Ursolic acid is reported to have beneficial effects on the regulation of cardiovascular homeostasis. However, the effects of ursolic acid on cardiac hormone secretion are yet to be defined. The present study was designed to test the effects of ursolic acid on the secretory and contractile functions of the atria. Experiments were conducted in isolated perfused beating rabbit atria. We measured the changes in atrial dynamics, pulse pressure, stroke volume, cAMP efflux, as well as the secretion of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP). Ursolic acid increased ANP secretion and mechanical dynamics in a concentration-dependent manner. The inhibition of L-type Ca2+ channels with nifedipine attenuated the ursolic acid-induced increase in ANP secretion but not mechanical dynamics. The inhibition of K+ATP channels with glibenclamide attenuated the ursolic acid-induced increase in ANP secretion-but not atrial dynamics-in a concentration-dependent manner. The selective Na+-K+-ATPase inhibitor ouabain blocked the ursolic acid-induced increase in atrial dynamics but not ANP secretion. These findings show that ursolic acid increases ANP secretion via its activation of K+ATP channels and subsequent inhibition of Ca2+ entry through L-type Ca2+ channels in rabbit atria. These data also suggest that ursolic acid increases atrial dynamics via its inhibition of Na+-K+-ATPase activity.

In this study, a novel colorimetric sensor arraybased on chemo dyes including porphyrins and pH indicatorswere developed to analyse the volatile organiccompounds of Chinese Baijiu with different grades. Ethylacetate, ethyl butyrate and ethyl caproate appeared bysignificantly different concentration in different Baijiugrades measuring by gas chromatography and mass spectrometryand they were chosen as characteristic volatileorganic components. The olfactory visualization systembased on colorimetric sensor arrays was used to identifydifferent Baijiu grades. The data were processed bybuilding the principle components analysis, linear discriminantanalysis and K-nearest neighbor classificationmodels with the results of sensory evaluation and olfactoryvisualization system. This work presents a new-style colorimetricsensor using sensitive chemo dyes which hassignificant potential in quantitative analysis of volatileorganic compounds, afterwards identifying different gradesof Baijiu.

Two transition metal ions (Fe3+ and Cu2+) and a rare earth metal ion (Ce3+) were selected to coordinate with amidoximated polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofibrous membrane for preparing three metal modified PAN nanofibrous membrane complexes (M-AO-n-PANs, M = Fe, Cu, or Ce) as the heterogeneous Fenton catalysts for the dye degradation in water under visible irradiation. The coordination kinetics of three metal ions with modified PAN nanofibrous membranes was studied and the catalytic properties of the resulting complexes were also compared. The results indicated that increasing metal ion concentrations in solution or higher coordination temperature led to a significant increase in metal content, particularly in Fe and Cu contents of the complexes. Their coordination process could be described using Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic equations. Moreover, Fe-AO-n-PAN had the best photocatalytic efficiency for the dye degradation in acidic medium, but a lower photocatalytic activity than Cu-AO-n-PAN in alkali medium.
