An Analysis of English Pronunciation of Japanese Learners: From the Viewpoint of EIL
( Yuko Tominaga ) 범태평양응용언어학회 2011 범태평양응용언어학회지 Vol.15 No.2
The objective of this research is to detect effective factors in English pronunciation teaching from the viewpoint of EIL (English as an International Language). This research is based on the data of the Successful Pronunciation Learners (SPL) selected by the raters, Japanese and native speakers of English (NSE), in Tominaga (2005). On the grounds that the aim of teaching English to Japanese students should not be confined within the intelligibility to NSE, in order to examine whether the pronunciation of each SPL in this research is really not only intelligible but also sounds good to both NSE and non-NSE from the viewpoint of World Englishes (WE) or EIL, their pronunciations were evaluated by non-NSE from 12 countries studying English in an English school in the United Kingdom. This evaluation was analyzed and compared with the evaluation by the NSE. In respect of the correlation between the evaluations by NSE and those by non-NSE, significant correlation was found between rhythm and fluency. In regard to the total score, the evaluation by non-NSE was generally stricter than that by NSE
CAD/CAM splint based on soft tissue 3D simulation for treatment of facial asymmetry
Tominaga, Kazuhiro,Habu, Manabu,Tsurushima, Hiroki,Takahashi, Osamu,Yoshioka, Izumi Korean Association of Maxillofacial Plastic and Re 2016 Maxillofacial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery Vol.38 No.-
Background: Most cases of facial asymmetry involve yaw deformity, and determination of the yaw correction level is very difficult. Methods: We use three-dimensional soft tissue simulation to determine the yaw correction level. This three-dimensional simulation is based on the addition of cephalometric prediction to gradual yaw correction. Optimal yaw correction is determined visually, and an intermediate splint is fabricated with computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing. Application of positioning devices and the performance of horseshoe osteotomy are advisable. Results: With this procedure, accurate repositioning of jaws was confirmed and patients obtained fairly good facial contour. Conclusions: This procedure is a promising method for a widespread, predictable treatment of facial asymmetry.

Purpose: Pelvic exenteration (PE) is a highly invasive procedure with high morbidity and mortality rates. Promising options to reduce this invasiveness have included laparoscopic and transperineal approaches. The aim of this study was to identify the safety of combined transabdominal and transperineal endoscopic PE for colorectal malignancies. Methods: Fourteen patients who underwent combined transabdominal and transperineal PE (T group: 2-team approach, n = 7; O group: 1-team approach, n = 7) for colorectal malignancies between April 2016 and March 2020 in our institutions were included in this study. Clinicopathological features and perioperative outcomes were compared between groups. Results: All patients successfully underwent R0 resection. Operation time tended to be shorter in the T group (463 minutes) than in the O group (636 minutes, P = 0.080). Time to specimen removal was significantly shorter (258 minutes vs. 423 minutes, P = 0.006), blood loss was lower (343 mL vs. 867 mL, P = 0.042), and volume of blood transfusion was less (0 mL vs. 560 mL, P = 0.063) in the T group, respectively. Postoperative complications were similar between groups. Conclusion: Combined transabdominal and transperineal PE under a synchronous 2-team approach was feasible and safe, with the potential to reduce operation time, blood loss, and surgeon stress.
A POWER CONSUMPTION ANALYSIS OF ULTRA-LOW POWER MICROCONTROLLERS
Koji TOMINAGA,Koichiro TANAKA 대한전자공학회 2009 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2009 No.7
This paper reports the measurement results of the power consumption provided to an ultra-low-power microcontroller. Recently, mobile devices equipped with wireless communication capabilities have been effectively used by many people. Therefore, there are quite a lot of demands to adapt the capabilities to mobile devices without them. However, mobile devices which are required long battery life might not operate correctly when the module equipped with the capabilities simply connects them because the module consumes a big electric power. Ultralow-power microcontrollers will be able to reduce the power consumption of the system including their communication modules by controlling them. However, it is necessary to decrease the power consumption of the microcontroller to achieve this. Then, we measure the power consumption of MSP430 microcontrollers made by Texas Instruments. In the experiment, the power consumption value in some microcontrollers which only the internal memory size is different is measured. Moreover, the power consumption of the microcontroller in four of low-power modes (LPMs) are investigated. As a result, the microcontrollers with different internal memory size have showed the same power consumption. In addition, the power consumption of it has decreased when the LPM rise. In this paper, these results are shown in detail. In addition, the system that transmits the digital data converted from analog data by wireless communication.
