AMALGAMATED DUPLICATION OF SOME SPECIAL RINGS

        Tavasoli, Elham,Salimi, Maryam,Tehranian, Abolfazl Korean Mathematical Society 2012 대한수학회보 Vol.49 No.5

Let R be a commutative Noetherian ring and let I be an ideal of R. In this paper we study the amalgamated duplication ring $R{\bowtie}I$ which is introduced by D'Anna and Fontana. It is shown that if R is generically Cohen-Macaulay (resp. generically Gorenstein) and I is generically maximal Cohen-Macaulay (resp. generically canonical module), then $R{\bowtie}I$ is generically Cohen-Macaulay (resp. generically Gorenstein). We also de ned generically quasi-Gorenstein ring and we investigate when $R{\bowtie}I$ is generically quasi-Gorenstein. In addition, it is shown that $R{\bowtie}I$ is approximately Cohen-Macaulay if and only if R is approximately Cohen-Macaulay, provided some special conditions. Finally it is shown that if R is approximately Gorenstein, then $R{\bowtie}I$ is approximately Gorenstein.

An ensemble soft weighted gene selection-based approach and cancer classification using modified metaheuristic learning

Tavasoli Niloofar,Rezaee Khosro,Momenzadeh Mohammadreza,Sehhati Mohammadreza 한국CDE학회 2021 Journal of computational design and engineering Vol.8 No.4

Hybrid algorithms are effective methods for solving optimization problems that rarely have been used in the gene selection procedure. This paper introduces a novel modified model for microarray data classification using an optimized gene subset selection method. The proposed approach consists of ensemble feature selection based on wrapper methods using five criteria, which reduces the data dimensions and time complexity. Five feature ranking procedures, including receiver operating characteristic curve, two-sample T-test, Wilcoxon, Bhattacharyya distance, and entropy, are used in the soft weighting method. Besides, we proposed a classification method that used the support vector machine (SVM) and metaheuristic algorithm. The optimization of the SVM hyper-parameters for the radial basis function (RBF) kernel function is performed using a modified Water Cycle Algorithm (mWCA). The results indicate that the ensemble performance of genes-mWCA SVM (EGmWS) is considered an efficient method compared to similar approaches in terms of accuracy and solving the uncertainty problem. Five benchmark microarray datasets, including leukemia, MicroRNA-Breast, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, prostate, and colon, are employed for experiments. The highest and lowest numbers of genes are related to prostate with 12 533 genes and MicroRNA-Breast with 1926 genes, respectively. Besides, the highest and lowest numbers of samples are MicroRNA-Breast with 132 samples and colon with 62 samples, respectively. The results of classifying all data by applying effective genes of the EF-WS yielded high accuracies in microarray data classification. In addition to the robustness and simplicity of the proposed method, the model’s generalizability is another crucial aspect of the method that can be further developed to increase the accuracy while reducing classification error.

A rare case of Sjogren-Larsson syndrome with recurrent pneumonia and asthma

Tavasoli, Azita,Sayyahfar, Shirin,Behnam, Babak The Korean Pediatric Society 2016 Clinical and Experimental Pediatrics (CEP) Vol.59 No.6

Sjogren-Larsson syndrome (SLS) is a rare autosomal recessive neurocutaneous disorder with worldwide incidence of 0.4 per 100,000 people. It is characterized by the triad of congenital ichthyosis, spastic diplegia or quadriplegia, and mental retardation. Herein we report a 2-year-old male child with SLS, asthma, and recurrent pneumonia. SLS was confirmed by a molecular genetics study that revealed a deletion mutation in the ALDH3A2 gene. An ALDH3A2 gene mutation results in dysfunction of the microsomal enzyme fatty aldehyde dehydrogenase and impaired metabolism and accumulation of leukotriene B4, which is a key molecule and a pro-inflammatory mediator in developing allergic diseases, especially asthma. An increased level of leukotriene B4 has been reported in SLS patients. As far as we are aware, this is the first report of SLS associated with asthma and recurrent pneumonia. In conclusion, pediatricians should be aware of and evaluate patients with SLS for possible associated asthma and allergic disorders.

Robust Adaptive Boundary Control of a Perturbed Hybrid Euler-Bernoulli Beam with Coupled Rigid and Flexible Motion

Ali Tavasoli 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2017 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.15 No.2

In this paper, a robust adaptive boundary controller is proposed to stabilize the coupled rigid-flexiblemotion of an Euler-Bernoulli beam in presence of boundary and distributed perturbations. Applying Hamilton’sprinciple, the dynamics of the hybrid beam model, including the actuators hub and the payload at its ends, is representedthrough four nonhomogeneous nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs) subject to ordinary differentialequations (ODEs) of boundary conditions. Using a Lyapunov-based control synthesis procedure, a robust nonlinearboundary controller is established that asymptotically stabilizes the perturbed beam vibration while regulating therigid motion coordinates. A redesign of the proposed control laws produces a robust adaptive boundary controllerthat achieves control objectives in the presence of both parametric and modelling uncertainties. Control design isdirectly based on system PDEs without truncating the model so that instabilities from spillover effects are mitigated. The control inputs to the beam consist of three forces/torque applied to the actuators hub and a transverseforce applied to the tip payload. Simulation results are used to investigate the efficiency of the proposed approach.

