Purpose: Strokes are challenging to diagnose in pediatric emergency departments (EDs) as level of suspicion is low and atypical presentations are common. We analyzed clinical features, epidemiology and factors of delayed identification in arterial ischemic strokes (AIS) and hemorrhagic strokes (HS). Methods: Single-center retrospective cohort study of children aged between 29 days and 18 years old diagnosed with stroke between July 2016 to June 2021. Results: Among 36 children, 11 (30.5%) had AIS, 25 (69.4%) had HS. Median age for AIS was 9 years (interquartile range [IQR], 2 to 9) and HS 9 years (IQR, 1 to 11.5) (P=0.715). Focal neurological deficit was seen in 72.7% of AIS and 20% of HS (P=0.006). Only 18.2% of AIS and 52.0% of HS presented within 6 hours of symptoms. Median time from symptom onset to ED presentation was 24 hours (IQR, 12 to 28) for AIS and 7 hours (IQR, 1.8 to 48) for HS (P=0.595). Most (85.6%) arrived by own transport. Median time from presentation to neuroimaging was 7 hours (IQR, 0.9 to 7) for AIS and 4.8 (IQR, 1.3 to 16.8) hours for HS (P=0.376). Eleven patients, 9/25 (36.0%) HS and 2/11 (18.2%) AIS, did not have stroke as differential diagnosis at ED (P=0.714). Common initial diagnoses were viral illness or headaches. On univariate analysis, age <1 (odds ratio [OR], 17.5; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.2 to 250.4; P=0.035) and absence of focal neurological deficit (OR, 13.091; 95% CI, 1.5 to 117.9; P=0.022) were significant factors for delayed identification. Conclusion: Index of suspicion for pediatric strokes among caregivers and clinicians should be increased. Public awareness campaigns are recommended.
Transition and incentives in Chna`s Foreign investment regime
( Su Qi Qin ) 고려대학교 법학연구원 2011 Korea University Law Review Vol.10 No.-
In the 30 years since the adoption of Policy of Reform and Opening up towards foreign investments, China has experienced two unique eras of policy. Each era is characterized by a distinct set of policy concerns and incentives unique from the other. Prior to its accession into the World Trade Organization (WTO) the first phase focused on fostering foreign investment, with a focus on raising capital and acquiring technology for rapid industrialization. Subsequent to its entry into the WTO, China`s second phase focused towards global economic integration via satisfaction of its commitments to the WTO. The focus on global integration has become a key factor in shaping China`s modified approach to its regulation of foreign investments.

The effect of various flavonoids, lectins and phenyl β‐D‐glucoside on larval survival, weights and the activities of digestive (total serine protease and trypsin) and detoxifying (esterase and glutathione‐S‐transferase) enzymes of Spodoptera litura larvae at 7 days after treatment was studied through diet incorporation assay. Flavonoids (rutin, chlorogenic acid, quinic acid, caffeic acid, naringenin, quercitin, kaempferol, myricetin, catechin, and ferulic acid) were incorporated in artificial diet at 100, 500 and 1000 ppm, lectins: groundnut leaf lectin (GLL), concavalin A (ConA) and phenyl β‐D‐glucoside at 1, 2 and 5 μg/mL. Flavonoids such as rutin, quercitin and kaempferol at 1000 ppm were more toxic to S. litura larvae than quinic acid, caffeic acid, naringenin, myricetin, catechin, and ferulic acid. Larval growth and development were significantly reduced in S. litura larvae fed on a diet with GLL and ConA at 5 μg/mL compared to the larvae fed at 2 and 1 μg/mL concentrations. The larvae fed on flavonoid‐treated diets showed significant reduction in serine protease, trypsin and esterase activities. The flavonoids such as rutin, chlorogenic acid, quinic acid, naringenin, quercitin, kaempferol and myricetin, and lectins, GLL and ConA can be utilized in insect control programs.

