        Silicon oil exhibits the properies of both organic substances, thus it has many superior properties such as higher thermal resistance and lower thermal oxidation level when comlared to other dielectric liquid. However, its inherent feature to impurities and humidity and other gases makes it difficult to study its physical properties. In order to investigate the dielectric characteristics, dielectric liquid of viscosity 1〔cSt〕 is chosen as the specimen and experiment is performed in the temperature range of 20∼65〔℃〕and frequency range of 30∼?? As a result, the observed linear decrease in tanδvalue at the frequency range below 3〔kHz〕is due to the influence of frequency, where as the increase in tanδvalue at higher frequency range is contributed by electrode's resistance. At a fixed frequency of 30〔kHz〕, increasing temperature results in higher peak value and wide width of the absorption curve. This is due to the increase in dipole and viscosity. As temperature increases, dipole moment is decreased from 0.98 to 0.64〔debye〕. The activation energy which causes the relaxation and loss of dielectric is obtained about 15〔kcal/mole〕.

        Recently, the research on materials required for production of electric and electronic parts has strongly demanded for rapid developement in information industrial structure. But there are many different aging reasons that cause the intrinsic function of these polymers to dectrase when used insulators and dielectrics. In this research, It is studied that the variation of the dielectric characteristics of the specimen(biaxially oriented polypropylene) according to the change with irradiation dose(??Co-?? ray) of the influence of temperature and applied voltage. As for the temperature dependence of dielectric characteristics, the a peak at 110[℃] increases accordingly to the increment of irradiation which is contributed by ???crystal region. The β peak which apperas the orientation by dipoles and molecular motions in the amorphous region at about 60[℃]. For the voltage dependence of tan δat low temperature, the peak of the tan δshifts accordingly to the increasment of irradiation dose towarde the high temperature.

        Effects of a Self-Stretching Exercise Program on Musculoskeletal Symptom for Care Workers

        This study was carried out to identify how a self-stretching exercise program affects pain for each body area, pain relief and job satisfaction for care workers. 20 of 40 care workers with musculoskeletal symptom were randomly selected and participated a self-stretching exercise program consisting of 15 motions. The intervention was done five times or more per weeks for 8 weeks and 1 session lasted within 15 minutes. 'Musculoskeletal symptom survey table' of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency(KOSHA) and JDI(Job Descriptive Index) was used for pain on the musculoskeletal symptom and job satisfaction. Survey were done twice before and after the program. The result of this study showed that self-stretching exercise program group(SSPG) relieved from pain significantly in the shoulders(p<.01) and lumbar(p<.05), comparing to the non self-stretching exercise program group(NSPG). Although no significant difference on variations in the JDI appeared in SSPG, the significant reduction appeared from the colleague relationship and organization in NSPG(p<.05). SSPG showed the significant increase on variations in JDI from the job and organization comparing to NSPG. Especially, the improvement on satisfaction for the organization was shown(p<.05). Accordingly, the self-stretching exercise program for care workers can be said to positively affect the overall pain relief and increase on the JDI.

        Overexpression of rice isoflavone reductase-like gene (<i>OsIRL</i>) confers tolerance to reactive oxygen species

        <P>Isoflavone reductase is an enzyme involved in isoflavonoid biosynthesis in plants. However, rice isoflavone reductase-like gene (<I>OsIRL,</I> accession no. AY071920) has not been unraveled so far. Here, we have characterized its behavior in response to oxidizing agents. Using Northern and Western blot analyses, the <I>OsIRL</I> gene and protein were shown to be down-regulated in young seedling roots treated with reduced glutathione (GSH) and diphenyleneiodonium (DPI), known quenchers of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The <I>OsIRL</I> transcript level in rice suspension-cultured cells was also found to be induced by oxidants such as hydrogen peroxide (H<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB>), ferric chloride (FeCl<SUB>3</SUB>), methyl viologen (MV) and glucose/glucose oxidase (G/GO), but down-regulated when co-treated with GSH. Furthermore, to investigate whether overexpression of <I>OsIRL</I> in transgenic rice plants promotes resistance to ROS, we generated transgenic rice lines overexpressing the <I>OsIRL</I> gene under an abscisic acid (ABA) inducible promoter. Results showed that the <I>OsIRL</I> transgenic rice line activated by ABA treatment was tolerant against MV and G/GO-induced stress in rice leave and suspension-cultured cells. Our results strongly suggest the involvement of <I>OsIRL</I> in homeostasis of ROS.</P>

