Changes in cell adhesion molecule (CAM) expression and miRNAs regulating them are known to be involved in malignant progression in colon cancer. We investigated expression profiles of CAM genes and non-coding RNAs in CaCo2 colon cancer cells in static culture and under dynamic flow conditions perfused in microfluidic chip emulating physiological microenvironment. We incubated monolayers of CaCo2 cells in Transwell® units either under static conditions or under flow in a microfluidic chip. We identified 7 up-regulated CAM genes (CD44, CDH7, CEACAM5, CEACAM6, CYR61, L1CAM and VCAN), 7 down-regulated genes (COL12A1, FGA, FGB, FGG, GJA1, ITGA5 and LAMA1) and 69 miRNAs targeting them under the influence of microcirculation. The revealed network comprised CAM genes known to interact with each other and 13 miRNAs simultaneously regulating more than one of them. The discovered regulatory network comprising CAM genes and miRNAs is likely involved in normal functioning of intestine epithelium as well as in cancer progression.
An IoT routing based Local River Field Environment Management solution using Uzbekistan Testbed

Water consumption has grown at more than 2.5 times, comparing the past century. About 2.8 billion people live in river basins with some form of water deficit, because more than 75 % of the river flows are withdrawn for agriculture and other needs [1]. Challenges faced by more and more countries in their struggle for economic and social development are increasingly related to water [2]. This paper proposes a test of an effective local river field environment management solution. And describing a part of a pilot project for the ministry of water resources of Uzbekistan. Current work focused on direct action items of the existing project and describe an IoT routing based solution for local river field environment management solutions. Suggested technological decisions provided by needs and on-site testing results. The paper describes the backbone of IoT routing based river water resources management system.

Through analysis of the evolution of the Japanese, Chinese and South Korean narratives of the Silk Road, this paper argues that the content and the nature of these Silk Road strategies changed with time and the international environment. Thus, this paper claims that, the notion of the Silk Road has changed from a static concept of a historical trade route into a product of social construction of a number of powerful states – strategies that are constantly shaped, imagined and re-interpreted. In this sense, the Silk Road is not a foreign policy doctrine but rather a discursive strategy of engagement that largely exists in the realm of narration. This narration is also a matter of social construction that is subject to change depending on the international environment of the country (China, Japan, Korea, etc.) that produces such narratives, context of a receiving region, the alternative narratives that compete for wider international acceptance and the country's vision of “self” and the “other” in the international context.
Craving Jobs? Revisiting Labor and Educational Migration from Uzbekistan to Japan and South Korea
( Timur Dadabaev ),( Jasur Soipov ) 계명대학교 실크로드중앙아시아연구원 2020 Acta Via Serica Vol.5 No.2
This paper focuses on the emerging patterns of educational mobility and unskilled labor migration from Uzbekistan to Japan and South Korea. Labor migration and educational mobility are becoming the next “horizon” in the expanded relationship between East and Central Asia, powered by several factors, including the efforts by Japan and South Korea to build “original” people-oriented policy engagements with the region and the demand from Central Asian states, such as Uzbekistan, to provide more labor opportunities to their young and growing populations. This paper presents the initial findings of a pilot survey that explores and occasionally compares the experiences of Uzbek migrants to Japan and South Korea, using datasets of face-to-face interviews related to various aspects of life in Japan and South Korea. The interviews were conducted face to face and online (Telegram, Skype, etc.) with 66 migrants and Japanese language school students (whom this paper treats as labor migrants masquerading as students) in Japan from November 2019 to January 2020 as well as online with 30 laborers and students in South Korea from August to September 2020.
Tumour-like Druggable Gene Expression Pattern of CaCo2 Cells in Microfluidic Chip
Timur R Samatov,Nadezhda V Senyavina,Vladimir V Galatenko,Eugene V Trushkin,Svetlana A Tonevitskaya,Dmitriy E Alexandrov,Galina P Shibukhova,Udo Schumacher,Alexander G Tonevitsky 한국바이오칩학회 2016 BioChip Journal Vol.10 No.3
The human-on-chip technology provides an efficient basis for preclinical studies and has potentially a greater predictive power for human drug response than classical 2D cell culture. Here we report the expression profile of druggable genes in the human colon cancer cells CaCo2 in static culture and within a microfluidic chip. We identified gene expression pattern under flow to be closer to the one of CaCo2 primary xenograft tumours as compared to those cells grown without circulation. The obtained results indicate that a microenvironment connected to a circulation within a chip brings the cells closer to in vivo situation. Hence the human-on-chip technology is a more powerful tool for drug development than conventional 2D cell culture.
Community life, memory and a changing nature of mahalla identity in Uzbekistan
Timur Dadabaev 한양대학교 아태지역연구센터 2013 Journal of Eurasian Studies Vol.4 No.2
This article focuses on the post-Soviet recollections of Soviet-era mahalla community by ordinary citizens in contemporary Uzbekistan. The primary message of this paper is that the community has historically represented one of only a few effective traditional structures that can unite representatives of various ethnic and religious groups through the creation of a common identity based on shared residence. However, throughout history of these communities, political authorities have often attempted to manipulate these institutions to enhance the state's legitimacy. This type of manipulation has challenged the essential nature of residents' attachment to their communities and called the authority and legitimacy of mahalla structures into question.
A Study on The Charter Type Choice of Turkish General Cargo And Drybulk Shipowners
Timur OZER,Ismail Bilge CETIN 한국해운물류학회 2012 The Asian journal of shipping and Logistics Vol.28 No.2
The purpose of this study is to determine the most often preferred charter types by Turkish general cargo and dry bulk shipowners and investigate the criteria which affect and determine the selection of charter types. In the study, the methodology utilized constitutes literature review, in-depth interview and survey. The data gained through the survey was processed, through which the means were found out and exposed to factor analysis. The study reveals that Turkish shipowners mostly prefer voyage charter. Another point revealed through the study is that shipowners consider the risk in the selected charter type, reliability of charterer, condition of the operated ship relatively important over the others in deciding on the charter types.
Japan's ODA assistance scheme and Central Asian engagement: Determinants, trends, expectations
Timur Dadabaev 한양대학교 아태지역연구센터 2016 Journal of Eurasian Studies Vol.7 No.1
As demonstrated in this paper, Japan over the years has grown to become the leading ODA provider in Central Asia (CA). ODA has served as a foreign policy tool and as the most significant tool for maintaining cooperation ties. Although the focus of Japan's ODA assistance over the years has been on East Asian countries, CA is growing to become another frontier for more proactive Japanese policies. The Japan-supported initiatives of recent years tend to favor more pragmatic cooperation schemes. As is exemplified by water-related assistance in Uzbekistan and support for local capacity building in Kyrgyzstan, Japanese assistance of a more focused character can better contribute to development both in these societies and in the region in general. These types of initiatives can successfully complement government-to-government assistance schemes and Japanese investments into large scale projects. The focus on local communities will also ensure that beneficiaries of the Japanese assistance projects will include not only governmental institutions but also the general public at large.
