      • Analysis of Hough Data Behavior for Scene Recognition

Kazuki Ueno,Jun’ichi Yamaguchi 제어로봇시스템학회 2009 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2009 No.8

In this paper, the authors describe on an analysis of Hough data behavior for recognition of three dimensional scene. First, the relation between the change of shooting conditions and the behavior of Hough data was investigated, using the perspective transformation of lines. The investigation result cleared that the behavior shows a characteristic pattern and keeps three dimensional information of lines. Next, a work on a scene image verification is explained. In the study, we describe on Hough data verification using Matched filter. In this paper, the behavior of Hough data is explained in detail and a test of the scene image verification is shown.

Prompt gamma detection for range verification in proton therapy

        Shunsuke Kurosawa,Hidetoshi Kubo,Kazuki Ueno,Shigeto Kabuki,Satoru Iwaki,Michiaki Takahashi,Kojiro Taniue,Naoki Higashi,Kentaro Miuchi,Toru Tanimori,김도균,김종원 한국물리학회 2012 Current Applied Physics Vol.12 No.2

It is an on-going challenge to verify the proton range in situ during proton therapy. Since the protons stop in target tissue, measurement of gamma-rays emitted either promptly from nuclear de-excitation or in pair from positron annihilation is the feasible method to monitor the proton range in-vivo. Using the technique of gamma collimation, we empirically demonstrated that the proton range and prompt gamma distribution are well correlated in the therapy energy range, and that measuring prompt gammas is a viable method for the clinical application. However, this collimation technique appears not to be applicable to passively scattered proton beams. The device chosen for gamma imaging in 2D is an electron tracking Compton camera, which images single-emission photons employing a gas chamber to induce Compton scattering. Images of prompt gammas were attained at the proton beam energy of 140 MeV. Measurements showed that gamma image in the energy range of 800e2000 keV provides a better match with the proton range compared to the image by lower energy gammas.

      • Flight Control Simulators for Unmanned Fixed-Wing and VTOL Aircraft

        Naoharu Yoshitani,Shin-ichi Hashimoto,Takehiro Kimura,Kazuki Motohashi,Shoh Ueno 제어로봇시스템학회 2009 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2009 No.8

Flight control simulators for fixed-wing air craft and VTOL(VerticalTake-offandLanding) air craft have been developed for understanding flight control dynamics and for improving control strategies and performances. They simulate automatic control of a flight path of the aircraft, using six-degree-of-freedom nonlinear equation store present aircraft dynamics. The control system is multi-layered. For fixed-wing aircraft, it consists of flight-path controller, heading and flight-path angle controller, acceleration controller and attitude controller. The control strategy is based on ’required acceleration’, proposed by the first author. On the other hand, the VTOL aircraft is of ducted-fantype. It has apropeller at the top of the duct, fixed vanes below it to cancel the counter torque of the propeller, and control vanes to control the attitude. The simulators have proved effective in testing and improving aircraft control strategies.

Safety and Pitfalls of Blepharoptosis Surgery in Elderly People

        Shirakawa Yuji,Uemura Kazuhisa,Kumegawa Shinji,Ueno Kazuki,Iwanishi Hiroki,Saika Shizuya,Asamura Shinichi 대한성형외과학회 2023 Archives of Plastic Surgery Vol.50 No.5

Background Elderly patients often have complications of blepharoptosis surgery that can result in the appearance or exacerbation of superficial punctate keratopathy (SPK). However, postoperative changes to SPK status have not been previously reported. We used subjective assessment of symptoms and measurement of SPK scale classification to investigate the safety and efficacy of blepharoptosis surgery in elderly patients. Methods Included in this prospective study were 22 patients (44 eyes) with bilateral blepharoptosis that underwent surgery. Patients comprised 8 males and 14 females with a mean (±standard deviation) age of 75.7 ± 8.2 years (range: 61–89). Blepharoptosis surgery consisted of transcutaneous levator advancement and blepharoplasty including resection of soft tissue (skin, subcutaneous tissue, and the orbicularis oculi muscle). Margin reflex distance-1 (MRD-1) measurement, a questionnaire survey of symptoms and SPK scale classification, was administered preoperatively and 3 months postoperatively for evaluation. Results The median MRD-1 was 1 mm preoperatively and 2.5 mm postoperatively, representing a significant postoperative improvement. SPK area and density scores were found to increase when the MRD-1 increase was more than 2.5 mm with surgery. All 10 items on the questionnaire tended have increased scores after surgery, and significant differences were observed in 7 items (poor visibility, ocular fatigue, heavy eyelid, foreign body sensation, difficulty in focusing, headaches, and stiff shoulders). Conclusion Blepharoptosis surgery was found to be a safe and effective way to maintain the increase in MRD-1 within 2.0 mm. Despite the benefits, surgeons must nonetheless be aware that blepharoptosis surgery is a delicate procedure in elderly people.
