      • Agribusiness: An Ethical Approach to Marketing

Tata joseph Ngoe 한국농식품정보과학회 2013 Agribusiness and Information Management Vol.5 No.1

Price skimming practices, false claim on products, false information/communication, marketing overseas, and deception on products in marketing have received signifi cant attention by the researchers of ethics in marketing studies. This research considers these phenomena as marketing instruments that grossly violate the practice of ethics in this domain. The two most crucial parts in marketing that have received greater attention are product safety and advertising. The paper also examines Ethical Marketing as the ability to make marketing decisions that are morally right and acceptable to all. In order words, ethics in marketing explains how moral standards can be applied in marketing decisions. It seeks to answer the research question by looking at some fundamental business ethics theories, namely, Virtue ethics, Utilitarian, and Deontological approaches to business ethics. Nevertheless, ethics in business is very controversial as many hold different view about what makes up the standard morals that corporations should take and so it is necessary for any organization to formulate its ethical codes to follow.

Laticifer tissue-specific activation of the <i>Hevea SRPP</i> promoter in <i>Taraxacum brevicorniculatum</i> and its regulation by light, tapping and cold stress

Tata, Sandeep Kumar,Choi, Jun Young,Jung, Ji-Yul,Lim, Ka Yung,Shin, Jeong Sheop,Ryu, Stephen Beungtae Elsevier 2012 INDUSTRIAL CROPS AND PRODUCTS Vol.40 No.-

<P><B>Highlights</B></P><P>► The <I>SRPP</I> promoter induces gene expression primarily in laticiferous tissues. ► The <I>SRPP</I> promoter responds to external conditions including light, tapping, and cold. ► The <I>SRPP</I> promoter is suitable for the latex-specific expression of a target gene(s) such as key rubber biosynthetic genes.</P> <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P><I>Hevea brasiliensis</I> is an important plant species currently cultivated for the commercial production of natural rubber. As the demand for rubber continues to increase, it is important to identify alternative sources of natural rubber and to increase plant rubber content using molecular approaches. <I>Taraxacum kok-saghyz</I>, a Russian dandelion, produces natural rubber that is of high quality. In this study, the <I>SMALL RUBBER PARTICLE PROTEIN</I> (<I>SRPP</I>) promoter from <I>H. brasiliensis</I> was characterized to determine its suitability for the expression of latex-specific genes in <I>Taraxacum brevicorniculatum</I> which is another Russian dandelion species of <I>T. kok-saghyz</I> from the similar geographical areas. Studies using transgenic <I>Taraxacum</I> plants carrying the <I>SRPP</I> promoter<I>::β-glucuronidase</I> (<I>GUS</I>) sequence indicate that the <I>SRPP</I> promoter does induce gene expression primarily in laticiferous tissues. Additionally, the promoter was regulated by various external conditions including light, tapping, and cold. These findings suggest that the <I>SRPP</I> promoter will be a useful molecular tool for the manipulation of gene expression in the laticiferous tissues of <I>Taraxacum</I> plant species.</P>

First Principle Approach to Modeling of Primitive Quad Rotor

Tata sudiyanto,Muljowidodo,Agus Budiyono 한국항공우주학회 2009 International Journal of Aeronautical and Space Sc Vol.10 No.2

By the development of recent technology, a new variant of rotorcrafts having four rotors start drawing attention from aerial-robotics engineers more than before. Its potential spans from just being control device test bed to performing difficult task such as carrying surveillance device to unreachable places. In this regards, modeling a quad-rotor is significant in analyzing its dynamic behavior and in synthesizing control system for such a vehicle. This paper summarizes the modeling of a mini quad-rotor aerial vehicle. A first principle approach is considered for deriving the model based on Euler-Newton equations of motion. The result of the modeling is a simulation platform that is expected to acceptably predict the dynamic behavior of the quad-rotor in various flight conditions. Linear models associated with different flight condition can be extracted for the purpose of control synthesis.

