (COX-2, IL-6, and IL-1b) were measured by the ELISA-based assay and NO by the nitrate/nitrite colorimetric assay in treated LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells. The inhibitory activity was determined by the reducing concentration of inflammatory mediators in treated LPS-induced RAW 264.7 over the untreated cells. This research revealed that GMPE, a-mangostin, and g-mangostin possess the anti-inflammatory effect by reducing COX-2, IL-6, IL-1b, and NO production in LPS-induces RAW 264.7 cells.

        Tea Flavonoids Induced Differentiation of Peripheral Blood-derived Mononuclear Cells into Peripheral Blood-derived Endothelial Progenitor Cells and Suppressed Intracellular Reactive Oxygen Species Level of Peripheral Blood-derived Endothelial Progenitor

        Endothelial dysfunction in atherosclerosis is associated with increasing oxidative stress that could be reversed by antioxidant. Therefore epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), epicatechin gallate (ECG), epigallocatechin (EGC) and catechin (C) of tea flavonoids were investigated for their roles in regenerating endothelial cell. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PB-MNCs) were isolated, plated and cultured in medium with/without treatment of EGCG, ECG, EGC and C. Results showed that among all EGCG, ECG, EGC and C concentrations tested, 12.5 ?mol/L was not cytotoxic for peripheral blood-derived endothelial progenitor cells (PB-EPCs). Treatment of EGCG, ECG, EGC or C increased the percentages of CD34, CD133, VEGFR-2 expressions and suppressed hydrogen peroxide-induced percentages of reactive oxygen species (ROS) level in PB-EPCs. Taken together, our current results showed that EGCG, ECG, EGC or C of tea flavonoids could induce differentiation of PB-MNCs into PB-EPCs as well as protect PB-EPCs from oxidative damage by suppresing the intracellular ROS levels.

        Antioxidant and Antiaging Assays of Hibiscus sabdariffa Extract and Its Compounds

        Skin aging is a complex biological process due to intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Free radical oxidative is one of extrinsic factors that induce activation of collagenase, elastase and hyaluronidase. Natural product from plants has been used as antioxidant and antiaging. This study aimed to evaluate antioxidant and antiaging properties of Hibiscus sabdariffa extract (HSE) and its compounds including myricetin, ascorbic acid, and b carotene. The phytochemical of H. sabdariffa was determined using modified Farnsworth method and presence of phenols, flavonoids and tannins were in moderate content, whereas triterpenoids and alkaloids were in low content. Total phenolic content performed using Folin-Ciocalteu method, was 23.85 ?g GAE/mg. Quantitative analysis of myricetin, b-carotene, and ascorbic acid of HSE was performed with Ultra-High Performance Liquid Chromatography (UHPLC) that shows 78.23 ?g/mg myricetin, 0.034 ?g/mg b-carotene, whilst ascorbic acid was not detected. HSE has lower activity on DPPH (IC50 = 195.73 ?g/mL) compared to b-carotene, the lowest in ABTS assay (IC50 = 74.58 ?g/mL) and low activity in FRAP assay (46.24 ?M Fe(II)/?g) compared to myricetin, b-carotene. Antiaging was measured through inhibitory activity of collagenase, elastase, and hyaluronidase. HSE had weakest collagenase inhibitory activity (IC50 = 750.33 ?g/mL), elastase inhibitory activity (103.83 ?g/mL), hyaluronidase inhibitory activity (IC50 = 619.43 ?g/mL) compared to myricetin, b-carotene, and ascorbic acid. HSE contain higher myricetin compared to b-carotene. HSE has moderate antioxidants and lowest antiaging activities. Myricetin is the most active both antioxidant and antiaging activities.

      • Offline Shopping During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Between Need and Fear

        Purpose - The purposes of this research are: (1) Building and testing a research model that integrates Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) with fear, perceived risk, and health protocols; (2) Examining the impact of compliance with health protocols on consumer behavior when offline shopping. Research design, data, and methodology - The data collection uses the self-administered survey method, and the questionnaire is distributed online. A total of 504 Indonesian population aged 18 years old or more participate in this research. Data are analyzed using factor analysis, multiple regression, and multiple regression with interaction. Result - This study reveals several findings: (1) Attitude and subjective norm have a significant effect on offline shopping behavior; (2) fear has a direct and indirect effect on offline shopping behavior; (3) the effect of perceived risk on the intensity of offline shopping is determined by compliance with health protocols. Conclusion - This paper discusses the direct influence of attitudes and subjective norms on behavior. This research also integrates fear, perceived risk, and health protocol factors in TRA, which may not have been done much, especially in the COVID-19 pandemic context.

        Coprime Factor Reduction of Parameter Varying Controller

        This paper presents an approach to order reduction of linear parameter varying controller for poly topic model. Feasible solutions which satisfy relevant linear matrix inequalities for constructing full-order parameter varying controller evaluated at each poly topic vertices are first found. Next, sufficient conditions are derived for the existence of a right coprime factorization of parameter varying controller. Furthermore, a singular perturbation approximation for time invariant systems is generalized to reduce full-order parameter varying controller via parameter varying right coprime factorization. This generalization is based on solutions of the parameter varying Lyapunov inequalities. The closed loop performance caused by using the reduced order controller is developed. To examine the performance of the reduced-order parameter varying controller, the proposed method is applied to reduce vibration of flexible structures having the transverse-torsional coupled vibration modes.

        Purpose: The purpose of this research is to study the role of life satisfaction, quality consciousness, and religiosity, which are integrated with the TRA Model to explain the switching intention of Muslim consumers to use Halal Cosmetics and Personal Care (HCPC). The second purpose is to investigate the relationship between variables used in this study to provide recommendations to HCPC producers about Muslim consumer behavior in the market. Research design, data, and methodology: The target population in this study is Muslims who live in Greater Jakarta. Data collection is carried out by the self-administered survey method based on the Purposive sampling technique, and the questionnaire is distributed online. The statistical analysis to test the research hypotheses is the Partial Least Squares - Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM). Results: Life satisfaction, product quality consciousness, and religious commitment have a significant effect on attitude to switching but do not significantly influence the intention of switching to use HCPC. Conclusions: Life satisfaction, quality consciousness, and religiosity that represent individual factors indirectly affect the intention to switch to use HCPC. Thus, religious commitment influences attitude to switching both directly and indirectly.

        Integration of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Marketing Relationships, and Sharia Compliance in Indonesia's Islamic e-banking

        Purpose This research develops the expanded Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to investigate the relationship between perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use with satisfaction and loyalty by considering the role of sharia compliance, commitment, and trust. Research design, data and methodology: A data source is 300 respondents from a self-administered survey. The target population is Muslims who are customers of Islamic banks, with age at least 18 years, and used e-banking to make payment transactions. The analysis methods are MANOVA and Multiple Linear Regression. Results: The results suggest that intention to use and actual behavior variables are replaced with satisfaction and loyalty. Commitment is not recommended, while trust is an explanatory variable that can be used as an external variable. Conclusions: It is important to increase satisfaction and commitment also concentrate to various aspects of sharia compliance to increase customer’s loyalty to use e-banking. The fulfillment of sharia compliance by Islamic banks will increase the Islamic bank customers loyalty.
