        Comparative analysis of genome-based CAZyme cassette in Antarctic Microbacterium sp. PAMC28756 with 31 other Microbacterium species

        Background: The genus Microbacterium belongs to the family Microbacteriaceae and phylum Actinobacteria. A detailed study on the complete genome and systematic comparative analysis of carbohydrate-active enzyme (CAZyme) among the Microbacterium species would add knowledge on metabolic and environmental adaptation. Here we present the comparative genomic analysis of CAZyme using the complete genome of Antarctic Microbacterium sp. PAMC28756 with other complete genomes of 31 Microbacterium species available. Objective: The genomic and CAZyme comparison of Microbacterium species and to rule out the specific features of CAZyme for the environmental and metabolic adaptation. Methods: Bacterial source were collected from NCBI database, CAZyme annotation of Microbacterium species was analyzed using dbCAN2 Meta server. Cluster of orthologous groups (COGs) analysis was performed using the eggNOG4.5 database. Whereas, KEGG database was used to compare and obtained the functional genome annotation information in carbohydrate metabolism and glyoxylate cycle. Results: Out of 32 complete genomes of Microbacterium species, strain No. 7 isolated from Activated Sludge showed the largest genomic size at 4.83 Mb. The genomic size of PAMC28756 isolated from Antarctic lichen species Stereocaulons was 3.54 Mb, the G + C content was 70.4% with 3,407 predicted genes, of which 3.36% were predicted CAZyme. In addition, while comparing the Glyoxylate cycle among 32 bacteria, except 10 strains, all other, including our strain have Glyoxylate pathway. PAMC28756 contained the genes that degrade cellulose, hemicellulose, amylase, pectinase, chitins and other exo-and endo glycosidases. Utilizing these polysaccharides can provides source of energy in an extreme environment. In addition, PAMC28756 assigned the (10.15%) genes in the carbohydrate transport and metabolism functional group closely related to the CAZyme for polysaccharides degradation. Conclusions: The genomic content and CAZymes distribution was varied in Microbacterium species. There was the presence of more than 10% genes in the carbohydrate transport and metabolism functional group closely related to the CAZyme for polysaccharides degradation. In addition, occurrence of glyoxylate cycle for alternative utilization of carbon sources suggest the adaptation of PAMC28756 in the harsh microenvironment.

        Chemotactic responses of five motile saprophytic and one phytopathogenic bacteria e.g. Agrobacterium radiobacter, Bacillus subtilis, B. potymyxa, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, P. fluorescens and Xanthomonas malvacearum towards exudate of Cochliobolus sativus conidia, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceri chlamydospores, Macrophomina phaseolina sclerotia and Phytophthora drechsleri f. sp. cajani oospores were determined in vitro at different abiotic conditions. In general, a positive correlation (r=0.76 to 0.89; P=0.05) was observed between concentration of fungal exudates and attraction of bacterial cells. Similarly, a significant (P=0.05; r=+0.82 to 0.95) positive correlation was noticed between chemotactic response and incubation period. The chemotactic response of bacteria was greatly influenced by temperature and pH of the test fungal exudate. The optimum temperature for maximum chemotaxis was 25℃ for A. radiobacter, 30℃ for B. polymyxa, P. aerugionosa, P. fluorescens and X. malvacearum and 35℃ for B. subtilis. Fungal exudates maintained at pH 7 attracted maximum number of bacteria. The response of bacterial cells to exudates at pH 3 and 11 was not significantly (P=0.05) different than that to the buffer (control). Chemotaxis of bacteria was observed towards attractants (fungal propagates and their exudates) when they were kept apart and bridged with the capillaries filled with non-attractant (buffer) or attractant (exudate).

        First Order Differential Subordinations and Starlikeness of Analytic Maps in the Unit Disc

        Let α be a complex number with 𝕽α > 0. Let the functions f and g be analytic in the unit disc E = {z : |z| < 1} and normalized by the conditions f(0) = g(0) = 0, f'(0) = g'(0) = 1. In the present article, we study the differential subordinations of the forms $${\alpha}{\frac{z^2f^{{\prime}{\prime}}(z)}{f(z)}}+{\frac{zf^{\prime}(z)}{f(z)}}{\prec}{\alpha}{\frac{z^2g^{{\prime}{\prime}}(z)}{g(z)}}+{\frac{zg^{\prime}(z)}{g(z)}},\;z{\in}E,$$ and $${\frac{z^2f^{{\prime}{\prime}}(z)}{f(z)}}{\prec}{\frac{z^2g^{{\prime}{\prime}}(z)}{g(z)}},\;z{\in}E.$$ As consequences, we obtain a number of sufficient conditions for star likeness of analytic maps in the unit disc.         Polylogarithms and Subordination of Some Cubic Polynomials

        Let V3(z, f) and σ^(1)3(z, f) be the cubic polynomials representing, respectively, the 3rd de la Vall´ee Poussin mean and the 3rd Ces`aro mean of order 1 of a power series f(z). If K denotes the usual class of convex univalent functions in the open unit disk centered at the origin, we show that, in general, V3(z, f) /< σ^(1)3(z, f), for all f ∈ K. Making use of polylogarithms, we identify a transformation, Λ : K → K , such that V3(z, Λ(f))< σ^(1)3(z, Λ(f)) for all f ∈ K . Here ‘<’ stands for subordination between two analytic functions.