Enhancement of MoO3–K2O/CNTs nanocatalyst activity and selectivity in higher alcohols synthesis using microemulsion technique

        Ahmad Tavasoli,Saba Karimi,Maryam Davari,Nazanin Nasrollahi,Tahereh Nematian 한국공업화학회 2014 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.20 No.2

Alkalized MoS2 nanocatalysts supported on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is prepared using microemultiontechnique with water-to-surfactant ratios of 1–4. The nanocatalysts were extensively characterized bydifferent methods and their activity and selectivity in higher alcohols synthesis (HAS) been assessed in afixed bed micro-reactor. The physico-chemical properties and performance of the nanocatalysts werecompared with the catalyst prepared by impregnation method. Very narrow particle size distributionhas been produced by the microemulsion technique at the relatively high loading of active metal(15 wt.% Mo). The TEM images showed that small Mo nanoparticles are confined inside the CNTs and theon the outer surface of the CNTs (2–7 nm). Using microemultion technique with water to surfactant ratioof one; the average MoO3 particle sizes decreased to 4.5 nm, the %dispersion increased to 60.75 and the%reduction increased by 43%. Also, the chemical interactions between K–Mo–O species increased, enhancing the conditions for the formation of alcohols. Activity and selectivity were found to bedependent on the catalyst preparation method and water to surfactant ratio. The %CO conversionincreased to 43.8%. The CNTs-supported MoO3–K2O nanocatalyst synthesized by the proposedmicroemulsion technique with water to surfactant ratio of one, decreased the hydrocarbons selectivityto 21.98% and increased the alcohols selectivity to 65.21%. Finally, using microemultion methoddramatically decreased the methanol selectivity and increased ethanol and other higher alcoholsselectivities.

Gas Separation Polysulfone Membranes Modified by Cadmium-based Nanoparticles

        Elmira Tavasoli,Morteza Sadeghi,Hossein Riazi,Ahmad Arabi Shamsabadi,Masoud Soroush 한국섬유공학회 2018 Fibers and polymers Vol.19 No.10

This paper presents new mixed-matrix membranes (MMMs) synthesized via incorporating hexamethylenetetramine dicyanamide cadmium nanoparticles, a metal organic framework (MOF), into the polysulfone (PSF) matrix. The MMMs are characterized using FTIR and SEM analyses, and their gas permeation properties are evaluated at different MOF loadings and various pressures. The results show that the nanoparticle is compatible with the polymer and distributes homogenously in the matrix. Compared to the pristine PSF membrane, the MMM with 2.5 wt. % of the MOF nanoparticles has lower CO2, CH4, N2 and O2 permeabilities but significantly higher CO2/CH4, CO2/N2 and O2/N2 gas pair selectivities (i.e., 41.66, 20.08 and 5.09, respectively, which are 42.6, 61.6 and 60.02 % higher). As the total pressure increases, the gas permeabilities of the pristine PSF membrane and the MMMs decrease, but their sieving abilities increase. These results suggest that gas selectivities of high free-volume polymers with poor sieving abilities can be improved by incorporating the MOF into the polymer.

Four phase hydrate equilibria of methane and carbon dioxide with heavy hydrate former compounds: Experimental measurements and thermodynamic modeling

Farzaneh Feyzi,Hamed Tavasoli 한국화학공학회 2016 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.33 No.8

We experimentally investigated the hydrate dissociation condition for four phase hydrate (H)-aqueous liquid (LAq)-hydrocarbon rich liquid (LHC)-vapor (V) for the ternary systems of help gas-heavy hydrate former-water. Methane and carbon dioxide are known as help gases and benzene and cyclohexane are considered as heavy hydrate formers. The experimental data were generated using an isochoric pressure-search method. Two different equations of state (EOS) were employed to study the equilibrium phase behavior of ternary four phase systems. The EOSs considered are Valderama-Patel-Teja EOS combined with non-density dependent mixing rule (VPT+NDD) and Statistical Associating Fluid Theory EOS proposed by Huang and Radosz (SAFT-HR). The required binary interaction parameters (BIP) were obtained using vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) and liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) data. The hydrate phase was modeled by the modification of the solid solution theory of van der Waals and Platteeuw. To obtain reliable results, distortion of cages due to occupation of large molecules was considered. The Kihara parameters of cyclohexane were adjusted to hydrate dissociation data. Model calculations for hydrate forming conditions were found to be in satisfactory agreement with the newly reported data in this work and literature data.

Effects of short-term atorvastatin use in patients with calcium stones: A randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial

        Fatemeh Taheri,Maryam Taheri,Abbas Basiri,Alireza Khoshdel,Fariba Samadian,Sanaz Tavasoli 대한비뇨의학회 2019 Investigative and Clinical Urology Vol.60 No.6

Purpose: A few experimental and observational studies have reported that atorvastatin prevents calcium oxalate stone formation. Our study is the first to investigate the effect of atorvastatin on 24-hour urinary metabolites, urinary malondialdehyde (U-MDA) (an oxidative stress marker) and urinary neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (U-NGAL) (a renal tubular injury marker) in patients with calcium stones and hyperoxaluria. Materials and Methods: This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group clinical trial included 32 adults with recurrent calcium stone formation and hyperoxaluria. All participants received a 3-month course of either atorvastatin (20 mg/d) or placebo of an identical shape. Both groups received the usual nutritional care based on the European Association of Urology guidelines. Results: Twenty-eight participants completed the study. Serum levels of total and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol decreased in the atorvastatin group, and these changes were significantly different between groups (p<0.001). No statistically significant differences were observed between intergroup changes of the 24-hour urinary metabolite analysis, the U-MDA to creatinine ratio and the U-NGAL to creatinine ratio. Conclusions: Atorvastatin administration at a dose of 20 mg/d for 3 months did not affect 24-hour urinary metabolite, U-MDA and U-NGAL levels in recurrent calcium stone formers. However, this study could not disprove the preventive role of atorvastatin in kidney stone formation. Future studies should consider a larger sample size, longer follow-up, different drug doses, and measurements of multiple biomarkers of oxidative stress and tubular injury.