      • Challenges and Effective Management of Supply Chain in Wine Industry and Agribusiness

Tata Joseph Ngoe 한국농식품정보과학회 2012 Agribusiness and Information Management Vol.4 No.2

Studies have shown that the future of the wine market rests on the effective and efficient changes in technology to the supply chain used by most of the major global players. In today’s wine industry, companies are faced with the ever-shifting demand for their products, strict regulation and increasing price competition. Even at that, mature companies in the wine industry are succeeding by scaling up production, streamlining their supply chains, expanding into new geographic areas, implementing more efficient processes, cleverly marketing products, and focusing on ever closer relationships with suppliers, partners and customers. However, this paper looks at supply chain challenges in the wine industry from a global perspective presented in the inbound, manufacturing and outbound processes as well as offer effective solutions in order for companies to gain a competitive advantage and succeed on a global level.

Heterologous expression of chloroplast‐localized <i>geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate synthase</i> confers fast plant growth, early flowering and increased seed yield

        Tata, Sandeep Kumar,Jung, Jihye,Kim, Yoon‐,Ha,Choi, Jun Young,Jung, Ji‐,Yul,Lee, In‐,Jung,Shin, Jeong Sheop,Ryu, Stephen Beungtae BLACKWELL 2016 PLANT BIOTECHNOLOGY JOURNAL Vol.14 No.1

<P><B>Summary</B></P><P>Geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate synthase (GGPS) is a key enzyme for a structurally diverse class of isoprenoid biosynthetic metabolites including gibberellins, carotenoids, chlorophylls and rubber. We expressed a chloroplast‐targeted <I>GGPS</I> isolated from sunflower (<I>Helianthus annuus</I>) under control of the cauliflower mosaic virus 35S promoter in tobacco (<I>Nicotiana tabacum</I>). The resulting transgenic tobacco plants expressing heterologous <I>GGPS</I> showed remarkably enhanced growth (an increase in shoot and root biomass and height), early flowering, increased number of seed pods and greater seed yield compared with that of <I>GUS</I>‐transgenic lines (control) or wild‐type plants. The gibberellin levels in <I>HaGGPS</I>‐transgenic plants were higher than those in control plants, indicating that the observed phenotype may result from increased gibberellin content. However, in <I>HaGGPS</I>‐transformant tobacco plants, we did not observe the phenotypic defects such as reduced chlorophyll content and greater petiole and stalk length, which were previously reported for transgenic plants expressing gibberellin biosynthetic genes. Fast plant growth was also observed in <I>HaGGPS</I>‐expressing <I>Arabidopsis</I> and dandelion plants. The results of this study suggest that <I>GGPS</I> expression in crop plants may yield desirable agronomic traits, including enhanced growth of shoots and roots, early flowering, greater numbers of seed pods and/or higher seed yield. This research has potential applications for fast production of plant biomass that provides commercially valuable biomaterials or bioenergy.</P>

Parametric Performance Investigation on Membraneless Microfluidic Paper Fuel Cell with Graphite Composed Pencil Stoke Electrodes

Lanka Tata Rao,Satish Kumar Dubey,Arshad Javed,Sanket Goel 한국정밀공학회 2021 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.22 No.1

Membraneless Microfluidic Paper Fuel Cells (MMPFCs) are promising devices to harvest energy for various portable applications. This is primarily because such devices eliminate the need for membrane, and external pumps due to the builtin co-laminar flow, and embedded capillaries, respectively. However, these devices have enormous scope to optimize their performance. Herein, investigations on MMPFC have been carried out with varying electrode separation, whereby cellulose papers acts as the microchannel of MMPFC. Here, various grades of carbon-supported graphite pencils serve as electrodes, formic acid acts as a fuel, and sulphuric acid works as an electrolyte. Oxygen from the atmospheric air acts as an oxidant for ionic exchange under co-laminar fl ow in the MMPFC. These MMPFCs with the optimized configuration provide enhanced energy densities with different grades of the microchannel material along with variation in electrode separation. Leveraging grade 1 Whatman cellulose paper as MMPFC microchannel with 1 mm electrode separation, the MMPFC generates energy with a maximum open-circuit potential of 0.49 V, a maximum current density of 2.45 mAcm −2 and power density of 0.26 mWcm −2 .