        The Effect of Group Exercise Program on Cognitive Function of Elderly people

        The goal of this study was to assess the effect of a group exercise program on cognitive function of elderly people. Subjects were chosen to be elders with dementia having minor to moderate degrees of cognitive function. Study was started out by randomly dividing the 16 subjects into two groups, each with 8 people; the group exercise group and the control group. The group exercise group performed 8 weeks of group exercise program and general physiotherapy while the control group only performed general physiotherapy. Cognitive function was measured by Korean version mini-mental state examination. The study group's attention and calculation statistically significantly improved but the control group saw no statistically significant change. The group exercise program affected improvement in cognitive function of elderly people with dementia and in particular, was effective for enhancing their attention and calculation.

        The Effect of Application Parameter of Pulsed Direct Current on Wound Healing of Patients with Pressure Ulcer

        This study investigated the effects of changes to the pulsation factor of pulsed direct currents on wound healing. Patients with a pressure ulcer at a care hospital for the elderly were randomly divided into three groups: Group 1 involved the application of $100{\mu}s$ in pulse duration, 10 ms in pulse period, 100 pps in a pulsation factor, 15 mA in pulse amplitude, and polarity red+ by using pulsed direct currents; Group 2 involved a change of pulse period to 8 ms; and Group 3 received general wound management. Although there were no statistically significant differences in the changing stages of pressure ulcers among the groups, all the groups dropped in numerical stages. In the two groups to which pulsed direct currents were applied, there was a statistically significant reduction in the stages of pressure ulcers from the initial assessment to the 12-week assessment (p<.05). Even though there were no statistically significant differences in changes to the area of pressure ulcers among the groups, a statistically significant decrease was found in pulsed direct current group 2 whose pulse period was shortened (p<.05). There was no difference in the healing rate of pressure ulcers among the groups, but it made a numerical increase in pulsed direct current group 1 and group 2 and a numerical decrease in group 3. There were no significant differences in the characteristics of those who had a full recovery among the groups. Those findings indicate that pulsed direct currents have positive effects on the wound healing of patients with a pressure ulcer and that a treatment with pulsed direct currents whose pulsation factor is raised by reducing the pulse duration is especially effective.

        Differentially expressed proteins in the liver of Gulo-/- mice following treatments with Helicobacter pylori and diethylnitrosamine

        Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is an essential nutrient of most living tissues. We established a strain of Gulo-/- mice with known deficiency, in which vitamin C intake can be controlled by diet, like humans, and investigated the differentially expressed proteins following treatments with Helicobacter pylori and diethylnitrosamine (DENA) in the liver of Gulo-/- mice using a proteomic approach. Expression of p53, 14-3-3ε and 14-3-3δ in Gulo-/- mice liver tissue was analyzed by immunohistochemistry. 2-DE maps constructed from Gulo-/- mice liver and differentially expressed proteins in liver tissue were identified by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF/MS). In Gulo-/- mice after H. Pylori infection, followed by treatment with DENA, no differences in p53, 14-3-3ε and 14-3-3δ were observed by immunohistochemistry. Proteome analyses using MALDI-TOF/MS resulted in successful identification of 12 proteins (nine proteins were up-regulated and three were down-regulated). Specifically, peroxiredoxin-6 and Alpha-1-antitrypsin 1-4 were up-regulated in liver after H. Pylori infection followed by treatment with DENA. These results indicated that oral supplementation with vitamin C led to rescue of Gulo-/- mice from vitamin deficiency, and protected the liver from H.pylori infection and/or DENA effect, and vitamin C also protected the liver against oxidative stress
