<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Odorant receptors are the largest subfamily of G protein-coupled receptors and were recently suggested to play critical roles in nonolfactory tissues. However, the expression and function of odorant receptors in astrocytes, the most abundant cells in the brain, are not well known. We demonstrate that Olfr920 is highly expressed and propose that it functions as a short-chain fatty acid sensor in primary cortical astrocytes. The short-chain fatty acid isobutyric acid (IBA) was identified via a luciferase assay as an Olfr920 ligand. We show that IBA activates the G<SUB>s</SUB> protein-adenylyl cyclase-cAMP pathway via Olfr920 in primary cortical astrocytes by using cAMP and knockdown analyses. In addition, IBA reduces lipopolysaccharide-induced glial fibrillary acidic protein expression in reactive astrocytes. New Record of The Leek Moth, Acrolepiopsis nagaimo (Lepidoptera:Acrolepiidae) in Korea

Acrolepiopsis nagaimo (Yasuda, 2000) belonging to the family Acrolepiidae (Lepidoptera) is newly discovered in Korea. The species was first collected wild at Wol-ak-san [Mt.] a few years ago and they were recently found to infest Chinese yam, Dioscoreabatatas at a Chinese yam experimental field of the Institute for Bioresources Research located at Andong. Diagnostic characteristics of the adult are described and photographs of adult and male and female genitalia are provided.
A Treatment for Truncated Boundary in a Half-Space with 2-D Rayleigh Wave BEM

Analysis of two-dimensional Rayleigh wave scattering pattern by a surface defect is studied through modified boundary element method. BEM proposed in this paper has special treatment at each end of boundary which should have the Rayleigh wave go away without any generation of virtual reflections. It is shown that treatment for truncated boundary which is used to model two-dimensional Rayleigh waves" behavior in an elastic half-space is successfully implemented. To check numerical results" accuracy, time domain IFFT signal of the displacements is presented. Improvement on getting rid of unwanted influence of truncated boundary induced by 2-D Rayleigh waves on a flat surface of an elastic half-infinite medium is shown. As a final goal, the numerical results of Rayleigh wave scattering trend are plotted and they are compared with theoretical curves to prove its accuracy.
A strategy to reduce the output-buffer skew for hierarchical DLL

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>This paper describes a skew reducing strategy between the delay of replica model and that of the output-buffer along with variable external loads for a hierarchical delay-locked loop (DLL). The delay is initialized at the closest digitized value that is smaller than that of the output-buffer. Then, the precise open-loop based modification follows according to the detected accuracy of less than 100 ps in the vernier-scaled time-measurement circuit. The measured results of the test Si in a 0.35-μm CMOS process reveal the validity of the proposed strategy.</P>
한국·중국 초등교원양성기관 교육과정 내 아동문학교육 관련 교과목 비교 연구

이 논문의 목적은 우리나라 초등교원양성기관 교육과정의 아동문학 및 문학교육 관련 교과목을 분석하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 한국과 문화적 유사성을 지닌 중국 초등교원양성기관의 교육과정을 비교 분석하여 연구하였다. 한국과 중국의 초등교원양성체제 및 교육과정 편성 기준을 탐색하고 양국에서 아동문학교육에 특화된 초등교원양성기관을 선정하여 그 교육과정을 비교하였다. 그 결과 한국의 교육대학교에서 학생들이 아동문학을 학습할 기회는 매우 제한되었다. 중국의 경우, 상대적으로 아동문학교육 관련 교과목이 다수, 체계적으로 편성되어 있었다. 이는 중국의 초등교원양성체제가 다원화되어 있기 때문이다. 중국 초등교원양성기관 교육과정의 장점을 무조건 수용할 필요는 없으나 아동문학교육 특성화된 면모를 검토하여 한국 실정에 적합하게 수용할 필요가 있다. The purpose of this paper is to study how children’s literature education courses are organized in the curriculum of Korean university of education. To do this, the chinese university curriculum with cultural similarities to Korea was compared and studied. First, we explored the standards for organizing university of education curriculums in both countries. In addition, university of education specializing in children’s literature education were selected from both countries and compared the curriculum. As a result, students at university of education in Korea have very limited opportunities to study children’s literature. In China, there were a number of educational courses related to children’s literature and systematically organized. This is because China’s system of nurturing elementary teachers is multiple. Since there are differences in the system for nurturing elementary teachers in both countries, It is not necessary to unconditionally accept the merits of the Chinese elementary school teacher training curriculum, but it is necessary to properly accommodate the Korean elementary school teacher training institutions by reviewing the specialized aspects of children’s literature education.
