Optimal modification of an activated sludge process (ASP) evaluated by multiple performance criteriawas studied. A benchmark process in BSM1 was taken as a target process. Four indexes of percentage of effluent violation(PEV), energy consumption (OCI), total volume of tanks (TV) and total suspended solid in tank5 (TSSa5), werecriteria and eleven process parameters were decision variables, making up the multiple criteria optimization model, which was solved by non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II) in MATLAB. Pareto solutions were obtained;one solution (opt1) was selected based on the authors’ decision for a further analysis. Results show that theprocess with opt1 strategy exhibits much better performance of PEV and OCI than with the default, being improvedby 74.17% and 9.97% specifically under dry influent and without control. These results indicated that the multiple criterionoptimization method is very useful for modification of an ASP.
A Novel Preserving Client Privacy and Designate Verifier Auditing Scheme for Cloud Storage
Jiang Xu,Wenliang Chen,Sai Ji,Yongjun Ren,Jin Wang 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Security and Its Applicat Vol.9 No.1
Cloud storage is now an important development trend in information technology. To ensure the integrity of data storage in cloud storing, researchers have present some proof of storage schemes. In some cases, the ability to check data possession is delegated by data owners. Hence, the delegable provable data possession and proxy provable data possession are proposed. However the schemes are not secure since the proxy or designated verifier stores some delegation information in cloud storage servers. In this paper, we propose PC-DV POS scheme, which can preserve clients’ privacy and designate a verifier by the client signed the data blocks. In particular, we utilize group signatures and key exchange to construct homomorphic authenticators, so that only the designated verifier is able to check the integrity of shared data for users without retrieving the entire data, and cannot reveal the identities of signers on all blocks in shared data.

The Tan-Lu fault zone (TLFZ) is one of the most important active faults in the eastern Chinese mainland, and the seismic activity of the Su-Lu segment is most prominent. The fault structures of the Su-Lu section are very complex and intersect with many other NW-striking and NE-striking fault zones, resulting in the extreme complexity of the crustal structure in this area. In this study, Bouguer gravity and aeromagnetic data are used to invert the crustal structures surrounding the Su-Lu segment and to construct a three-dimensional model. Our results indicate that the TLFZ presents obvious high anomalies in gravity and aeromagnetic fields, cuts through the Moho interface and acts as an upwelling passage for high-density materials from the uppermost mantle and asthenosphere. The gravity and aeromagnetic anomalies are greatly influenced by the crustal structures. Both the Moho and Curie interfaces are characterized by substantial undulations. The NW-striking and NE-striking faults intersect the TLFZ with different relations—for example, the Wuxi-Suqian fault and Cangshan-Nishan fault cut off the TLFZ with distinct gravity and aeromagnetic anomalies, and the Xintai-Mengyin fault and Mengshan piedmont fault cut off the western part of the TLFZ. In addition, most faults cut to the middle crust, and the lower crust is ductilely deformed because of magmatic underplating, reforming, remelting and thinning of the eastern North China block. Most earthquakes occur in the northern part of the Su-Lu segment, where magmatic activity is intense.
A Novel Cost-Effective Two-Level Inverter with Combined Use of Thyristors and IGBTs
Chen, Dezhi,Zhao, Wenliang,Kwon, Byung-il The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2018 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.13 No.1
In this paper, a novel topology of two-level voltage-type inverter is proposed. The proposed inverter has three bridge arms while each bridge is made up of two thyristors, one IGBT and four diodes. Thyristors complete the phase positioning of the inverter, IGBT completes the modulation of different modulation modes such as SPWM, SVPWM, and SHPWM, and the diodes complete the commutation of the bridge arms. Compared to the traditional voltage-type inverter with six IGBTs, the proposed voltage-type inverter using three IGBTs can achieve the same function with highly reduced cost. The principle of the proposed two-level inverter is explained in detail. The simulation and experiment results demonstrate the performance and effectiveness of the proposed inverter-type inverter.

This paper introduces the mathematical model of a double boost circuit for the condition that the short circuit to ground happens to one phase of inverters, taking into account the impact of leakage inductance of power transformers. The corresponding energy transmission modes are analyzed, mainly focusing on the reason that the rectifier diode reverses voltage and the DC bus voltage rises. Then a novel method for rectifier determination, considering the short circuit to ground in one phase of inverters, is proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by both simulation and experiment.

Novel [Ni(2,20-bipy)3]Cl2 activated sepiolite clay composites have been successfully synthesized by ahydrothermal reaction method. The activated clays are endowed with much higher photocatalyticabilities than the raw one. Degradation ratios of rhodamine B and methyl orange under UV light werefound up to 99.8% and 95.4% within 120 min. Beside efficient dye degradations, a high H2 evolution rate of12.5 umol/g/h was reached by using the [Ni(2,20-bipy)3]Cl2/sepiolite composite as the catalyst. Coatingthe as-synthesized material on surfaces leads to extraordinary superhydrophobic and superoleophilicproperties. The cheap materials can be widely used in photocatalytic water purification and/or oil-watermixture separations.
Modeling urban building energy use: A review of modeling approaches and procedures
Li, Wenliang,Zhou, Yuyu,Cetin, Kristen,Eom, Jiyong,Wang, Yu,Chen, Gang,Zhang, Xuesong Elsevier 2017 ENERGY Vol.141 No.-
<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>With rapid urbanization and economic development, the world has been experiencing an unprecedented increase in energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. While reducing energy consumption and GHG emissions is a common interest shared by major developed and developing countries, actions to enable these global reductions are generally implemented at the city scale. This is because baseline information from individual cities plays an important role in identifying economical options for improving building energy efficiency and reducing GHG emissions. Numerous approaches have been proposed for modeling urban building energy use in the past decades. This paper aims to provide an up-to-date review of the broad categories of energy models for urban buildings and describes the basic workflow of physics-based, bottom-up models and their applications in simulating urban-scale building energy use. Because there are significant differences across models with varied potential for application, strengths and weaknesses of the reviewed models are also presented. This is followed by a discussion of challenging issues associated with model preparation and calibration.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Advances in urban buildings energy models are reviewed. </LI> <LI> Strengths and weaknesses of urban building energy models are discussed. </LI> <LI> The workflow of physics-based bottom-up models are illuminated. </LI> <LI> Challenges and future research avenues in urban buildings energy use modeling are highlighted. </LI> </UL> </P>