This paper tests how managerial financial education explains the valuation effects of seasoned equity offerings (SEOs). Using a sample of Taiwanese listed firms during 2007–2018, our results show that investors react more negatively to SEO announcements by firms with more financially educated managers (MFEMs). Such a negative effect is more pronounced for firms with a higher information asymmetry and more earnings management. Further evidence indicates that SEO firms with MFEMs are substantially overvalued and thus experience a significantly long-run post-SEO underperformance. MFEMs are also found to reduce their ownership prior to SEOs. Our overall results support the opportunism-based information advantage hypothesis.

Curcumol is a sesquiterpene originally isolated from curcuma rhizomes, a component of herbal remedies commonly used in oriental medicine. Its beneficial pharmacological activities have attract significant interest recently. In this study, anti-cancer activity of curcumol was examined with both in vitro and in vivo models. It was found that curcumol exhibited time- and concentration-dependent anti-proliferative effects in SPC-A-1 human lung adenocarcinoma cells with cell cycle arrest in the G0/G1 phase while apoptosis-induction was also confirmed with flow cytometry and morphological analyses. Interestingly, curcumol did not display growth inhibition in MRC-5 human embryonic lung fibroblasts, suggesting the anti-proliferative effects of curcumol were specific to cancer cells. Anti-neoplastic effects of curcumol were also confirmed in tumor bearing mice. Curcumol (60 mg/ kg daily) significantly reduced tumor size without causing notable toxicity. In conclusion, curcumol appears a favorable anti-cancer candidate for further development.

Anti-angiogenic agents have played crucial roles in the treatment of ovarian cancer in recent years, but potential benefits of endostatin have been largely unexplored. The present retrospective study evaluated its efficacy and toxicity with two cohorts of patients with platinum-resistant recurrent ovarian cancer. One cohort received gemcitabine plus endostar (rh-endostatin), and the second cohort received gemcitabine regimen alone, with totals of 31 and 27 patients, respectively. The main endpoints were disease control rate (DCR), PFS, overall survival (OS) and safety. There were statistically significant differences in DCR (70.9% vs. 40.7%; P = 0.02) and PFS (6.3 months vs. 3.2 months, P = 0.001) between the two cohorts. Though the endostar cohort also improved median OS by 2.1 months, there was no statistically significant difference compared with gemcitabine alone cohort in this case (12.5 months vs. 10.4 months, P = 0.201). Treatment was well tolerated for most patients, and toxicity of endostar was negligible. Gemcitabine plus endostar significantly improved the prognosis in patients with platinum-resistant recurrent ovarian cancer, especially in those with malignant effusion. The endostar-containing regimen is recommended in this setting.

Currently, TM images has a very high practical value and widely used in all aspects of agricultural. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) remote sensing platform mounted ADC-Lite multi-spectral sensor has consistent channels response functions with TM sensor in TM2, TM3 and TM4, demonstrated to compete with TM sensor, due to low operational cost, high operational flexibility, high spatial resolution of imagery (0.018m with flight altitude 50m) and heterogeneity both at time and spatial-scale. In order to make sure whether it has widely used as TM sensor, moreover, the aim of this work is to assess ADC-Lite performance such as its adaptability and practicability. In this paper, ADC-Lite multi-spectral data, ground truth ASD hyperspectral and Leaf area index (LAI) data were acquired in soybean planting area, Jiaxiang County, Shandong Province on September18th, 2015. Since the ADC-Lite has different spatial scales with TM, this paper used TM simulation data transformed by ground truth ASD data, constructed LAI inversion model by empirical model based on two sensors and ground measured data, using 5 vegetation indices: ratio vegetation index (RVI), normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), soil adjust vegetation index (SAVI), difference vegetation index (DVI) and triangular vegetation index (TVI). Determination coefficient R2, root mean square error (RMSE) and the estimation accuracy (EA) 3 indicators were acquired to assess the model. This work suggests that the established model of ADC-Lite sensor with TM simulation sensor has high consistency in accuracy. NDVI linear regression model derived from both of them presented a strong correlation with ground-measured LAI. It’s preliminarily shown that ADC-Lite images assess soybean LAI is feasible. This is anticipated to have tremendous implications that ADC-Lite can be made supplement for existing satellites, aerial and ground sensing, provide important information for Crop condition monitoring and critical data to support crop maturity, nutrition monitoring and fertilization management.