        On harmonic convolutions involving a vertical strip mapping

        Let $ f_\beta=h_\beta+\overline{g}{_\beta}$ and $F_a=H_a+\overline{G}_a$ be harmonic mappings obtained by shearing of analytic mappings $$h_\beta+g_\beta={1}/{(2i{\sin}\beta)}\log\left({(1+ze^{i\beta})}/{(1+ze^{-i\beta})}\right),~0<\beta<\pi$$ and $H_a+G_a={z}/{(1-z)}$, respectively. Kumar \emph{et al.} \cite{ku and gu} conjectured that if $\omega(z)=e^{i\theta}z^n (\theta\in\mathbb{R},\,\, n\in \mathbb{N})$ and $ \omega_a(z)={(a-z)}/{(1-az)},\,a\in(-1,1)$ are dilatations of $f_\beta$ and $F_a$, respectively, then $F_a\widetilde\ast f_\beta \, \in S_H^0$ and is convex in the direction of the real axis, provided $a\in \left[{(n-2)}/{(n+2)},1\right)$. They claimed to have verified the result for $n=1,2,3$ and $4$ only. In the present paper, we settle the above conjecture, in the affirmative, for $\beta=\pi/2$ and for all $n\in \mathbb{N}$.

        Bohr’s Phenomenon for Some Univalent Harmonic Functions

        The largest value of such r0 is called the Bohr radius. In this article, we find Bohr radius for some univalent harmonic mappings having different dilatations. We also compute the Bohr radius for functions that are convex in one direction.

      • Soft Colloidal Scaffolds Capable of Elastic Recovery after Large Compressive Strains

        <P>Assemblies of inorganic or glassy particles are typically brittle and cannot sustain even moderate deformations. This restricts the use of such materials to applications where they do not experience significant loading or deformation. Here, we demonstrate a general strategy to create centimeter-size macroporous monoliths, composed primarily (>90 wt %) of colloidal particles, that recover elastically after compression to about one-tenth their original size. We employ ice templating of an aqueous dispersion of particles, polymer, and cross-linker such that cross-linking happens in the frozen state. This method yields elastic composite scaffolds for starting materials ranging from nanoparticles to micron-sized dispersions of inorganics or glassy lattices. The mechanical response of the monoliths is also qualitatively independent of polymer type, molecular weight, and even cross-linking chemistry. Our results suggest that the monolith mechanical properties arise from the formation of a unique hybrid microstructure, generated by cross-linking the polymer during ice templating. Particles that comprise the scaffold walls are connected by a cross-linked polymeric mesh. This microstructure results in soft monoliths, with moduli ∼O (10<SUP>4</SUP> Pa), despite the very high particle content in their walls. A remarkable consequence of this microstructure is that the monolith mechanical response is entropic in origin: the modulus of these scaffolds increases with temperature over a range of 140 K.         A Solid State Controller for Self-Excited Induction Generator for Voltage Regulation, Harmonic Compensation and Load Balancing

        This paper deals with the performance analysis of static compensator (STATCOM) based voltage regulator for selfexcited induction generators (SEIGs) supplying balanced/unbalanced and linear/ non-linear loads. In practice, most of the loads are linear. But the presence of non-linear loads in some applications injects harmonics into the generating system. Because an SEIG is a weak isolated system, these harmonics have a great effect on its performance. Additionally, SEIG’s offer poor voltage regulation and require an adjustable reactive power source to maintain a constant terminal voltage under a varying load. A three-phase insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) based current controlled voltage source inverter (CC-VSI) known as STATCOM is used for harmonic elimination. It also provides the required reactive power an SEIG needs to maintain a constant terminal voltage under varying loads. A dynamic model of an SEIG-STATCOM system with the ability to simulate varying loads has been developed using a stationary d-q axes reference frame. This enables us to predict the behavior of the system under transient conditions. The simulated results show that by using a STATCOM based voltage regulator the SEIG terminal voltage can be maintained constant and free from harmonics under linear/non linear and balanced/unbalanced loads.
