In the present study, the corrosion behavior of aluminum Al-7075 tempered (T-6 condition) alloy was evaluated by immersion testing and electrochemical testing in 1.75% and 3.5% NaCl environment at acidic, neutral and basic pH. The data obtained by both immersion tests and electrochemical corrosion tests (potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy tests) present that the corrosion rate of the alloy specimens is minimum for the pH=7 condition of the solution due to the formation of dense and well adherent thin protective oxide layer. Whereas the solutions with acidic and alkaline pH cause shift in the corrosion behavior of aluminum alloy to more active domains aggravated by the constant flux of acidic and alkaline ions (Cl- and OH-) in the media which anodically dissolve the Al matrix in comparison to precipitated intermetallic phases (cathodic in nature) formed due to T6 treatment. Consequently, the pitting behavior of the alloy, as observed by cyclic polarization tests, shifts to more active regions when pH of the solutions changes from neutral to alkaline environment due to localized dissolution of the matrix in alkaline environment that ingress by diffusion through the pores in the oxide film. Microscopic analysis also strengthens the results obtained by immersion corrosion testing and electrochemical corrosion testing as the study examines the corrosion behavior of this alloy under a systematic evaluation in marine environment.
Design and Characterization of Miniaturized Printed Antenna for UWB Communication Systems
Hussain Niamat,Syed Naheel Raza Rizv,Awan Wahaj Abbas 대한전기학회 2021 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.16 No.2
An electrically small ultra-wideband antenna for modern compact devices is presented in this paper. The antenna is constructed using a low-cost FR4 substrate, where etching slot and stub loading techniques are utilized to achieve miniaturization. The antenna comprises of simple geometrical structure with an overall size of 0.13 λ o × 0.19 λ o × 0.02 λ o ( λ o is the free-space wavelength at 3.5 GHz). A sample prototype was fabricated and tested to validate various performance parameters of the antenna. The antenna has measured 10 dB impedance bandwidth ranging from 3.55–12.16 GHz with a stable gain having a maximum value of 4.52 dBi. The performance comparison with state-of-the-art works shows that the proposed antenna off ers the advantages of miniaturized size, simple geometry along with competitive bandwidth and stable radiation characteristics.
South Asian Working Action Group on SARCOpenia (SWAG-SARCO) – A consensus document
Minakshi Dhar,Nitin Kapoor,Ketut Suastika,Mohammad E. Khamseh,Shahjada Selim,Vijay Kumar,Syed Abbas Raza,Umal Azmat,Monika Pathania,Yovan Parikshat Rai Mahadeb,Sunny Singhal,Mohammad Wali Naseri,IGP S 대한골다공증학회 2022 Osteoporosis and Sarcopenia Vol.8 No.2
The South Asian population is rapidly ageing and sarcopenia is likely to become a huge burden in this region if proper action is not taken in time. Several sarcopenia guidelines are available, from the western world and from East Asia. However, these guidelines are not fully relevant for the South Asian healthcare ecosystem. South Asia is ethnically, culturally, and phenotypically unique. Additionally, the region is seeing an increase in non-communicable lifestyle disease and obesity. Both these conditions can lead to sarcopenia. However, secondary sarcopenia and sarcopenic obesity are either not dealt with in detail or are missing in other guidelines. Hence, we present a consensus on the screening, diagnosis and management of sarcopenia, which addresses the gaps in the current guidelines. This South Asian consensus gives equal importance to muscle function, muscle strength, and muscle mass; provides cost-effective clinical and easy to implement solutions; highlights secondary sarcopenia and sarcopenic obesity; lists commonly used biomarkers; reminds us that osteo-arthro-muscular triad should be seen as a single entity to address sarcopenia; stresses on prevention over treatment; and prioritizes nonpharmacological over pharmacological management. As literature is scarce from this region, the authors call for more South Asian research guided interventions.
