Objectives: This study is to investigate the method for assesment of cerebral palsy(CP), especislly focusing on function assesment Methods: We searched the recent date of the publication and paper in Cerebral Palsy Results: Measuring the function of children with cerebral palsy is mobility, self-care and social ability. Early adequate evaluation of motor development and prognosis of degree of long-term motor disability is very important not only for parents, but also for correct management of goal oriented rehabilitation treatment and for planning of preventive measures. 1. Gross Motor Function Classification System(GMFCS) is valuable to prognostication about gross motor progress in children with CP, using longitudinal observation. 2. Gross Motor Function Measure(GMFM) is the instrument most commonly used to measure gross motor function in children with cerebral palsy (CP). 3. Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory(PEDI) is one of the most commonly used assessments for children with a disability. Conclusions: The functional Assesment of children with CP are used GMFCS, GMFM and PEDI.

In previous report, Seungmagalgeun-tang (SGT) could exert its anti-inflammatory actions in the BV-2 microglial cells. However, study on the anti-inflammatory effect of SGT in mast cells has not been identified. Therefore, we examined on the anti-inflammatory effect of SGT on the phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) and calcium ionophore A23187-induced rat basophilic leukemia (RBL-2H3) cells. SGT inhibited the release of ${\beta}$-hexosaminidase and secretion and expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-${\alpha}$ and interleukin (IL)-4 on RBL-2H3 cells, without affecting cell viability. The protein expression level of nuclear factor (NF)-${\kappa}B$ (p65) was decreased in the nucleus by SGT. In addition, SGT suppressed the degradation of inhibitory protein $I{\kappa}B-{\alpha}$ protein, the activation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), and the expressions of cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 mRNA and protein level in RBL-2H3 cells. These results suggest that SGT could be involved anti-allergic effect by control of NF-${\kappa}B$ (p65) translocation into the nucleus through inhibition of $I{\kappa}B-{\alpha}$ degradation and suppression of COX-2 expression.

Objectives This experiment is about Jojoongikgi-tang(JIT) exerts anti-inflammatory effects in BV2 microglial cells, and the effect of JIT on Nitric oxide(NO) production in lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-stimulated BV2 microglial cells were also demonstrated. Methods To investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of JIT, NO production, expression level of iNOS mRNA, PGE2 synthesis, expression COX-2 mRNA, cell viability, $TNF-{\alpha}$ mRNA expression were examined. Results The expression level of inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS) was decreased by JIT, and the production of Prostaglandin E2(PGE2) and the expression of Cox-2 mRNA also were inhibited by JIT. Proinflammatory mediators, such as $TNF-{\alpha}$, $IL-1{\beta}$, IL-12, were inhibited by JIT in a dose-dependent manner. Conclusions JIT have anti-inflammatory effects in BV2 microglial cells and could be used in inflammatory disease.
Inhibitory Effect of Chan-Su on the Secretion of PGE2 and NO in LPS-stimulated BV2 Microglial Cells

본 논문은 오랫동안 민간요법으로 염증치료에 사용되어오던 섬수가 lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-자극된 BV2 소교 세포의 nitric oxide(NO) 분비에 미치는 효과에 대해 연구한 내용이다. 실험 결과 섬수는 세포 생존력에 대한 영향 없이 BV2 소교 세포에서 NO 분비를 억제시켰고, nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) 단백질도 감소시켰다. 또한 섬수는 prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) 생산 및 cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 발현을 저지하였고, proinflammatory cytokines과 ${IkB-\alpha}$감소를 억제시켰다. 따라서 섬수가 $I{\kappa}B-{\alpha}$감소를 억제함으로써 NO 합성을 저해하여 항염증작용을 할 수 있다는 내용이다. Chan-Su (Venenum bufonis) has long been for a variety of other purposes including treatment of inflammation in the folk medicine recipe. Since nitric oxide (NO) is one of the major inflammatory parameters, we first studied the effects of Chan-Su on NO production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated BV2 microglial cells, Chan-Su inhibited the secretion of NO in BV2 microglial cells, without affecting cell viability, The protein level of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) was decreased by Chan-Su, And Chan-Su also inhibited production of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and expression of cyclooxygenase (COX)-2. And Chan-Su inhibited the degradation of ${IkB-\alpha}$, which was considered to be inhibitor of nuclear factor $(NF)-{\kappa}B$, one of a potential transcription factor for the expression of iNOS, COX-2 and proinflammatory cytokines. These results suggest that Chan-Su could exert its anti-inflammatory actions by suppressing the synthesis of NO through inhibition of $I{\kappa}B-{\alpha}$ degradation.
The Study of Seunggal-tang Gamibang on the Anti-allergy Effects

Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate effects of Seunggal-tang gamibang (SGT) on the PMA plus A23187-induced RBL-2H3 cells. Methods The effect of SGT on ${\beta}$ -hexosamonidase release, passive cutaneous anaphylaxis, $TNF-{\alpha}$ production and IL-4 secretion was studied. Results SGT inhibited the release of ${\beta}$ -hexosamonidase in RBL-2H3, without affecting cell viability. The passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA) was inhibited by the SGT. Moreover SGT also reduced production of $TNF-{\alpha}$ and secretion of IL-4 in a dose-dependent manner. Conclusions SGT has anti-allergy effects on the RBL-2H3 cells.
소아복통 환아에 대한 향사육군자탕 가미방의 임상적 효능에 관한 연구

Objectives This study for evaluating the effects of HyangsayukgunjatangGamibang on childhood with abdominal pain. Methods This clinical study has been carried out with 38 children, who visited to the Department of Pediatrics, $\bigcirc\;\bigcirc$oriental medical center from January 2005 to August 2007, who had been treated for abdominal pain with herbal medicine (HyangsayukgunjatangGamibang). This study had done by chart-review or by telephone research. Results 1. After treating with HyangsayukgunjatangGamibang, 34 children's abdominal pain was improved. (63.2%) 2. After treating with HyangsayukgunjatangGamibang, 13 children eat more than before. 3. After treatment with HyangsayukgunjatangGamibang, children's symptoms-constipation, nausea, headache, anorexia were improved. Conclusions HyangsayukgunjatangGamibang is effective in childhood abdominal pain.
염색체 이상이 의심되는 한국인 환자 2,448명에 대한 세포 유전학적 분석

Chromosome banding studies of peripheral blood lymphocytes were conducted upon 2,448 Korean patients referred to us for suspected chromosomal abnormalities over a 10-year period (1980-1989). A sample of 30 metaphases was examined per individual for a total of 73,440 metaphases. We detected chromosome disorders in 699 patients (28.6%): 429 (61.4%) had numerical aberrations and the other 270 (38.6%) revealed structural rearrangements. The overall abnormality rate of 28.6% in our study is in agreement with other surveys, although our abnormality rate in several disease groups is significantly different from other studies. Whether the discrepancy is real or whether it is simply the result of sampling variation can not be explained at present.
Susceptibility of Diabetic Mice to Noise Trauma

<P>Diabetes can lead to many end-organ complications. However, the association between diabetes and hearing loss is not well understood. Here, we investigated the effect of noise exposure on diabetic mice compared with wild-type mice. Hearing threshold shifts, histopathologic changes in the cochlea, and inflammatory responses were evaluated over time. After noise exposure, more severe hearing threshold shifts, auditory hair cell loss, and synaptopathies were notable in diabetic mice compared with wild-type mice. Moreover, increased inflammatory responses and reactive oxygen species production were observed in the ears of diabetic mice. The results demonstrated that diabetic mice are more susceptible to noise trauma.</P>
